00:00 Clearly here in Lake Conjola there's been 150mm of rain overnight.
00:06 With that not looking like it's easing any time soon.
00:09 We actually have residents here in the homes behind me sitting, waiting for that water
00:14 to go down.
00:15 Council is here with SES volunteers.
00:18 They've been monitoring the site behind me where a road has been cut off to prevent members
00:23 of the community from driving through floodwater, which we know is dangerous.
00:28 SES tell me that the lake opened naturally early this morning, which they thought was
00:33 a concern, hoping that council would have managed to get ahead on this event and open
00:39 the lake earlier to prevent any further damage.
00:42 SES tell me that there are seven flood vehicles around the region from as far as a little
00:48 bit further north, near and south of Narra, down to Batemans Bay and even further south
00:52 to Bega, where the floods are expected to pop up in areas of low lying and along the
00:58 river system there.
01:00 The south coast has seen in pockets more than 200mm of rain since early hours this morning,
01:06 with no expectation for that sort of level of water to ease any time soon.
01:11 So SES do say that there have been some rescues overnight and earlier this morning.
01:16 Just here in Lake Conjola there was a couple and their dog who were rescued from their
01:21 home after their car was inundated and they were unable to leave.
01:26 Other than that, a nearby caravan park here in Lake Conjola, which was submerged earlier
01:31 this morning, everyone was also evacuated from there in time.
01:36 The SES do have a long day ahead of them, but there are many, many volunteers on crew
01:42 here as well as other emergency services involved.
01:45 Roads are being cut off and all we can do is sit and sort of hope that this rain will
01:51 ease off here in the south coast of New South Wales.
