00:00 You just, obviously, listen to stuff and try to work your way back in.
00:02 Everybody knows you don't wanna miss times over the last couple days, Bentley.
00:05 >> It's been rough.
00:07 It's a long week.
00:09 I battled a lot of things, but I don't wanna miss any games regardless.
00:17 Things happen in life, I've been through a lot in general.
00:21 So some people have their opinions, like I'm crazy, but I know I'm crazy.
00:27 So it's fine, I love it.
00:29 Everything I do, I do it with a purpose.
00:32 And I did everything in my power all week, and I can't give enough credit to
00:37 everybody on the Raiders staff, Alex Guerrero, Tim Harkins, all those guys.
00:42 They freaking did everything in their power, and I pissed them off and
00:47 kept them up all night, trying to get on the field.
00:50 So I can't say enough about those guys.
00:52 >> What did it take to convince them to get back on the field?
00:55 I'm saying, obviously, you had to go talk to them.
00:58 >> Well, there was a lot.
00:59 It wasn't convincing, it was like, I had some real issues going on.
01:05 I was in the hospital, all that type of shit.
01:10 Yeah, it was tough, but found a way.
01:13 >> How do you feel now?
01:15 And is it another rough couple weeks coming, or
01:17 is the bye week coming at a good time?
01:18 Where do you go from here?
01:19 >> No, it's coming at a good time, for sure.
01:21 I just had to battle through some things, it was just tough.
01:24 Had some infections, certain different things like that.
01:26 So I was down at the counter for a few days.
01:30 Yeah, just part of it.
01:32 Luckily, I have great people around me, a great team around me.
01:36 They helped me a lot.
01:37 >> Max, what was your feeling?
01:40 Look, about four minutes left in the game, they took you out.
01:43 You didn't seem too happy about it.
01:44 What was your feeling in that moment?
01:45 >> I was upset.
01:49 Got tripped up on the edge and slammed my body in the ground.
01:54 So I think they thought I was hurt.
01:57 And I was banged up a little bit, but
02:02 I didn't wanna come off the field at that point.
02:05 It was just frustration more than anything.
02:07 You put everything you do without playing my ass off.
02:10 And everybody's out there playing their ass off.
02:13 So I just wanted to give our team a chance in a hard time.
02:17 And I didn't wanna come off, so it was simple as that.
02:21 >> How tough was it just on a play by play basis to be in there?
02:24 And how much pain were you actually in during the game?
02:25 >> We could talk about it all day.
02:28 I was in a lot of fucking pain.
02:30 But it is what it is.
02:32 Like I said, I train all year round to do this.
02:35 Give myself the opportunity to play 17 guaranteed games.
02:38 And if I can go, I'm gonna go.
02:40 >> You guys had a 14-0 lead earlier.
02:44 Did you feel there was a point when momentum kind of changed?
02:46 >> Yeah, I mean, they're a really good team.
02:50 They're defending champs.
02:51 So you gotta be on point from start to finish to get into the first quarter.
02:56 We talk about starting fast, but you gotta finish faster.
02:58 So it's like you gotta keep your foot on the gas at all times.
03:02 And they got the best quarterback in the world.
03:05 So you can't lay off the gas whatsoever.
03:09 >> Max, I just asked AP, and I'm not gonna try to get you in any trouble, but
03:13 there were multiple times you didn't tackle.
03:15 You can see the holds.
03:16 He said he's talking to the rest before the game, during the game,
03:21 and after the game.
03:22 Are you as a captain able to say anything, or do you have to keep your mouth shut?
03:25 >> No, it is what it is.
03:27 I'm used to it at this point.
03:28 It's been, hi, Debra.
03:31 I'm used to it at this point.
03:32 That's what happens.
03:35 When you win a lot of rushes, you're gonna get held.
03:38 So run or pass game.
03:41 So it's just a part of it.
03:42 It's a part of it.
03:42 You can complain about it.
03:44 It ain't changing, so it is what it is.
03:46 >> What percentage were you tonight healthy?
03:49 >> Healthy?
03:50 >> It looked like at points, I guess 60, 65%.
03:54 Was that pretty accurate?
03:56 >> Yeah, I don't know.
03:57 I was, yeah.
04:00 I can't put a number on it, but I was going through it, for sure.
04:02 >> Despite all that, you did, I think we got a third down sack,
04:05 got the offensive ball back on him a chance.
04:08 What did you see on that play, and how that feels?
04:10 That kind of a validation or anything you went through in the moment?
04:13 >> Yeah, I just out of body experience.
04:15 I think I got a freaking triple team down to play, and someone else.
04:20 So I just kept fighting, finding a way, and made a play, and
04:24 helped us get our offense another opportunity in a big moment.
04:28 So yeah, it was big playing the game.
04:31 It was, like I said, out of body experience.
04:33 >> Patrick Mahomes, he said after the game, he had a lot of respect for you.
04:36 You guys made trash talk back and forth, but
04:38 he had tremendous respect for you even seeing the field today.
04:42 How mutual is that feeling between you and Patrick?
04:44 >> No question.
04:46 Like I said, I've said it many times, but he's the best in the game.
04:50 And we go against each other twice a year.
04:53 We have our back and forth and things like that.
04:56 But at the end of the day, it's respect.
04:58 When you see another great one across from you, you know what time it is.
05:01 So every time, he brings the best out of me and vice versa.
05:04 So I got a ton of love for him regardless.
05:07 That doesn't change how I'm approaching him.
05:09 I'm trying to hunt his ass down every time I go out there.
05:12 But he knows that and he respects it and it goes both ways.
05:15 So yeah, I got a ton of respect for him.
05:18 >> Max, speaking of respect.
05:19 >> Did they get offensive lead all of a sudden, kind of start having success or
05:22 did they just keep plugging away and it was just a tough little event?
05:25 >> They did a lot of different things.
05:26 I gotta watch the film, obviously.
05:27 But like I said, it's the fact of the world champs.
05:30 You gotta be on point.
05:31 And just little things, it just comes down to details,
05:35 getting off the field in critical situations.
05:36 We didn't do that well enough tonight.
05:39 And we didn't play good enough complimentary football either.
05:41 So those things go hand in hand.
05:44 >> Max, speaking of respect, did you see all the love that you got on hard knocks?
05:48 If so, how good does that feel?
05:50 >> Yeah, yeah, I have some people in my family and stuff saying it to me.
05:54 So I checked it out.
05:55 Me and Rachel watched it and it's cool.
05:58 At the end of the day, I play the game for one reason, it's cuz I love it.
06:03 And I wanna leave a legacy and be the best at what I do.
06:06 And when I see stuff like that,
06:08 it's a little bit more validation about all the work I put in.
06:13 And just a little check mark, but it gives me more motivation to keep going and
06:18 keep getting better cuz I'm only at the beginning of this story.
06:22 So every single day is a battle, every day is a challenge.
06:25 And getting to see other teams and things like that, preparing for me in different
06:29 ways and practicing me doing extra stuff and all that.
06:33 It's actually pretty damn cool to see.
06:36 So yeah, especially when it's great ones like Dolphins and
06:40 Chiefs and things like that.
06:42 Some of the best coaches and players in the league showing respect is really cool.
06:47 >> You guys all set?
