00:00 The parole placement for Mr Oscar Pistoras has been confirmed,
00:06 effectively from the 5th of January 2024.
00:11 What will happen from now until the month of January 2024
00:17 will be what we call a pre-release program. That's where
00:21 an inmate is prepared for life outside of a correctional facility.
00:26 Just like all other parolees, Mr Pistoras will be monitored by our
00:32 officials based within the system of community corrections
00:35 and that will happen until such time that
00:39 his sentence expires because we always make it a point that parole placement
00:44 does not mean the end of a sentence but it merely says that
00:48 you will complete your sentence outside of a correctional facility
00:52 which is part and parcel of rehabilitation efforts.
00:56 We want to live in a country where there are rules and regulations
01:01 and we want to live in a country where those rules and regulations are applied
01:08 evenly across the board without fear or favor
01:12 and if those are the rules and Pistoras has met the requirements
01:17 then so be it.
