00:00 I think Ben and I actually really focused on,
00:04 I mean, all I'd say about it is in the book, this kind of.
00:08 - There's a tension between them,
00:10 but actually we managed to develop something
00:12 that was actually almost a purer kind of example
00:16 of this kind of toxic relationship
00:18 that you were just talking about before.
00:21 About why she's staying and.
00:25 - Yeah, there's a familiality
00:28 and there's also like kind of,
00:30 it's not really Stockholm syndrome,
00:32 but there's this slightly conflicted juxtaposition
00:37 to their relationship.
00:41 And it's, you know, he's kind of the closest thing
00:45 to family that she has until she meets Alina.
00:48 And I think, yeah, I mentioned before that there's,
00:54 she finds safety in the familiarity of it,
00:57 even though the familiarity of it obviously is very unsafe
01:02 because of the nature of the relationship.
01:04 But it was really fun with Ben to kind of find those moments
01:07 where we can connect.
01:09 There's just this simmering.
01:10 - And having a bit of freedom to kind of explore those,
01:12 those themes, which I think are.
01:14 - The nuances.
01:15 - The nuances of those themes,
01:16 which I think are like contemporary.
01:19 - Yeah.
01:20 - Within the framework of something so,
01:25 so much broader sweeping, you know,
01:29 'cause fantasy often has this kind of very broad
01:31 dark versus light, these days of grand themes,
01:33 but to really kind of, you know,
01:36 chip away at things that feel very modern, you know,
01:41 in terms of, you know, toxicity of relationships
01:43 or, you know, struggles.
