00:08 The priorities of Africa in the path of energy transition.
00:12 This is the theme at the center of the second day of the conference
00:15 that inaugurates the new Eni & Luis network.
00:18 During the morning, a comparison on various topics,
00:21 where members of the various delegations have identified a series of crucial points,
00:25 from the distribution to the consumption of energy,
00:28 up to access to sources throughout the continent
00:30 and the creation of sustainable development systems.
00:33 We are very satisfied, I must say that when we started this initiative with Luis,
00:38 at least I personally did not think that we would have reached this level in its inaugural version.
00:43 This level means a wide, authoritative presence from the African side
00:50 and above all capable of representing many, many different instances,
00:54 because there were the energy instances, but there were also the instances of food security,
00:59 there were the academia instances, there is a real risk of unbalanced perception.
01:07 Having places where all these instances are compared together,
01:11 in my opinion, allows the level of mutual awareness to grow
01:15 and we know that in order to move political decision-makers,
01:19 in order to move public opinions, the debate must be correctly fed.
01:24 If we put good information in it, so a type of debate of these two days,
01:30 we can have the reasonable expectation that the output of this debate
01:34 is also more reasonable, more pragmatic, more in line with the expectations,
01:38 not only ours, but also theirs.
01:39 Today's event, the conference, was a very useful event, absolutely well-received,
01:44 so a big thank you to Eni and Luis.
01:48 I think that more than putting the vases, to use a chemical term,
01:53 it catalyzes, that is, it accelerates even more the process of cooperation,
01:57 because in 2023 you cannot think of sitting at a table to create tools of cooperation
02:05 if you do not feel at the same level and if you do not really speak the same language.
02:10 Africa is really a continent, the continent of the future.
02:14 Surely we must find the key to harmony, to speak the same language,
02:19 but I think we have already reached a good point.
02:24 You cannot, how to say, disregard Africa in designing the future of the world,
02:30 especially from an energy point of view.
02:32 The conference thus opened a space for dialogue and comparison between the offices of the two continents,
02:38 in the context of a constant cooperation to face the climate challenge and energy security.
02:44 The energy transition means changing the habits in production, distribution and energy consumption
02:55 and doing it in a sustainable way.
03:00 The priority in the Ivory Coast and in Africa itself is, first of all, access to energy, to electricity,
03:12 because a large part of the African population does not have it.
03:16 We must therefore find solutions to guarantee access to electricity, equal to 100%.
03:25 The second thing is to promote sustainability.
03:30 We must reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and, finally, encourage energy efficiency.
03:43 Thank you.
