00:00 >> Trey, just what were you able to see on that play with DeAndre that led to
00:05 you guys losing him in the third quarter?
00:08 >> I don't remember too much of the play.
00:11 I think I remember him falling down from trying to take a charge and
00:16 then they didn't call it and then he's on the ground.
00:19 And I mean, I know I'm up there and shooting free throws, but
00:24 I know Joe out there is too.
00:25 So I know he knows how to get to the line.
00:29 Was it a foul?
00:30 I don't know, but Dre didn't like it.
00:32 And sometimes it's hard to cool that off whenever they feel they're right.
00:38 And they just go.
00:41 So sometimes, I don't know,
00:45 it's just hard cuz you don't see Dre react like that all the time.
00:50 But I definitely needed him in a lot of moments later on in the game.
00:56 >> Hey, Dre, first of all, congrats on the birth of your daughter, man.
00:59 >> Appreciate it.
01:00 >> Focus on the positive.
01:01 You've done a good job the past two games of getting your teammates involved.
01:04 Is that something that's coming naturally in the flow or
01:06 is it something that you're looking to do in the past two nights?
01:10 >> Man, I've been leading the league in assists the last two years and
01:12 it comes to total points.
01:13 I mean, total assists.
01:14 That means I play a lot, that means I get my guys involved.
01:18 So I've been doing that, ain't nothing new.
01:20 So, but you just gotta finish games.
01:24 To be honest, I don't care about all the getting everybody involved.
01:27 I just wanna win at the end of the day.
01:28 So the teams are putting their best defender on me still.
01:33 No matter what I'm shooting, I gotta be able to get them the ball.
01:38 And it allows me when they're making shots to open up the floor.
01:41 And so I'm just trying to continue to get them the ball.
01:44 And I know it'll open up even more for me.
01:45 >> Did the fact that tonight was an in-season tournament game kind of
01:50 amp you up heading into the matchup?
01:52 It's also going against the reigning MVP.
01:54 And also, what would it mean to you to be the winner of the inaugural NBA Cup?
02:00 >> Yeah, I mean, we knew what type of game it was coming into the night.
02:05 Obviously, we know it's an in-season tournament.
02:07 That's why we were still playing hard to the end.
02:10 And the point differential things and things like that.
02:14 But we know they lost the game.
02:16 And the team that's coming in on Tuesday hasn't lost.
02:18 So we just gotta be ready to take care of business.
02:22 And then take care of business in the next two games.
02:25 And let the chips fall where they may when it comes to point differential and
02:29 all that.
02:29 But really bigger than the in-season tournament, it's a regular season game too.
02:33 So you wanna win every game you can.
02:37 But of course, it's the in-season tournament.
02:40 It's a bigger deal this year when it comes to certain games.
02:43 And so yeah, we definitely wanted to win this.
02:47 We didn't.
02:47 Now we gotta win our next two games.
02:49 And thankfully, our next game is an in-season tournament game too.
02:52 So hopefully, we got some energy.
02:53 >> Trey, we're 12 games, Trey, so first off,
02:57 I wanted to say congratulations as well on the birth of your daughter.
03:01 So so far, y'all are 12 games in, plenty of basketball left, obviously.
03:07 So so far, 12 games in, six and six.
03:11 What is it that you've seen so far throughout these games,
03:15 playing a variety of teams, you've seen a variety of things that you think you guys
03:19 can improve on to get that consistency throughout the season and
03:24 into the playoffs?
03:25 >> Yeah, that's a great question.
03:27 We know where we need to be and where we're gonna be at the end of the year.
03:32 So that's the bright spot, just understanding we're not even close to
03:38 where we need to be to win at the highest level and in the playoffs.
03:43 And the regular season is not only to get ready for that,
03:47 you wanna build, you wanna win as the season goes on.
03:51 But you also wanna be ready when that time comes.
03:54 Right now, we're not there yet, but my confidence and
03:58 I say it every year, we'll be ready by that time.
04:00 And I believe in our coach and Quinn and the Spice is gonna put us in.
04:07 It's gonna become a lot easier and natural for us on offense and
04:10 the way we play our defense.
04:12 And I mean, preseason looked great.
04:16 And then the first couple games, it kinda slips.
04:18 And we've had moments on defense throughout the year where we've been really good.
04:22 And so it's just about being consistent with what we're doing.
04:26 And it's hard to find consistency when it's not a habit yet.
04:29 And we'll make everything that Quinn is telling us a habit, and
04:34 it's gonna work for us in the long run.
04:37 >> Thank you, Trent.
