Sean Payton has been impressed with Minnesota Vikings quarterback Josh Dobbs since he was thrown into action his first week on the job.

00:00 It's pretty remarkable. It's very unusual and I can't think of,
00:04 you know, when you hear the stories about, you know, coach
00:09 giving him the routes over the headset.
00:13 First time I met him,
00:16 Tennessee had seven or eight draft eligible players
00:21 and we had flown in to work those guys out.
00:25 He was one of them.
00:27 Kamara was one of them. And so we had dinner with them all.
00:30 The next day we worked them all out.
00:31 And he and Alvin were in the quarterback room.
00:35 And Pete Carmichael and I, I think, went in and
00:39 what was impressive is how smart both of them were.
00:43 And of course, you know, the quarterback is one thing
00:47 and then Alvin the same way, but it was pretty impressive.
00:50 And so, you know, from afar, you follow his career some,
00:54 but his football IQ obviously is unique and rare.
00:59 I think that's something else.
01:04 I mean, I don't think it happens often or if it's ever happened.
01:07 I mean, occasionally you might say, "Hey, heads up for, look at this."
01:10 But no, it's just, you know, obviously a credit to him
01:15 and the coaches there.
01:17 And, you know, it's, again, it's impressive.
01:22 It's impressive.
