Leading up to the state assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Union Minister for Agriculture and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Dimni constituency, Narendra Singh Tomar, is under fierce criticism from the opposition Congress. This follows the recent emergence of three viral videos that claim to implicate his son, Devendra Pratap Singh Tomar, in financial dealings. In response to the controversy surrounding these videos, the Union Minister has asserted that it is a carefully orchestrated conspiracy by the opposition to tarnish his reputation during the crucial election period in Madhya Pradesh.
Tomar made this statement after the release of a third video on social media on Tuesday. Addressing the situation, he tweeted, ""Today a fake video related to my son has gone viral on social media. This is part of a well-planned conspiracy being carried out by the opposition at the time of elections with the aim of misleading the public.""
Over the past few days, three video clips have circulated on social media allegedly showing Devendra Pratap Singh Tomar engaged in financial transactions. The first video, lasting six minutes and 29 seconds, was a compilation of two WhatsApp calls (video and audio), where Devendra Pratap was purportedly involved in discussions regarding transactions of crores of rupees and transferring funds to multiple bank accounts.
In the second video, a one-minute and 35-second clip, Devendra Pratap is again allegedly seen in a WhatsApp video call with the same person from the first video. The Congress released this second clip during a press conference in Bhopal on Monday, November 13. The videos have sparked a contentious debate as the Union Minister accuses the opposition of orchestrating a deliberate effort to mislead the public ahead of the Madhya Pradesh elections.
