First solo album by Barry "The Fish" Melton after he left Country Joe & the Fish. Melton was only 21 when he cut this album, which consists entirely of covers of blues and soul classics of the era. He cut the blues covers in Chicago with sidemen from the Chess House Band, while the soul music covers were recorded in New York with members of the Wilson Pickett Band and Joe Newman, the trumpeter from Count Basie's band.
Barry Melton - guitar, vocals.
Gerald Sims - rhythm guitar.
Donny Hataway - piano.
Philip Upchurch - bass.
Morris Jennings - drums.
backing singers - unknown.
Third degree.
Something you got.
I had a dream.
How sweet it is (to be loved by you).
Wine, woman, whiskey.
Son of Hickory Holler's tramp.
You've got what it takes.
Georgia.
I've been in darkness.
It's a mean old world.
You've really got a hold on me.
The sun is shining.
