This time we traded a new motorcycle for a new UTV in the form of the Teryx KRX 1000 ($23,199), a two-seat sport side-by-side from Kawasaki, and wheeled it in a fun 60-mile off-road poker run in conjunction with the annual UTV World Championship. Kawasaki has been building its Teryx UTV at its Lincoln, Nebraska, factory since the 2008 model year. When this vehicle was originally unveiled, it was designed for more general recreation and a bit of utility and was a lot smaller than a modern UTV. 00:00 Hey folks, well this isn't something you get to do every day. Today we're going to
00:04 be trading two wheels for four wheels. We're going to be driving Kawasaki's new
00:09 KRX 1000 Tarex. This is a two-seat sport UTV from the folks at Kawasaki
00:17 Motors Corporation. Now today we're going to be actually driving on the UTV World
00:24 Championship race course. The organization is hosting a fun 60-mile
00:30 poker run and this poker run is designed for motorsports enthusiasts who want to
00:36 see what the racing course is like and want to feel and experience the thrill
00:41 of UTV driving in a non-competition way. So we're going to hop behind the wheel
00:46 of this KRX 1000 and have a little bit of fun on four wheels. Alright folks,
00:52 here it is Kawasaki's Tarex KRX 1000. This is a two-seat sport orientated UTV
01:04 from Kawasaki Motors Corporation out of Japan. Now Kawasaki has been making its
01:11 Tarex UTV since the 2008 model year and that back when that vehicle came out
01:20 that was made for more general recreation, a little bit of utility. It
01:26 was a lot smaller in terms of size than a modern UTV. Now the KRX 1000 is an
01:36 additional UTV in Kawasaki's four-wheel segment. They still continue to make the
01:42 Tarex 800 for folks that are looking for something that's a little bit less
01:46 sporty, a little bit more compact to use on smaller trails. These vehicles like
01:54 the KRX 1000 are an answer to vehicles like that, the Polaris RZR which is an
02:02 extreme performance sport UTV. Now this vehicle rings in at $20,500.
02:12 $20,500. For that price you get a vehicle with 31 inch beadlock wheels.
02:22 Beadlock wheels are nice because it helps keep the tire affixed to the rim.
02:29 So when you're operating the vehicle on very technical terrain you don't have to
02:34 worry about the tire sliding off the rim. This vehicle is powered by a triple 9 cc
02:42 parallel twin, eight valve cylinder heads, liquid-cooled. This engine configuration
02:50 is proprietary to the Tarex KRX 1000. Now we can look at the engine here.
02:58 All of these UTVs are rear engine layouts. The engines right here, this is
03:04 the CVT transmission. That is the transmission that puts power back to the
03:11 rear wheels and the four wheels. This vehicle is also fitted with a
03:15 centrifugal clutch. So it goes engine, centrifugal clutch, CV transmission to
03:22 the tires. Now this engine as you can see here is very big. This will never be used
03:29 in a motorcycle just because of its sheer dimensions. But it's nice that
03:34 Kawasaki paid attention to the details. The oil filter is easy to access, the oil
03:40 sight glass is right there. You can add the engine oil. It's got a big knob so
03:45 you can actually twist it with your hands. This vehicle also comes with four
03:52 link rear suspension and independent front suspension. Kawasaki says it's
04:00 got about 19 inches of front suspension travel and I think right around 21 in
04:06 the back. That's almost double what a dirt bike has. Almost double. So quite a
04:11 lot of wheel travel and movement in this thing. I really like the signature LED
04:16 headlights. Let's turn this thing on real quick. You just hit the start button.
04:22 Also has a nice TFT color display. Looks super sick. Doesn't look janky at all. I
04:29 like that a lot. Let me show you these lights. Let's turn on these top light bar
04:34 too. Look at those things. Look how sick that vehicle looks like. And rotting
04:39 after dark that huge LED light bar is really gonna do a good job of
04:44 illuminating the trail ahead. These UTVs are so fun because you're able to go to
04:53 places that you can go on your motorcycle but you can bring a friend.
04:57 You can bring a cooler with drinks and snacks and you get to experience
05:03 mother nature's glory in a little bit different type of way. I like UTVs. It's a
05:10 really natural fit for a motorcycle guy who wants to bring a friend, have
05:17 additional accessories in a Kutra Ma during the ride just to make it more
05:22 pleasurable. Of course riding motorcycles is still awesome too but in a perfect
05:27 world you want to have a UTV and a couple motorcycles. That will really
05:33 check a lot of boxes for the modern power sport enthusiast. Alright folks
05:38 enough talking about this thing. Let's hop into the cockpit and put down some
05:42 miles. Alright folks here we are about to start our UTV poker run and look a good
05:51 old-fashioned mechanical key. I love it but this key looks kind of flimsy for a
05:57 $20,500 vehicle this key should look better. This almost looks like a key that
06:03 would be on a KLR 650 or a KLX mini bike. Let's insert the key into the
06:13 ignition. These vehicles have automotive style ignitions. You make
06:19 sure your foot is on the brake, twist the key and the engine starts up. Now unlike
06:28 normal automobile the transmission has no park. It has a high gear, a low gear,
06:38 neutral and reverse. We also have a mechanical cable actuated parking brake.
06:45 Now the vehicle is in H mode. H stands for high. That is designed for all-around
06:55 forward vehicle movement. Conversely L is also for forward vehicle
07:04 movement but this is a low range setting. This is for when you are going up
07:09 extremely steep or going down extremely steep.
07:15 "And then you're gonna see a set of cones on the right hand side just go past the cones."
07:19 "I heard there was some confusion out there." Okay, past the cones. "Just keep past the cones or you're gonna be back here in 30 minutes."
07:25 Thanks man. "Alright man, have fun." Thank you. That gentleman is an organizer here for the fun
07:31 UTV poker rally drive and he just told us to go past the cones. Some quick
07:38 simple directions. We have GPS navigation to keep us from being lost.
07:46 "The lights are on right here." Okay. "You can see the blinding in the back."
07:50 How do I turn them off? "Let me get you some backup and I'll tell you." Okay.
07:57 That's our buddy Jeremy McGrath right there. He is a multi-time Supercross
08:06 champ and he is an ambassador for Kawasaki Motors Corporation and he's
08:12 participating in our UTV poker run too. His KRX 1000 is outfitted with a turbo
08:22 charger. Jeremy, how do you like that turbo? How do you like that turbo? He says
08:31 he's gonna give it a run today. Very nice. Back to this vehicle. L is for low range.
08:39 That is for going up or down steep inclines. It's also a good setting to use
08:47 if you were crawling rocks or if you had to tow some kind of auxiliary vehicle
08:54 like some jet skis or a small trailer up or down some obstacles. So low is a
09:00 lower gear ratio designed for going slow and crawling. Then we have neutral.
09:06 Neutral is for when you had to tow this vehicle or when you had to roll it back
09:10 and forth when it's not under its own power. And then we have a reverse.
09:15 Now when we put it in reverse, just like an automobile, this KRX 1000 T-Rex has a
09:22 backup camera. How cool is that? So now we can see where we are going when we put
09:30 the vehicle in reverse. These vehicles are notoriously hard to see when you are
09:36 looking behind you, but with that backward camera you can see much better.
09:41 Alright folks, here we go. We are on the drive.
09:49 Now these T-Rex KRX 1000 UTVs, to operate this vehicle you need, we are in Arizona,
10:02 so technically you don't need to be wearing a helmet in this state, but for
10:09 all intensive purposes you always want to wear a helmet in these vehicles.
10:15 Unlike an automobile, there is no federally mandated safety standards or
10:24 crash testing protocol in these vehicles. So you always want to wear a helmet.
10:34 Additionally, it's a good idea to wear some gloves and a full sleeve shirt and
10:42 pant. We're going to let these guys pull ahead of us a little bit and get out of
10:47 the dust here.
10:51 Let's put it in four-wheel drive as well. Now we are in four-wheel drive.
10:58 Now this vehicle has selectable two and four-wheel drive. You can also lock the
11:08 front differential if you want to. Let's say you are crawling rocks or going over
11:17 real aggressive terrain. That front diff lock will allow you to have more control
11:25 over the vehicle in those settings.
11:34 Now this Tarex KRX 1000 benefits from electronic power steering. Electronic
11:44 power steering, just like an automobile, gives a very light steering feel in this
11:51 vehicle. It's very light, which I like a lot. You immediately notice it when you
11:59 are moving at parking lot speeds and this vehicle is very easy to control in
12:06 those conditions. Now the great thing about having four wheels under us as
12:13 opposed to two is we are able to bring all of our doodads and our gadgets.
12:19 We've got snacks, we've got waters, we've got some extra clothes in case
12:25 it gets more chilly while we're riding. It just allows you to bring more
12:30 stuff, yet you still get to experience the thrill of off-road driving or
12:37 riding in pretty technical terrain. As you can see here, the terrain is fairly
12:45 rocky in the Arizona and Southern California deserts.
12:51 And even on a dirt bike this would be a little bit, not a little bit aggressive.
13:01 Also the great thing about these side-by-sides is because they're
13:09 automotive based, it is easier to be able to understand how to operate these
13:17 things. For most people there are millions upon millions upon millions of
13:24 licensed drivers in the United States. So in theory they would have some
13:31 understanding of how to operate this vehicle because it is more automotive
13:38 based. I am going to slide the seat a little bit forward guys. This seat has
13:46 manual adjustments so you can move it fore or aft. I had it a little bit
13:54 farther back than I thought I would want so I slid it forward. Now the ergonomics
14:01 in this vehicle are, like we said, rather automotive. But in the UTV segment the
14:10 KRX 1000 is a little bit less sporty feeling in terms of ergonomics than some
14:19 of its competitors in the class. But that's not necessarily a bad thing
14:25 because you sit higher in this vehicle you have a good view angle. Whether
14:32 you're going up inclines or down inclines like we just did, your visibility
14:38 is at a rather high level which I like. Some of the other vehicles you are
14:44 sunken in rather low in the cockpit much like a sports car which is awesome too
14:51 depending on your driving style and the type of terrain you're operating the
14:57 vehicle on. But this this big viewport and the fact that we sit up a little bit
15:05 taller in the seat is not a bad thing at all. Alright folks we're gonna let these
15:13 guys get ahead a little bit and here we go.
15:19 Now we can see
15:23 kinda we can see
15:32 now this vehicle is powered by Kawasaki's triple 9cc parallel twin with
15:41 eight that ooh this dusty silt is impossible to see through. We'll just
15:47 crawl right through it until we have better view. Now we have better visibility.
15:53 So this is powered by parallel twin displacing 1000 CC water-cooled eight
16:01 valve cylinder head. Now Kawasaki says this engine is good for right around a
16:10 hundred and sixteen horsepower at the crankshaft
16:16 and the the power on this on this Tarex KRX 1000 it's very smooth. This is a
16:29 very easy vehicle to operate. There's no power hit. It almost feels like you're
16:36 driving or riding up
16:40 just like a smooth four-stroke go-kart that just doesn't have any crazy power
16:47 hit. It just puts power back to the tires in a real trackable manner and that's
16:54 good for a fellow like me who doesn't spend a lot of time operating in this
17:00 type of vehicle. So it's nice to have a real friendly power band.
17:07 Yes but once you lay into that throttle it's got some get up and go.
17:17 This instrument panel right here it's a little bit dusty but it's got the
17:25 vehicle speed listed prominently. We have the transmission position which we are
17:32 in high. If we were in L we would not be able to go nearly as quick as we could
17:38 due to the lower gear ratios that the vehicle would be operating in.
17:44 The other things like the four-wheel drive designator that could be a little
17:52 bit bigger. It's hard to even see if I'm even in four-wheel drive right now. I
17:57 know I turned this knob from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive but for
18:02 whatever reason I can't visually see that indicator to confirm if I am in
18:08 four-wheel drive and it doesn't almost even feel like I am because I don't
18:12 really feel those front tires grabbing the rocks when I give them gas like you
18:18 would if you were in four-wheel drive.
18:23 This color TFT is very nice. Now my Valentino Rossi gloves are not touchpad
18:35 compatible so unfortunately I can't control this vehicle with these gloves
18:41 so I highly recommend getting a wearing a pair of gloves that have material on
18:50 the index figure which is screen compatible.
18:56 This screen we're in right now shows the vehicle speed, engine RPM. There's also a
19:03 GPS mode which we can enable by pushing this button which is very neat. How neat
19:10 is that this vehicle comes with a GPS with a moving map to help mitigate you
19:18 getting lost when you're out on the trail.
19:24 I love exploring the wonder of Mother Nature behind the wheel of a car like
19:37 this Tarex UTV.
19:41 A little shortcut I think.
19:51 Race course shortcut. Now this Tarex KRX 1000 has 19 inches of
20:01 front suspension travel and just over 20 out back and it's delivering a pretty
20:09 favorable ride. It's always not the best when you're getting jolted around up and
20:17 down and getting your kidneys pummeled by the jolts of the vehicle but I am not
20:24 feeling that. It is actually a really smooth ride. To be fair this terrain
20:31 isn't overly technical nor is it overly fast and wide open like it can be in the
20:39 desert but for a recreational ride which is what we're doing right now, the
20:46 suspension performs pretty good. It's definitely nice and comfortable
20:52 yet this vehicle still has an adequate level of control and directional
21:00 input when I turn the steering wheel. The steering feels a little bit looser than
21:09 it would in a modern automobile but I wouldn't necessarily say that's a
21:14 bad. Now dimensionally this car measures 68 inches in width which is literally
21:24 splitting the difference between the modern 64 inch cars and the long travel
21:34 72 inch cars and that little bit of extra width helps add stability to the
21:43 chassis so when you're going around these sharp turns at speed the vehicle
21:50 has less propensity to roll. Rolling and safety, keeping the vehicle on four
21:59 wheels is a very important thing. These UTVs have had a horrible safety track
22:06 record with people rolling them and hurting themselves due to that type of
22:13 vehicle condition and while you can roll any type of vehicle, doesn't matter what
22:19 it is, even F1 cars can roll. You have greater stability with that few extra
22:28 inches of wheel track.
22:33 Conversely the wheelbase on this vehicle it's just under a hundred inches and it
22:41 adds good stability. Oh yes, hill climb. I love hill climbs guys. Here we go.
22:49 I love hill climbs.
22:55 Yes, that was so fun. All right I think we are in four-wheel drive. If we weren't in
23:02 four-wheel drive I think that hill climb would have been a little bit tough to
23:07 navigate. Again, I like this viewport of the vehicle. It makes it easy to see. What
23:18 a great way to experience Mother Nature and hopping in your UTV with your
23:24 buddies and everyone can bring a friend and bring stuff and have a good time.
23:29 What's up John Rawl? I'm having a great time. Thank you. All right we're gonna put
23:33 the moving map on real quick. Here we are. As you can see 84 degrees outside, 904
23:42 a.m. There's the moving map. We are near Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
23:50 We have a fuel gauge which keeps tabs on the 10, 10 point something gallon fuel
23:58 tank. There's also a handy CVT belt temperature gauge that lets you know if
24:07 your CVT belt is getting too hot. Heat is the thing that kills CVT belts more than
24:16 anything. So the key to keeping your CVT in good shape and making sure that it
24:23 goes the distance and doesn't need to be replaced is to keep that thing cool. Our
24:28 gauge says that the temperature of the belt is low which is perfect. A nice
24:35 subtle design touch. Thank You Kawasaki. We appreciate you paying attention to
24:42 the details. Now CVT transmissions are an interesting way of transferring power.
24:51 CVT stands for constant velocity so there's always tension being put on that
24:59 belt and that helps allow for the instantaneous power that this KRX 1000
25:11 is capable of. It also makes for a really easy driving experience. There's no gears
25:18 to shift.
25:23 And it's just easy.
25:29 I almost thought we were lost for a second. I'm like where are we?
25:35 And these UTV guided poker run style rides are so fun because the
25:43 organization sets the course. They help ensure that you don't get lost with
25:50 these handy arrows so you know which way to go.
25:54 If you don't report back by a certain time they know that you are out and
26:00 something may have happened to you and it's just a lot more safe way to operate
26:08 a vehicle like this.
26:13 I also like that the tracks of these four-wheel drive vehicles are much
26:18 deeper and wider than a motorcycle so it's easier just to follow your buddy
26:23 and be like oh we're going that way.
26:27 These vehicles also throw a little more dust so you can just follow the dust
26:34 tracks and know where to go that way.
26:40 Alright folks I am gonna put my head down and get back to driving. No talking.
26:47 We will catch up with you in a little bit here. Now just like when you're
26:53 riding a heavy adventure touring motorcycle off-road you have to be very
26:58 careful about where you put the wheels on these vehicles when you're riding
27:04 off-road. You need to make sure that you stay away from sharp edged rocks. If you
27:14 do have to hit a sharp edged rock you want to make sure you tackle it straight
27:19 on and not on the edge of the tire or near the sidewall because it's very easy
27:25 to get a sidewall puncture on these tires. Yes Kawasaki has a heavy
27:33 rated ply tire on this vehicle but still it's still very easy to puncture the
27:41 sidewall on these tires. So make sure if you see those sharp rocks you want to
27:46 hit them dead on and not on the tire side. So even though you're in a 1800
27:55 some pound vehicle it actually is quite a bit like riding a big heavy adventure
28:01 touring bike because if you ever ridden a big heavy adventure touring bike
28:05 off-road you'll understand that you have to be very careful with the tires. Getting
28:11 a flat can ruin your day and put you behind time schedule wise so don't do
28:18 that. Now even though Kawasaki is a Japanese company it has a long history
28:26 in the United States and these Tarex vehicles ever since their first
28:35 production in 2008 have been built right here in America in Lincoln Nebraska
28:42 that's right Kawasaki has a US-based production facility in Nebraska that is
28:52 where it puts together its KRX 1000, its Jet Ski watercraft, and its Kawasaki
29:06 Mule working UTV. So these vehicles are built right here in America how cool is
29:18 that?
29:20 Kawasaki also stands behind its UTV with a six-month warranty. It's a six-month
29:29 warranty on everything if anything is to fail. It also offers extended warranty
29:37 options so if you're someone who really wants to have extra coverage on your
29:43 vehicle Kawasaki offers that but it's important to remember that Kawasaki
29:49 really prides itself on building high quality vehicles that stand the test of
29:57 time. It invests very heavily in engineering and durability testing so
30:08 when you buy a Kawasaki vehicle it's going to have to meet much higher
30:15 durability standards than other UTV manufacturers that produce
30:22 vehicles in Mexico and here in the United States. So these vehicles
30:31 obviously they're designed for a life of off-roading
30:37 and they are always going to be beat up all the time exposed to rocks, dirt, grit,
30:43 water, mud, sand, and it's really important to have a vehicle that is excuse the
30:50 adage built for tough and that's what you get with these Kawasaki Terrax UTVs
30:57 they are built for tough. Alright folks we are arriving at the Poker Run Rally
31:06 checkpoint this is where they check us in and make sure we've completed this
31:13 section and then we go on to the next section we have this sticker here they
31:21 make a mark on it and that allows them to delineate who has hit this checkpoint
31:30 thanks man yep thank you it's fun thanks thanks dude
31:40 we will pull in behind our friends and colleagues here wait for the Kawasaki
31:47 Terrax KRX 1000 non-competition team to get up here now this vehicle in addition
31:57 to have having manual seat position adjustment forward and back we also have
32:03 tilt steering tilt steering which allows you to adjust the way the hand the
32:09 steering wheel is in your hands I wish this tilt steering also had a function
32:17 where you could pull the steering wheel back it's not like I have a big stretch
32:22 to grab the steering wheel but I really like when the steering wheel is close in
32:25 my hands it would be nice if it had adjustment forward and back other
32:34 creature comforts include a 12-volt power port so we can charge our devices
32:41 we have a glove box where we have our radio and some waters there's also some
32:46 cup holders here I like that this vehicle comes with a fire extinguisher
32:51 just in case we have a low power mode so let's say you're just getting into UTV
32:59 driving and you don't want to experience the full force of the parallel twin
33:07 engine you can put it in low power mode and it offers a more mellow engine power
33:14 map it's good if you are teaching your kids how to drive or if you've never
33:22 owned sport UTV and you're looking to just kind of figure out the dynamic of
33:29 the vehicle you can do it in a more safe and user-friendly manner with that low
33:36 power setting
33:39 I really like how comfortable this vehicle is the suspension does a nice
33:46 job of soaking up the bumps and delivering me to where I want to go in
33:54 a cozy manner
33:58 that's our industry friend Scott Bell he is brothers with the late Mike Bell who
34:09 was a professional motocross racer back in the older days
34:18 and again that's the fun thing about driving these UTVs you can bring your
34:23 whole crew with you and everyone can have fun even if they don't have good
34:29 ability on motorcycles or maybe they're older they don't have dexterity they
34:33 used to when they're younger and riding motorcycles is just too uncomfortable
34:37 pop in the seat of one of these Tarek's KRX 1000s and you don't have to worry
34:44 about that more creature comforts come in the form of this map storage pop
34:50 pocket another USB power port I love this big wide rearview mirror does a
34:59 good job of showing you what's behind this see-through roofs also nice because
35:05 it lets light into the cabin sometimes with these UTVs they it's get so dark in
35:12 here and you can't see anything and this a little bit of light really does a good
35:16 job of just illuminating the controls and the display this UTV also has the
35:24 ability to play music it also has blue tooth functions how cool is that let's
35:32 get going look at that metrics it shows the vehicle pitch and roll settings love
35:41 that I love having data and information shared with me in a very nice and
35:48 legible way and this color TFT display does just that I love how sharp the
35:55 fonts are and the general crispness of the display resolution how fun is this
36:03 we're going near 40 miles per hour over these big tips and then small valleys
36:10 how neat is that
36:13 get some room so we can get some dust free trail
36:20 and let's give her the beans it is getting the beans look how
36:28 beautiful it is out here in the desert we can see the lush cactus and hedge bush
36:37 oh that silt is gnarly there now you can see it there's like Baja style talcum
36:42 powder silt clouding our vision back to the beauty of the desert we have gotten
36:50 some monsoon style rains this past summer which have made for very idyllic
37:01 conditions here in the desert the cactus and the shrubs are happy they got some
37:08 moisture in them this KRX 1000 has a top speed of 68 miles per hour
37:19 68 miles per hour is its top speed it is governed at that speed so it can't go
37:27 beyond it now when you're arriving upwards of 50 miles per hour into the
37:34 60s this parallel twin has a nice little boost of power
37:40 Kawasaki vehicles are always renowned for their punchy engine feel and even
37:47 though the power is is a little bit modest down low once you get this thing
37:54 spooled up it has a nice little punch it's it's nothing crazy or it doesn't
38:02 offer the same smacking the face level of acceleration as the forced air
38:10 induction vehicles but still it's enough to put a smile on my face when I was
38:16 doing some research on this vehicle before I was kind of skeptical about the
38:20 parallel twin engine configuration whether it was going to have enough
38:25 power to put a smile on my face but it does and because this vehicle achieves a
38:32 little bit lower top speeds in a way it's almost just easier it's easier to
38:38 wrap your head around the speeds that you can achieve in this TRX now
38:45 everything that goes has to stop and quadruple four disc brakes are
38:52 incorporated in this KRX 1000 there's a disc brake on every wheel the front two
38:59 wheels benefit from a double piston caliper while the rear wheels have
39:07 single piston calipers and the braking capability on this Kawasaki it's nice I
39:16 like how the pedal doesn't feel as mushy as it as I remember it did on the old
39:24 TRX 800 it's not gonna be totally sharp but it's got some bite to it
39:35 I also like that the brakes when you get into the pedal the power doesn't ramp up
39:42 super aggressively that helps you maximize the traction you have from
39:49 these 31 inch neats when you are applying the brakes there is no ABS on
39:57 this vehicle it's a full manual braking experience and I'm
40:04 think that's just fine ABS on these vehicles would be very hard to program
40:10 yes you could program some advanced off-road ABS but realistically if you're
40:17 just smooth with your left foot or right foot I use my left foot for braking it
40:24 isn't a big deal and I still have good vehicle control
40:31 this is fun just blasting through this open test
40:37 there is some heat in the cockpit the powertrain does emit some heat you have
40:46 to remember the radiators actually positioned in front of the vehicle even
40:51 though the engine is behind and I definitely feel some heat on my legs
40:57 and on my feet it's a pretty mild day at 73 degrees Fahrenheit with low humidity
41:07 so the heat isn't overpowering in fact if it was a chilly day I'd probably like
41:14 that heat but it's something to know if it was hotter out 90 100 degrees that
41:21 cockpit hit heat on my legs and on my feet would definitely get annoying this
41:28 CVT with the centrifugal clutch it has a lot more response than I remember a CVT
41:36 transmission equipped vehicle having those things always had a little bit of
41:40 a lag this thing doesn't have a lag anymore it's much more responsive I like
41:47 it
41:49 even the annoying CVT drone doesn't seem to be nearly as loud as I as I
41:56 remember on the terex 800 those things were just so loud and just vacuum
42:02 cleaner sounding this has a little bit more pleasing tone it's still a CVT so
42:09 it's not gonna sound as good as if you were banging gears in the tuning fork
42:14 brands offering or big reds slick shifting DCT setup but it is better than
42:24 I remember and here we are folks in the loose rocky section and the terex in
42:34 four-wheel drive open front diff tackles it without a fuss we have our two
42:42 colleagues in front of us also tackling the rock section who this is fun now
42:51 these rocks are nearly big enough to necessitate low range but if it was
42:58 bigger sized rocks steeper terrain I could see how we would want to use a low
43:06 range but because the terrains not too technical not too rocky high range high
43:15 range transmission mode is just a okay
43:19 even though the wheel track and the wheel base has grown on this vehicle
43:26 compared to the terex of old it's not too big I really like the steering and
43:31 how precise it is to put this side-by-side where you want on trail
43:40 it's also nice riding a side-by-side because it just doesn't beat you up like
43:45 a motorcycle and here we are folks at another poker run stop thank you
43:54 what's that okay thanks man that gentleman was just giving us an update
44:04 we couldn't find stop number two this is number three but no one can find stop
44:10 number two for no some reason so it's all good now this KRX 1000 does not have
44:18 a stereo in it it's got compatibility for a stereo there's just no speakers
44:23 that is available via accessory from the accessory catalog or via the aftermarket
44:31 let's get back to driving this sand wash stuff is so fun I love why deep riding
44:38 in sand washes it's fun to feel the vehicle be all loose and then it's also
44:45 awesome because that sand really sucks down the engine so you have to be really
44:50 aggressive with the throttle and it just feels fun that was a quick 60 some miles
44:58 on the UTF World Championship course we did it in right around three hours with
45:09 taking water breaks and stopping to look at stuff not so bad overall a very
45:16 comfortable ride and a very easy UTV to drive if you don't have a lot of
45:28 experience operating one of these things that shouldn't hold you back powers nice
45:34 and mellow suspension is nice and subtle cars wide relatively long handles very
45:41 easily let's wrap things up and then call her a day all right folks we just
45:47 finished up our UTV poker on and now it's time to play I'm gonna win big
45:54 money come on good luck draw last name last
45:57 oh you like a H EED at the very end right yeah go ahead now psych draw good
46:05 one yep draw great you've got three clubs pair of sevens okay keep the
46:13 sevens yeah yeah come on get two more great
46:18 seven seven eight is high two five okay seven seven eight high okay okay oh
46:26 sorry hair yeah yeah I'm not so good at poker guys maybe I'll learn one day
46:30 thank you for having us you're welcome well folks that was a fun morning
46:35 trading two wheels for four wheels behind the wheel of Kawasaki's Tarek's
46:40 KRX 1000 this is a very fun and easy UTV to drive I like that it takes me to the
46:51 same places that I can go on my off-road dirt bike yet I can be more comfortable
46:57 I can bring my waters I can bring my snacks I can bring my camera gear and it
47:02 still gives me a good sensation for someone who wants to ride and experience
47:10 the thrill of the outdoors would I spend twenty thousand five hundred dollars for
47:17 the base model I would definitely consider it I really like the fact that
47:22 you can bring a friend along I like the fact that there's room to bring goodies
47:27 and that you can go on longer rides than you could maybe on your motorcycle just
47:32 because of the added comfort and the added fuel capacity if I was to make
47:39 this mine it also probably thrown a couple accessories I really like that
47:44 light bar that would work really good for night driving I'd probably put a
47:49 stereo in there too because who doesn't like listening to their fuse favorite
47:53 tunes when they're out on the trail alright folks that's a wrap from this
