00:00 Today, we're going over everything that you need to know to be prepared for the week ahead
00:06 in the stock market, especially as we have earnings coming up and a pretty big economic
00:12 week.
00:13 So, let's take a look, starting with Monday, going through Friday, what you need to know
00:17 to be prepared in the market.
00:19 As always, my name is Gav Blacksburg.
00:21 I run the Wolf Financial account on Twitter.
00:23 I'm here with Evan from Stock Market News.
00:26 If you enjoy this type of content, go ahead, throw a like and subscribe to the channel
00:30 that you're watching this on.
00:32 Let's dive right into it.
00:34 Monday we are off, but Evan, for the rest of the week, what is the most important pieces
00:37 standing out to you?
00:38 Yeah, first of all, doubling down on that, the stock market is closed on Monday for Martin
00:44 Luther King Jr. Day.
00:45 That's the U.S. stock market.
00:46 Some international markets might be open, but the U.S. market is closed.
00:51 So we have Empire State Manufacturing Index, retail sales, Beige Book.
00:57 We have a couple other stuff there.
00:58 And then later in the week is where it maybe becomes a little bit more interesting for
01:02 me.
01:03 We have some jobless claims and we have a couple of Fed speakers going as well.
01:06 We have Bernard and we have Waller as well.
01:09 Is there any of the macro headlines that stand out to you?
01:13 Yeah, I think I'm just going to be really looking at these continuing jobless claims,
01:16 initial jobless claims, especially as we see that stuff accelerating here with layoffs
01:21 and other pieces that we talked about in our previous videos.
01:24 Those are really I'm looking at.
01:25 And then I think existing home sales is going to be pretty important, too.
01:28 I was talking with some friends about the state of the housing market.
01:31 When do the buying opportunities start?
01:33 Are they within the next three months, six months, a year?
01:35 So just seeing these numbers gives a pretty good idea around those pieces.
01:39 And then, of course, we have more Fed speaking.
01:42 As always, the Fed has taken a little bit of a tune with their speeches lately, basically
01:47 saying don't play chicken with us.
01:50 So let's see what they say this week.
01:52 Anything else to cover in the economic calendar?
01:53 Should we dive into earnings?
01:55 Yeah, I'm not the best of the macro guys.
01:58 The earnings season is definitely where I get my chops and we are really starting to
02:03 get back into it.
02:04 We have banks going on Friday.
02:06 We have more banks going this week and our first like real massive tech company going
02:10 in Netflix.
02:11 So I'm excited for this week.
02:13 I definitely am.
02:14 We have some expectations and what time to expect them.
02:18 First ones we got here, we're looking at Netflix, which will be reporting on Thursday.
02:24 What time is the numbers coming out?
02:26 4 p.m. sharp.
02:27 Yeah, they also do normally or the last couple of times they've been posting them to YouTube
02:32 with a nice pre-recorded video and some other stuff.
02:35 So I was a fan of the way Netflix did their earnings.
02:37 But what are those numbers on there?
02:39 What are we expecting?
02:40 Let's talk about it.
02:41 So if they meet the X, oh, it says 49 percent looking at a beat and estimation is EPS of
02:48 45 cents, as well as revenue of seven point eight two billion dollars with a 49 percent
02:56 expectation of a beat.
02:58 So that's what we are looking for within Netflix.
03:01 And then I also know that you wanted to see on the same day Procter and Gamble, the even
03:06 bigger name than Netflix, potentially, if you're looking at market cap.
03:10 Yeah, yeah.
03:11 With an estimation of one point five eight dollars of EPS and twenty point five eight
03:17 billion dollars of revenue.
03:19 Yeah, perfect.
03:21 And then going over to Tuesday, which was also the other really, really big day on the
03:26 week in the morning, we have Goldman Sachs, which I'm definitely going to be watching.
03:31 Wall Street is expecting five dollars and twenty five cents on EPS, eleven point four
03:36 four billion dollars on revenue.
03:38 Morgan Stanley is also pretty big.
03:40 And Wolf, I know in the crypto realm, Silvergate Capital has been getting a lot of exposure
03:46 recently.
03:47 So I wonder what we're going to be hearing on earnings.
03:49 Yeah.
03:50 Silvergate, they took a really rough tumble this week.
03:53 There's discussions of all types of things around them with crypto and potential losses
03:57 that they've taken.
03:59 Revenue only coming in at one hundred and four point seven three million dollars for
04:03 them this quarter.
04:04 So that's the expectation.
04:06 Let's see what actually happens with it.
04:08 Outside of those, not too many other names that stand out to people.
04:11 Like you said, we've got our banks coming in hot throughout here.
04:14 We've got United Airlines coming in after the close on Tuesday.
04:17 That might be one that people do play.
04:19 Alcoa and Discover, some names in here, not too much on Wednesday.
04:22 And then, yeah, the big ones, Netflix, PG, and then rounding out the week, we've got
04:27 Ally Bank, some of those other smaller names as well.
04:30 But I think we've covered all the big ones that people need to have on their radar.
04:34 Anything else for the week ahead that people should be looking at?
04:36 No, I think we got to most of it.
04:40 There will always be a lot more news stories that come out.
04:42 This is just kind of the plan stuff before.
04:44 If you enjoyed this quick video helping you get ready, I'm sure over the next couple of
04:49 weeks that this earnings list is going to be a lot more full.
04:51 This video might get a little bit longer, but we're just looking for more ways to help
04:54 everybody.
