00:00 Welcome to the CMA Awards. I'm your host, Luke Bryan.
00:04 [Cheering]
00:06 And I'm your host, Peyton Manning. We're back.
00:10 The 2023 CMA Awards were on November 8th, and they brought out country music and Hollywood's biggest stars.
00:17 Access Hollywood is breaking down the top moments from the night from Post Malone's performance with Morgan Wallen to Laini Wilson winning big.
00:25 Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were on everyone's mind at the event.
00:30 Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning hosted the awards show again and brought up Travis and Taylor's budding romance in their opening monologue.
00:37 We are back, and you know what that means.
00:39 Yep, Travis and Taylor weren't available.
00:42 Yep, exactly. Luke, do you know the difference between Taylor Swift and the New York Jets?
00:48 Uh, Taylor can sell out a stadium?
00:51 You nailed it. I, uh, had you do that punchline, Luke, so I wouldn't get in trouble.
00:58 That wasn't the only fun moment from their opener. After Luke called out Peyton for singing on stage,
01:04 he quizzed the famed NFL quarterback on his country music knowledge, and Peyton nailed it.
01:10 You got to know when to hold on, know when to fold on, know when to walk away.
01:19 The CMAs were filled with some major country music star power and some Hollywood A-listers too,
01:25 like Nicole Kidman, who sat next to her husband, Keith Urban, Chase Stokes, who accompanied his girlfriend, Kelsey Ballerini,
01:31 and Post Malone, who was spotted laughing next to Morgan Wallen.
01:34 Aside from bringing the celebs, the CMAs also had some major performances from Luke Bryan, Ashley McBride, Chris Stapleton, and more.
01:43 But it was Cody Johnson's performance that was extra special.
01:46 During his set, the country star had a photo of his wife, Brandi, in the background, and the performance almost moved her to tears.
01:52 Another major performance? Post Malone. The singer is getting ready to release a country album,
01:58 and he teamed up with Morgan Wallen and Hardy to sing songs from Joey Diffie.

02:09 Jelly Roll took the stage not once, but twice. He opened the show and brought out surprise guest, Wynonna Judd.
02:15 He then returned to close out the show with K. Michelle.
02:19 Of course, it wouldn't be an award show without some winners.
02:23 It was a big night for the song "Fast Car." Luke Combs took the prize for single of the year for his cover of the 1988 classic.
02:31 When he accepted the award, he thanked Tracy Chapman, who wrote it.
02:34 First and foremost, I want to thank Tracy Chapman for writing one of the best songs of all time.
02:38 Never, never intended for that. I just recorded it because I love this song so much.
02:47 It's meant so much to me throughout my entire life. It's the first favorite song that I ever had from the time I was four years old.
02:53 The track later on won song of the year. The win was particularly special because Tracy Chapman took home a CMA award for a song she wrote decades ago.
03:02 Tracy is unable to be here tonight, but she sent this message. I'm sorry I couldn't join you all tonight.
03:10 It's truly an honor for my song to be newly recognized after 35 years of its debut. Wow.
03:18 Thank you to the CMAs and a special thanks to Luke and all of the fans of "Fast Car."
03:25 Other big winners, Chris Stapleton, who won male vocalist of the year. Jelly Roll won new artist of the year.
03:32 And Laini Wilson took home three of the top awards of the night.
03:35 Female vocalist of the year, entertainer of the year and album of the year.
03:39 When accepting her award for female vocalist, Laini gave a special message to girls watching back home.
03:45 For all you little girls watching and for the ones that are here tonight, too.
03:49 It's something that I'm doing. I'm getting up every single day and I'm looking at myself in the mirror and saying,
03:53 "I am beautiful, I am smart, I am talented, I am godly, I am fearless."
03:58 If somebody tells me I can't do it, hold my beer, watch this.
04:01 [applause]
04:04 Us girls, y'all, we've been having to blaze trails from the very, very beginning.
04:10 And I just want to say thank you so much for letting me be a part of that.
04:15 And here's to all the ladies who blaze trails every single dang day of their life.
