00:00 DreamWorks founder Jeffrey Katzenberg predicts that generative artificial intelligence will
00:04 cut the number of workers it takes to make animated films in the future.
00:08 Katzenberg spoke about AI during the Bloomberg New Economy Summit in Singapore on Thursday.
00:13 "I don't know of an industry that will be more impacted than any aspect of media entertainment
00:21 and creation."
00:22 He went on to detail how he thinks AI will be used in the entertainment industry.
00:25 "I think if you look at how media has been impacted in the last 10 years by the introduction
00:34 of digital technology, what will happen in the next 10 years will be 10x as great."
00:39 Katzenberg continued, "I think AI as a creative tool has so much opportunity around it."
00:44 "Well, the good old days when I made an animated movie, it took 500 artists 5 years to make
00:50 a world class animated movie.
00:54 I think it won't take 10% of that."
00:56 He continued, "Literally, I don't think it will take 10% of that 3 years out from now."
01:00 However, he says the ideas for those projects will not come from AI.
01:04 "I think that is still going to come from creativity, individual creativity."
