01:33:25 I think the UK acted very quickly to bring in substantial amounts of humanitarian aid for the immediate relief of the millions of people that were affected by the floods.

01:34:47 One particular one which I think is really exciting is the use of AI to develop an early warning, an early detection system for forest fires.
01:34:57 Which identifies where the fires are likely to break out, how they will spread.
01:35:03 And this will allow, will trigger responses in the local communities to ensure that they can defend themselves as far as possible and move away from danger.
01:35:12 This is being done in collaboration with LUMS and with the World Wide Fund for Nature.
01:35:16 It's a pilot at the moment.
01:35:18 We're aiming to scale it up across vulnerable areas in Pakistan.
01:35:22 It's a very exciting development.
01:35:24 >> So COP28 is on the horizon.
01:35:28 Can you please outline what the UK will be advocating for?
01:35:32 >> Yes.
01:35:34 >> What is COP28?
01:35:36 >> So COP28 is the climate group, international climate group that will get together in Dubai in a few weeks' time, a few days' time really.
01:35:47 To actually assess how far we've got on our commitments and to understand how we can strengthen those commitments and screw down further on climate change.
01:35:57 So what we want from COP28 is a commitment to 1.5, the commitment to 1.5 by 2030.
01:36:06 And keeping that alive is really important for us.
01:36:09 Secondly, we want to look at ways we can further build resilient communities.
01:36:16 And keep driving, keep improving our offer on this.
01:36:20 And then really important to us is stopping and reversing the trend of biodiversity loss globally.
01:36:31 And this is something which we've worked very hard at to bring into COP to understand the relationship between climate and biodiversity.
01:36:40 And for me, I think what I would like to see is Pakistan extend the leadership it displayed at COP27 into COP28.
01:36:49 And partner with some of the programs that we're delivering.
01:36:53 And I'm really excited about working with Pakistan on this.
01:36:57 >> So Pakistan is known to be a climate vulnerable country as you say before.
01:37:02 What would you like to see Pakistan do more of to weather future climate shocks?
01:37:09 >> I think there are a number of areas here.
01:37:12 I mean one area which I think is critical is there's a huge climate financing gap in Pakistan.
01:37:19 And to fill that gap, Pakistan has got to crowd in significant private sector investments, domestic and international.
01:37:29 And for companies to invest, they need stable macroeconomics.
01:37:33 And they need a clear rule of law.
01:37:36 And they need to understand that where there are disputes, they will be settled easily.
01:37:40 So I think there's a macroeconomic issue there.
01:37:43 I'd also really welcome Pakistan joining the Commonwealth Blue Marine Charters Action Group.
01:37:51 And I think that there's a real benefit here for Pakistan.
01:37:55 This is about innovative and quality stewardship of marine resources.
01:37:59 Pakistan already exports about 400 million pounds worth of fish product.
01:38:04 And if they were able to join this group to share the innovative best practices that are developing there, you could see that growing quite considerably.
01:38:15 >> Like now everybody is aware that the UK is about to celebrate the 75th birthday of King Charles III in November.
01:38:27 And I know I'm invited as well.
01:38:30 King Charles is known for being an advocate for the environment.
01:38:34 Can you tell us a bit about the environmental interests and how you are planning to celebrate his birthday here in Pakistan?
01:38:43 >> So, yeah, he's always been an advocate for the environment and, you know, made significant changes to his own estates years and years before anyone was talking about climate change.
01:38:55 Introducing solar power, organic farming methods.
01:38:58 And this is something the whole royal family is now very, very positive about, including the Prince of Wales, Prince William, who's head of the Earthshot Prize.
01:39:07 So this is key.
01:39:09 And because of this, as we celebrate the king's birthday over the coming weeks in three parties in Lahore, in Islamabad and here in Karachi, we'll be very much focusing on green themes.
01:39:21 And all the products that we use will be sustainably sourced.
01:39:25 And this is very much how we want to achieve this.
01:39:29 And also for us in the Deputy High Commission in Karachi, it's an opportunity to celebrate our yearlong relationship with the Karachi Relief Trust, who are rebuilding after the floods and who we are looking at moments to support their funding and fundraising events.
