00:00 The 2007 Mercedes-Benz E320 BlueTec is the first of what Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volkswagen
00:12 hope will be a diesel revolution in the states.
00:15 BlueTec is what the aforementioned companies want to be stamped on all fuel-efficient,
00:19 low-emissions diesel-powered vehicles.
00:21 Aside from the BlueTec badge on the tail, the outside of the E320 BlueTec looks just
00:25 like any other E-Class sedan.
00:27 Its beautifully sculpted front end is a genuine reflection of what Mercedes-Benz is and what
00:32 BlueTec can be.
00:33 It proves that efficient diesel technology can be seamlessly integrated into almost any
00:37 production vehicle without sacrificing style or brand identity.
00:41 Under the hood is where the difference can be seen.
00:43 A 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 with four valves per cylinder and common rail direct injection
00:49 produces 208 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque and gets an estimated fuel economy
00:54 of 26 miles per gallon city and 37 miles per gallon highway.
00:58 The E320's engine is mated to a seven-speed adaptive automatic transmission and runs from
01:03 zero to 60 miles per hour in 6.6 seconds.
01:06 The inside of the vehicle is filled with all of the traditional comfort and safety features
01:10 found in every other E-Class car including electronic stability control, a pre-safe system,
01:15 and eight airbags as well as four-zone climate control, a Harman Kardon Logic 7 digital surround
01:21 sound system with available iPod integration, and an available panorama sunroof to let the
01:25 sun in on pleasant days.
01:27 Unfortunately for Californians, the E320 doesn't meet the more stringent restrictions imposed
01:32 by the state, but future models will once they include the next generation AdBlue system
01:36 that converts nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water.
