Watch the unveiling of the Jeep Trailhawk Concept and an overview of its styling by Nick Vardis
Transcript
00:00 At the 2007 North American International Auto Show, Jeep revealed the Trailhawk concept
00:22 vehicle.
00:23 We had a chance to catch up with the designer of the exterior of the Trailhawk and ask him
00:27 a few questions.
00:28 This is Mark Williams here at the Jeep booth.
00:31 We've got Nico Vardis with us.
00:32 He's the designer of this new Jeep Trailhawk.
00:35 Nico, can you talk to us about the overview of this vehicle?
00:38 Why was it made?
00:39 Well, this is strictly a concept vehicle that we produced at Chrysler.
00:44 It's merging the two spectrums of Grand Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler and bringing those two things
00:50 together as one.
00:53 And just parking back on the Jeep heritage that we have, the open air kind of experiences
00:58 and the rugged qualities that you can go off road and do all kinds of traveling and exploring
01:05 that way.
01:06 Talk to us a little bit about the exterior look.
01:08 It's pretty unique.
01:09 Yes, absolutely.
01:10 The vehicle has a real planted, rugged stance.
01:13 You know, there's wheels out to the corner, real abbreviated overhangs, a real aggressive
01:19 front end.
01:20 And, you know, we wanted to grab some character into this front end, you know, cropped eyes,
01:26 which inspired the name, actually.
01:29 The grill and the headlamps just describe that in every way.
01:34 Just the eyes are cropped slightly.
01:36 That communicates some of the characteristics of a hawk.
01:39 But at this point, it's strictly a concept.
01:42 Now, gauging the reaction from the people and, you know, auto shows to come, I mean,
01:48 we'll go from there.
01:49 But right now, at this point, it's strictly a concept vehicle.
