00:00 Chrysler brought its stunning Dodge Demon concept out to Pasadena, California for a

00:09 ride and drive event featuring their hottest concept vehicles.

00:12 Weighing in at a scant 2,600 pounds and powered by a 172 horsepower, 2.4 liter engine with

00:18 a hearty 165 pound feet of torque, the Demon is aimed to compete with the legendary Mazda

00:23 MX-5.

00:24 The styling is surprisingly crisp with a viper-like flair.

00:27 So could this sharp looking roadster give the MX-5 a run for its money?

00:31 Mototrend senior online editor, Mike Floyd, tells us more.

00:35 It's definitely a vehicle that they should think about putting on the road.

00:40 If they could get it in a price range similar to what GM has with the Solstice Sky and Mazda

00:47 has with the Miata and that's what they're talking, this would be a very fine vehicle

00:52 in that price range.

00:53 Now, of course, it's a niche vehicle and not exactly one that they might be able to sell

01:01 in volume which is kind of an issue for Chrysler in some respects because right now they don't

01:10 need niche vehicles, they need vehicles that are really going to be produced in mass quantities

01:17 and sold in mass quantities.

01:19 Who doesn't like a roadster like this?

01:21 It would be a neat vehicle to have but at the same time, they have to think about the

01:26 bottom line and getting a lot more vehicles on the road.

01:30 Now, will this get people into the showroom?

01:32 It likely would.

01:33 But at the same time, you have to worry about those kind of things especially when you're

01:39 talking about Chrysler.

01:41 So what are the odds that we'll see a production Demon on the showroom floor of our local Dodge

01:45 dealer?

01:46 Well, right now it's still purely a concept but the one challenge for us is we really

01:50 don't have a platform that this is based on.

01:52 This is all new from the ground up.

01:54 We've got some bits and pieces off the shelf that we put into the interior from the Dodge

01:59 family that we were able to use but if we did go as far as to say that we wanted to

02:03 do something like that, we'd likely have to partner with someone to help us out in that

02:06 regard similar to the situation we would have with Hornet.
