00:00 There isn't much to say about the Mercedes-Benz SL600 that you can't figure out just from
00:11 looking at it.
00:12 It's beautiful, sexy, fast, and the Mercedes insignia guarantees the vehicle is going to
00:16 be loaded with the latest technology providing exceptional comfort, safety, and convenience.
00:22 The SL600 is designed to move, literally.
00:25 The agile hardtop convertible is low and aggressive and features a bold front end that cuts through
00:29 air like a samurai's sword.
00:31 Turning from a coupe to a roadster in 16 seconds, the vehicle gives the driver the option of
00:36 coupe-like security or open-top thrills.
00:39 Sporting the family hood, the SL is instantly recognizable as a Mercedes and will turn heads
00:43 when flooring it down any rural freeway.
00:46 Just be careful not to turn the wrong heads and end up seeing a light show in your rearview
00:49 mirrors.
00:50 Amazingly enough, the SL600 isn't rocket-powered, although that's what the people you pass will
00:55 assume.
00:56 It is actually powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that cranks out 510 horsepower
01:02 and 612 pound-feet of torque through a five-speed automatic transmission with touch shift.
01:07 The SL600 runs from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds with its top speed electronically
01:13 limited at 155 miles per hour.
01:16 The inside is full of all the usual amenities Mercedes customers have become accustomed to,
01:20 including Nappa leather, hand-polished wood trim, 12-way adjustable seats, DVD command
01:26 navigation system, 8-speaker Bose audio pilot, digital surround sound system, and a whole
01:32 slew of other standard features that would be pricey options on a lesser brand.
01:36 The 2007 Mercedes-Benz SL600 is an awesome vehicle with the exception of one thing.
01:42 With a price tag of $132,775, not only can I not afford it, I can't even afford the insurance
01:49 for it.
01:50 And again, I've seen a few too many of those light shows in my rearview mirrors.
