00:02 In January 2018, 20 years after the series finale,
00:08 CBS announced plans for a 13 episode reboot of Murphy Brown.
00:13 The new season is scheduled to premiere on September 27th.
00:16 - I think it was the right time to bring her back.
00:19 Diane English, who created Murphy,
00:23 and I sort of would talk about it from time to time.
00:26 We thought, well, why? We did it, what's the point?
00:30 But over the past year, there seemed to be a point.
00:35 So we had to do something, get the old gang together.
00:38 Take on this crazy new world
00:41 of alternative facts and fake news.
00:43 It's our civic duty.
00:45 And besides, you missed us.
00:49 You know you did.
00:50 They get all of us better than ever,
00:53 smarter, more confident,
00:55 and in many cases, handsomer and more gorgeous than ever.
00:59 And then they get new people.
01:02 - 32 year old Jake McDormand plays Murphy's son, Avery,
01:06 who's now all grown up and hosting a rival show
01:09 on the conservative Wolf Network.
01:11 - Avery has followed in his mother's footsteps
01:14 and been covering the campaign, the 2016 campaign.
01:17 And in doing that, the Wolf Network thought
01:20 that he'd be a good get to host kind of his own show.
01:24 - Pat Patel here, new guy.
01:26 Director of technology and social media for said new show.
01:29 - 24 year old Nick Dodani is also joining the cast
01:32 as the tech savvy Pat Patel.
01:34 - My job is to bring all the olds into the 21st century.
01:39 - I feel like people our age are gonna like it
01:41 because it's tackling these political hot button issues
01:45 in a way that's actually funny.
01:46 And it doesn't take itself too seriously.
01:48 I feel like a lot of political comedy these days
01:50 is just very just like, we're woke and we're proud of it.
