Hawks' four-game winning streak snapped against the Thunder
Transcript
00:00 Atlanta was on a four game winning streak until last night when they went on the road
00:05 face the Oklahoma City Thunder and really never had a shot to win the game at all.
00:09 I mean, the offense was really putrid all night like it was.
00:13 Trae Young had another poor shooting night.
00:15 I would argue it was Jalen Johnson's worst night of the season.
00:17 Really the only real player highlights I could tell you.
00:21 Dejounte Murray had a really good night, finished with 29 points.
00:24 Sadiq Bae and Bogey played pretty well.
00:26 But overall, the offense as a whole could not get going.
00:30 And credit to Oklahoma City, they hit a lot of tough shots.
00:32 Lou Dort especially had a really big game.
00:34 Shea Gildess Alexander, who was out on Sunday,
00:38 upgraded to questionable and then was able to play last night.
00:41 He had kind of a vintage performance, had 30 points, nearly had a triple double.
00:44 He was really solid all around and that's kind of gave me expect from a player like
00:49 him, but I mean Atlanta 37% from the field, 33% from three and
00:54 like they never found a good rhythm.
00:55 I mean, like I said, Young had another poor shooting night.
00:58 He was 5 of 18.
00:59 He did have 21 points and 11 assists, a double double, but
01:03 a lot of his, most of his points came through the free throw line.
01:07 He's not been able to get his shot down at all.
01:11 He's still been a great playmaker and still running the offense well.
01:14 And the thing is the Hawks have one of the NBA's best offenses, but
01:17 he's gonna have to figure something out with the shooting.
01:20 And hopefully he can get it going.
01:21 I don't think it's time to panic yet, but there needs to be some urgency.
01:24 But Jalen Williams, again, he came up very big.
01:29 Chet Holmgren was very big for the Thunder as well.
01:31 And look at the Hawks were playing really well.
01:34 Like I said, they won four in a row.
01:35 Three of them were by double digits and it would have been all four by double digits
01:39 if they hadn't screwed around at the end of the Wizards game.
01:41 But they have to, one of the, I think the key going forward,
01:44 getting off to better starts.
01:46 Going into the game, the Hawks were minus 14 in the first quarter, excuse me,
01:51 in their first six games.
01:53 That is not a good mark.
01:54 They started off slow against Minnesota.
01:56 They started off slow against Washington.
01:58 The only game I would say they've started off well this year was the blowout
02:02 went in Milwaukee.
02:03 And that was just a dominating performance start to finish.
02:06 But look, Thunder are a really good team.
02:09 They have a lot of talent.
02:11 There's no shame in losing on the road, but just figuring out the offense,
02:14 which is just getting it going earlier, I think is the key going forward.
02:18 And look, gonna have another opportunity Thursday night,
02:21 Mexico City game against Orlando, who's been playing pretty well so far this year.
02:25 It'll be another nice test, but I do expect the Hawks to win.
02:28 So it was unfortunate they had the winning streak snap, but
02:33 I'm still confident in the team going forward, but
02:35 they have to get off to better starts.
02:37 Or else it's just gonna come out to bottom in other games.
