00:00 We do know that two families have been torn apart by this tragedy here in
00:05 Daylesford. We have the names of three, a family of three, that were killed from
00:11 all from Point Cook which is in Melbourne's outer west. They were 30 year
00:15 old Jatin Chu, his 44 year old partner Pratibha Sharma and her nine year old
00:20 daughter Anvi. Now these were much-loved members of their Point Cook community.
00:25 They were very active in their service to the community there in Point Cook and
00:31 in fact foreign, Assistant Foreign Affairs Minister Tim Watts is the
00:37 federal member for Jelly Brand and he appeared on ABC this morning where he
00:42 paid tribute to these three lives lost. Take a listen. Just to think that that
00:47 moment of family joy you know something that so many Australians do you know a
00:51 trip with two families going to the countryside ends in tragedy at this
00:57 this time where we're supposed to be celebrating and coming together. It's
01:01 just unbearable. Lexi, how is the Daylesford community coping?
01:09 Well Corrina, we did see last night a vigil held right in the centre of the
01:14 town. About 200 people attended including local politicians and people not even
01:21 from the town. It is only just under 3,000 in population. We saw people come
01:26 from far and wide to share their support for this community which is still very
01:31 much coming to terms with the magnitude of this incident that unfolded on Sunday
01:36 afternoon. Behind me you can see a mound of floral tributes that continues to
01:42 grow. I think it's important to note as well that we've seen today police
01:46 patrolling the area and they're there to really provide assurance to anyone who
01:51 may need it at the time. There's also a stand-up counselling centre that's been
01:56 set up at Daylesford Community Health that anyone in need can access and given
02:01 that this community has never seen something like this before, leaders
02:06 whether it be council, police, emergency services have said it's not just today
02:11 or tomorrow that you know that support is going to be available to those
02:15 affected by this tragedy but it will be in the weeks and months to come I can
02:20 imagine that that support will continue to flow. And Lexi what's next in the
02:25 police investigation? Well we do know, Carina, among the six people still in
02:31 hospital is that 66 year old driver of the SUV involved in this crash. He's at
02:38 Ballarat Base Hospital, he's in a stable condition and police have said that
02:43 they're expecting to interview him this afternoon. As for the investigation
02:48 itself we know that police conducted a reconstruction of the crash last night
02:52 that's complete and they've also gathered quite a significant amount of
02:56 evidence which includes CCTV. Of course the call-out is still there for anyone
03:01 who witnessed this incident or may know more information contact authorities with
03:06 anything they may know.
