A New South Wales man charged with the domestic violence murder of his wife has been refused bail. Giselle Wakatama is following the case and reports from the Newcastle local court.

00:00Stephen Golchick stands accused of the domestic violence murder of his wife Natalie on Friday

00:09Police charge sheets tended in court say that between 6pm and 6.15pm there was a concern
00:16for welfare.
00:17That prompted a call to police and they arrived shortly after.
00:20Now at that point police have said that they took Stephen Golchick into custody and he
00:26was later charged at Cessnock Police Station.
00:29The scene at the Pekolben property the couple shared has been described as confronting and
00:34that paramedics who had attended could not revive Natalie Golchick.
00:38So today was the appearance in court, Stephen Golchick decided to stay in the cells below
00:43the courthouse as his matter was heard.
00:46Now he didn't apply for bail and it was formally refused and the case was adjourned for a further
00:53eight weeks and that's to allow for a brief of evidence to be compiled.
