Rethinking the GaryVee Content Model With Team Gary Vee - DailyVee 664
Today's DailyVee documents the Team GaryVee annual offsite meeting. We chat about all things content, discussing our strategy for 2024 and highlighting interesting insights and numbers from 2023. I also share my thoughts on what the next big app after TikTok could be. I’m always debating and contemplating new ideas and where things may go .. they are less predictions and more random thoughts. Hope you enjoy!

00:02 But how do you make so much?
00:08 - I have 29 full-time employees on my content.
00:13 Team Gary Vee is the team that actually builds
00:18 all the content for Gary's brand.
00:20 We are a team of about 35 individuals
00:25 living all over the globe.
00:26 A lot of people would call me Sid the intern still.
00:28 I started as an intern on this team.
00:29 I am executive vice president here at Vayner.
00:32 Now I lead the brand.
00:34 Our goal is to showcase Gary's life
00:37 in the way where people can see the behind the scenes
00:39 and also get value from all the conversations
00:42 he's having on a day to day.
00:43 We take 15 minutes to an hour of his day
00:46 and make that into his full content strategy.
00:50 There's been a lot more things that Gary has started doing
00:53 and the time that we had with him
00:55 has kept constantly decreasing.
00:57 So the goal from our side is always to show him
01:00 what we're up to, get his feedback, get some insights.
01:04 At the end of the day, the main goal is to make Gary
01:06 the most famous entrepreneur of this generation.
01:09 - Let me just kick this off.
01:10 First of all, it's really great to be with everybody.
01:12 First and foremost, this is probably the most
01:14 challenging year for my brand and my content.
01:19 Probably since 2013.
01:21 I am fully operating VeeFriends and VaynerMedia
01:24 in a real fucking way.
01:25 But there are a lot of things looming.
01:27 VeeFriends, obviously, the live streaming.
01:31 That has been very substantially important for the brand.
01:34 You know, I always say with my content through the years,
01:37 don't listen to what I'm saying, watch what I'm doing.
01:39 You know, I'm excited to go into this year.
01:41 I'm excited to listen today.
01:42 I'm excited to brainstorm with all of you.
01:43 And I'm excited to figure out what will work for us.
01:46 - One word to describe the offset?
01:48 - Thought provoking.
01:49 - Lots of content coming.
01:50 (upbeat music)
01:54 - Some of the people who are really OG here know
01:56 that I'm still frustrated that we don't use Search Gary
02:00 the way like I dream it.
02:01 I know in those thousand episodes of Wine Library TV,
02:04 I have crazy comments of the building of Twitter.
02:08 There's a website that has blown up over the last six months
02:11 on the internet called Twitter.
02:12 I believe that the content that sits on the internet
02:16 from 2006 to 2016 is some of the most interesting stuff
02:20 for us to debate.
02:21 The biggest impact we can have is not dwell
02:24 consciously or subconsciously that there's not new video.
02:27 I definitely also have 18 seconds to add one sentence
02:30 to something I said 11 years ago that is historically
02:33 correct or an interesting insight to where we are now.
02:36 (upbeat music)
02:38 I think the actual future of social media,
02:42 the way we all see it right now,
02:43 if there's the next TikTok before we go to a new form factor
02:47 off phone, I believe the way that platform can be TikTok
02:50 is being even more extreme than TikTok.
02:52 Literally someone like me getting 91 views a video
02:55 or the next one getting 91 million.
02:57 Why did TikTok win?
02:59 The upside, not the downside.
03:00 If everyone here knew tomorrow they could post
03:03 and it could get 139 million views,
03:05 you would be more incentivized to do it.
03:06 That's what TikTok did.
03:08 It brought everyone in 'cause everyone had a shot
03:11 at a time where Instagram was at maturity
03:13 and everyone's like, well fuck,
03:14 GaryVee already has eight million followers,
03:16 I have 17, I'm out.
03:17 - One word to describe the offset?
03:19 - I probably have to say like mind blowing.
03:21 - Recharged.
03:22 - Exciting.
03:23 - Inspirational.
03:24 - Inspirational.
03:25 (upbeat music)
03:27 - Look, I think what we're going to leave here with
03:32 that's clear, I think is massive.
03:34 I keep going back to the way this meeting started
03:36 'cause I'm excited about it.
03:37 It's just incredibly obvious that everything
03:39 I've ever believed is true.
03:40 Creative is the variable of success.
03:43 And we can hack, but then that makes us
03:45 just like everybody else who doesn't realize
03:46 they can't hack themselves to success.
03:48 Like you have to be good.
03:50 All right, thank you team.
03:51 (applause)
03:54 Really good session with the team,
03:55 really rethinking content, making it frictionless
03:58 given how busy I am.
03:59 And I felt like it was a really productive three hours.
04:01 So, really happy, good to do team vibes.
04:03 And it was intense and focused.
