00:06 >> Trey, this game tonight was very much the tale of two halves.
00:10 Coming out of the locker room, you guys talked a lot about getting out on
00:13 a transition, getting stops.
00:15 How did you guys go about executing it as opposed to just talking about it?
00:19 >> I mean, just up the effort.
00:21 And obviously came out a little slow.
00:24 You could tell we played last night and
00:26 kind of took a second to get the energy and get what we needed to bring to win this game.
00:31 And thankfully we did it.
00:34 Obviously, we wish we could have started out that way.
00:37 That didn't always happen, but the way we finished it and
00:40 the way we played throughout the whole game and kept fighting was really good to see.
00:43 Cuz sometimes in previous years, we would have probably laid down and
00:48 just said it was a back to back or whatever.
00:50 And tonight we didn't do that.
00:52 We kept fighting and kept trusting what we've been doing and
00:55 just up the effort on the defensive end and the notice.
00:58 >> Trey, you kind of alluded to it earlier talking about the back to back.
01:02 Is this one of those games that because it showed the character that you all
01:06 built off of that as far as the energy even though it's early season?
01:09 >> Yeah, I mean, obviously you wanna build off every win.
01:11 I mean, DJ played a hell of a game.
01:14 DJ is the reason why we won tonight.
01:16 That third quarter, the way he finished that quarter.
01:19 Now he's finished quarters, but there's no reason for me to go back in the game.
01:23 DJ's hot and it was good to see we needed him to have the force for
01:27 us to come back and win.
01:28 And I was just so happy we got to win.
01:31 >> Trey, was there something defensively that you saw change in that second half
01:36 that seemed to work for you guys more?
01:37 >> I mean, we were setting more screens.
01:41 I mean, they guarded me like I'm shooting 40, 50% of the three.
01:45 And they took me up four court, three quarters court.
01:51 So we just set the screen a little higher and I was able to get downhill and
01:55 made a couple of floaters, hit one three, was able to find some other guys.
01:59 But really our defense and DJ carrying us in that third quarter and
02:05 all the way through fourth, I think it was a total team effort tonight.
02:09 >> Trey, I recently spoke to NBA great Magic Johnson about you and your game.
02:13 He spoke about you being one of his favorite players, him loving you on the
02:16 court as an entertainer, as a three point shooter, and as a facilitator.
02:20 We've seen so far this season, maybe not what you wanted to shoot from three point
02:23 land, but you can find the ways to continue to facilitate.
02:26 Can you talk to me about that part of your game involving and
02:29 then having that respect from the greats in the league?
02:31 >> Yeah, I mean, for me, I know I can bring a lot more than just scoring to the game.
02:37 I know I can score.
02:39 I've shown I can score in this league, but I've also shown I can get my teammates
02:43 involved and kill the defense that way too.
02:47 So for me, I'm not one dimensional.
02:49 So if my shot isn't falling, I can also get everybody involved.
02:52 And if God's shots ain't falling, I can go score if I need to.
02:56 And that's gonna come, I'm not worried about it.
02:59 Like I said, I've worked too hard and I know what I can do.
03:02 So when I start knocking out shots, it's gonna be way better for our team.
03:07 It's gonna be a lot scarier for our team.
03:08 But I mean, it's always an honor and a blessing getting that love and
03:12 recognition from the greats.
03:14 I remember seeing Magic at a commercial last summer, and him showing me love there.
03:19 And it was just, this is really surreal sometimes.
03:22 But for me, I just wanna continue to prove myself right and
03:27 get our team as far as we can.
03:29 >> One more, please.
03:30 >> Trey, was there any conversation on the bench or
03:33 just in the huddle or anything like that that DeJounte was two points,
03:37 or he was a point away from getting a career high?
03:40 Like, was there any conversation of trying to get him to that point?
03:42 >> Nah, man, nah, DeJ is like me in a lot of ways.
03:46 Now, it ain't about the numbers, it's about wins and losses.
03:50 So that's why I love DeJ.
03:52 So I mean, even though he was, he had what, 41?
03:55 Nobody was ever talking about it.
03:58 I remember his 41, he had 40, I think he did it in Portland last year.
04:01 So and he wasn't worried about it then.
04:04 And so it's really cool to have a teammate like that who just,
04:07 it's all about winning.
04:08 And I'm glad that he got his shot going tonight,
04:10 because we're gonna need him to keep it going and for
04:13 us to be where we wanna be at the end.
