00:00 The ASLA Fund has been able to serve millions of Kenyans from all walks of life, especially
00:06 earn consistently, earn conveniently, earn repeatedly, lending billions of shillings
00:17 in unsecured loans and recovering it without need for drastic, expensive or time-consuming
00:24 procedures.
00:27 We are going to celebrate one year anniversary of the ASLA Fund shortly, maybe next month.
00:36 And we have wonderful stories.
00:41 In fact, I had an occasion last week.
00:43 You can see my hair is newly shaved.
00:46 So my barber came to do some work on what is left of my hair.
00:58 And in the process, he asked me, Mr. President, you know my savings on the ASLA Fund is now
01:07 5,600.
01:12 Why is it the case that my limit is still at 5,000?
01:17 Why don't you consider the fact that I have saved 5,000?
01:22 Why don't you increase my limit?
01:25 And it was a fundamental question.
01:27 I have since put that question to the CS.
01:31 I have put that question to Safaricom.
01:34 I have put that question to all the other stakeholders in that space.
01:38 Because we need to answer that gentleman.
01:41 Because the next time he comes to visit me, I need to have answers for him.
01:45 I was very honest with him.
01:47 I didn't have an answer at that point.
01:50 So I mean, there are many Kenyans out there who truly know what it means to have access
02:02 to affordable credit and how much difference it makes for their businesses.
