00:00 Well, they're not really so much policing as they are more polluting.
00:04 Here's a look at a Super 7, the Toxic Crusaders Radiation Ranger.
00:08 [Sounds of a Super 7]
00:33 The Radiation Ranger sure look intimidating, but fortunately for the Toxic Crusaders and
00:37 the citizens of Traumaville, they're even more incompetent than they are scary looking.
00:41 This 6.7 inch highly articulated Toxic Crusaders Ultimate figure of the Radiation Ranger is
00:46 inspired by the vintage toy based on the early 90's animated series and comes with interchangeable
00:51 heads as well as multiple accessories.
00:53 Getting the made to order Toxic Crusaders Ultimate figure of the Radiation Ranger is
00:57 the best of both worlds.
00:59 You can add a great looking figure to your collection and you don't have to worry about
01:02 it actually ever succeeding in carrying out any evil plots.
01:09 Just before we look at this biochemical bad guy, I'm going to grab the tape measure and
01:12 see how tall it stands.
01:13 The Radiation Ranger as well as the last figure we will be looking at from the first wave
01:17 of Toxic Crusaders figures, courtesy of the folks over at Super 7.
01:21 If you guys are enjoying this line and would like to get these for yourself, you can actually
01:24 get the entire first wave over on Entertainment Earth.
01:27 I'll provide the link down below in the video description if you guys are interested to
01:30 grab this set for yourself.
01:31 As for the Radiation Ranger though, he stands about 6.5 inches in height or the figure is
01:36 going to be about 17 cm tall.
01:39 Wait, did you just say that's the last figure you're going to be looking at from the Toxic
01:42 Crusaders line?
01:43 I did in fact say that.
01:45 Having already looked at both Toxic and just recently in fact we looked at Junkyard, the
01:50 Radiation Ranger is in fact the last figure that we will be looking at from the first
01:54 wave.
01:55 I would imagine that we are going to be getting some more planned waves in the future from
01:57 Super 7 as it's not usually their thing to just do one wave and call it a day.
02:02 Although honestly enough we haven't really gotten anything else from the Ren and Stimpy
02:05 Ultimates line.
02:06 I certainly hope we're going to get some more of those.
02:10 But when it comes to the Radiation Ranger, he's just a little bit shorter than Toxic
02:14 and he's a whole lot taller than Junkyard.
02:17 Now if you were lucky enough to have the original 1991 Playmates Radiation Ranger, then you may
02:21 recognize a lot of the accessories that come along with this figure, other than maybe some
02:25 interchangeable hands, the original figures would have not had interchangeable hands.
02:29 But Super 7 always goes above and beyond to throw in these extra little goodies.
02:33 So the figure first of all has a couple of punching fists.
02:35 I was really trying to describe these as punching fists, they're basically just like closed
02:38 fisted hands.
02:40 The figure as well comes included with some relaxed hands, all molded as you can see,
02:43 sort of more in a lighter grey, matching that of the original toy.
02:47 And then the figure also has a couple of gripping hands.
02:49 Now one is a wider looking hand and I don't really know what it serves a purpose for.
02:53 Some of the accessories, from what I can see at least, don't have or lend themselves to
02:57 the idea of actually using this hand.
02:59 I have actually popped out one of the hands, that one right over there, and I just popped
03:04 it out so he can actually then be displayed with the weapon that he can wield.
03:08 The figure also comes included with his shield.
03:11 Now the shield itself, the nuclear waste drum shield, has been cast again in this pink plastic,
03:16 but unlike Toxic, I'm going to bring back his shield.
03:20 His shield again was kind of based on the original 90's toy as well, but it definitely
03:23 seemed to be the case that the hose, or the piping on the back of it, was a separate piece.
03:28 And yet, the Radiation Ranger, it looks like the shield is all one piece.
03:32 This is not separate, so I don't know why they couldn't have done the exact same thing
03:35 for Toxic's shield.
03:38 Nice little touches of also things that they've added is a little dripping of slime on the
03:41 inside, although they haven't painted it, but they have painted quite a lot of it on
03:44 the outside.
03:45 The radiation symbol, got ourselves some additional silver, some greens, and some hazarding light
03:50 - hazarding stripes, both in orange and yellow.
03:53 This does then clip into his hand.
03:55 One good thing about the hands themselves is that they're pretty soft and plastic,
03:58 so you can just pry the fingers away from the palm, then go ahead and get yourself the
04:02 shield and slide it in his hand.
04:05 Now there doesn't seem to be any other place that I can see, at least, that would attach
04:08 the shield, like say, onto his backpack.
04:11 We'll talk more about his backpack also in a moment.
04:13 The figure as well comes included with the radiation rifle, about the same kind of plastic,
04:17 although the plastic looks like it's probably a different type of material.
04:20 Well, at least a different type of plastic.
04:22 It doesn't have like, sort of, the density of the shield, and it has a little bit more
04:26 of a rubberiness to it.
04:27 This can also fit into his hand.
04:29 Now, I've already taken the liberty of swapping out that, and that just again, take the hand.
04:33 The only thing about this particular hand is that you want to make sure that the thumb
04:36 is sort of pried far enough away, so you can get the thumb, get everything kind of in there,
04:41 because this is kind of a little bit harder to get everything situated.
04:45 He does have again, like, the means to hold it, but this blasted thumb, blasted thumbs,
04:50 sometimes I even have to wonder, like, why would they even have created thumbs in the
04:53 first place?
04:54 Just again, it's a little bit difficult to kind of get everything in there.
04:56 It doesn't also help either, and I've already taken the liberty of adding the shield, but
05:00 again, you can get the blaster in his hand, blasted thumb, blasted thumb, get it out of
05:04 the way.
05:05 There we go, and you can have him holding the blaster, all that.
05:09 You can also have him holding a rifle as well.
05:11 The only thing also about the rifle is not only is it molded really well, but it also
05:14 then attaches onto his backpack.
05:17 The backpack, kind of the same frustrations and struggle as you saw already, attaching
05:22 the gun, I also had similar frustrations trying to attach onto the back of his backpack.
05:27 The backpack, life support backpack to be exact, is again molded in a really nice pink
05:31 plastic.
05:32 Some hosing has been done here in orange, you've got some additional darker gray and
05:35 silver added there as well.
05:37 Now this plugs onto the back of his body.
05:40 If you look at the very top where his shoulders are, you'll see that there's two holes.
05:43 You'll take these also pegs that are provided, and honestly I'll tell you right away, I don't
05:47 feel like the pegs are long enough.
05:49 If I feel they were longer, it'd be a little easier I feel to attach these onto the torso.
05:53 But you're supposed to, for all intents and purposes, take those tabs and wedge them into
05:57 those holes.
05:58 This took a few times, and actually I even went back with a hair dryer just to soften
06:02 the plastic up a little bit, because you really want to make sure that that's all the way
06:06 in there.
06:07 Once that's at least in place, you can then take yourself the rifle, and the rifle just
06:11 drapes onto the side via the hook.
06:13 Last thing you'll also want to do as well, so it doesn't actually look like he's got
06:16 himself antenna, is you'll take the hoses and you'll attach them into the provided holes
06:20 here.
06:21 I would imagine the hole that's closest to the hose is the one that you're supposed to
06:24 plug in place.
06:26 Now instead of actually forcing it in, I find it actually helps just to twist it instead.
06:30 Do that with the one, and then do it with the other, and just twist it back and forth
06:35 till finally you attach the two hoses.
06:37 Now you've got the Radiation Ranger somewhat fully equipped.
06:40 The only last things that we have to attach onto the figure is that he also comes included
06:44 with these two tiny Toxic Glow-in-the-Dark landmines.
06:48 You get two of them.
06:50 I'm having a hard time to hold the actual other one.
06:52 They kind of actually look like little portable plugs that you would get for the wall.
06:56 If you were going to Home Depot, for example, and you need to get some replacement plates,
07:00 you'd probably be buying something similar to this.
07:01 Although these ones actually do glow in the dark, so I'm just going to grab myself my
07:04 trusty black light.
07:05 I'm going to shine the light across it, so you can kind of see it glows in a very nice
07:09 greenish color.
07:11 Now these plug on, but you've got to be very careful with them.
07:14 If you look on the back of the backpack, you'll see there's pegs.
07:17 Plug on one on the other side, and again, while you're doing this, I'm sure the backpack
07:21 is going to pop off a couple of times.
07:23 Believe you me, you won't be the only one that has had that happen.
07:26 It's already happened to me several times.
07:27 You're going to plug then the other landmine on the other side.
07:31 For me, honestly, for the rest of this review, get a good look at how they attach onto the
07:35 backpack, because they're not staying there.
07:37 Oh no, they're not.
07:38 I'm going to be moving them, just because I know any bit of moving of the figures, these
07:41 are going to get fallen onto the floor, and I'm going to have the hardest of times trying
07:44 to find them.
07:45 So we're just going to go ahead and remove it on the one, and then we'll do the exact
07:49 same thing on the other side.
07:50 Let's go ahead while we're also at it, and take the shield and remove it from his hand.
07:56 Now again, like with the shield, I just draw more attention to the idea, like why would
08:00 they have molded this all as one piece, as you can see right there, and they wouldn't
08:04 have done the exact same with Toxie's shield.
08:06 It just makes no sense to me.
08:07 What does make sense to me though, is that it's a pretty cool looking figure.
08:10 If memory serves me correctly, I think there was more than one Radiation Ranger that Playmates
08:14 initially ran with.
08:16 It was this one that had all the accessories that we looked at with the backpack and the
08:19 rifle, but I believe there was also another one that squirted water.
08:22 Very similar in build, very similar in suit as well.
08:25 The colors on this suit are very quite bright, you have the bright colors of the yellow,
08:29 the blue and the green.
08:30 The head sculpt is fantastic on this.
08:32 Although with using translucent orange plastic, looking inside, you can't see any eyes looking
08:37 back at you, but I really like the use of that translucent orange plastic.
08:41 The coloring and paint is all handled again well on these.
08:44 Haven't really had any real problems when it comes to the paint on these pieces.
08:47 For like smaller things like this, Super 7 is doing really a great job when it comes
08:51 to the painting on these figures.
08:53 Sometimes the coloring on the plastic doesn't always gel like what we looked at earlier
08:56 with Toxie, but I had no problems whatsoever when it comes to the Radiation Ranger.
09:01 Part of me is obviously interested in the idea of probably picking up more than one
09:04 of these and have maybe one on either side.
09:06 We've yet to get ourselves a Dr. Killamoff, I'm sure we are probably going to be getting
09:09 him in like a second or third subsequent wave.
09:11 But all in all though, I really like the look though of the Radiation Ranger.
09:14 He's got some really bright colors again, like the paint looks really good on this and
09:17 he's got a lot of cool accessories.
09:19 Some of them don't always attach the easiest, like the backpack.
09:22 The backpack and then trying to get that blasted rifle into his hand was also something that
09:26 was really difficult as well, but I'm really though happy with how this one did turn out.
09:30 Definitely thinking about getting a second one.
09:32 Now for the articulation on this guy, it stands to reason he's going to be limited with the
09:36 head sculpt just because again, like the way that the hose is attached.
09:39 Now the original toy from Playmates, I think had the hose attached where you could, it
09:43 would be a separate piece.
09:44 You would attach it onto the side of his mask and then you would have to then attach onto
09:48 the back of his backpack.
09:49 With this guy, this was already coming out of the packaging with these already attached
09:52 and I can't tell whether there is something that's supposed to be removed or if they're
09:56 glued in place.
09:57 By the fact that there's restrictions or I should say some limitations removing these,
10:01 I'm going to leave them be.
10:03 I don't want to break them in the process.
10:05 But being the fact that they are attached on the back of his backpack are going to make
10:08 things a little bit more difficult when it comes to rotating his head.
10:10 You can still rotate the head side to side, but there's the risk, especially with this
10:14 one here, that if you pull it too tight on the one side, likely you'll probably be popping
10:19 this out from the back of the backpack.
10:21 But the head though, for all intents and purposes, do move forward and back.
10:24 There's also this hose too, which luckily does plug in place.
10:27 If not for that, you would definitely break that off.
10:30 Turning it too far and forgetting the fact that this even plugs in, you'll be popping
10:34 this off probably more times than you can count.
10:37 But the head does move up and down and it does rock back and forth as well.
10:41 As for the arms, the arms hinge out at 90 degrees.
10:43 You can take those arms and rotate them, yes, all the way around.
10:46 And with that, the figures also do have a swivel in the bicep.
10:49 Just sadly though, a single hinge in the elbow.
10:52 But the form at least does, if I can hold a bicep here, the form does swivel back and
10:56 forth.
10:57 He has a hand swivel as well, rotating all the way around.
10:59 You can hinge that back and forth.
11:00 And his upper torso does actually have a crunch.
11:03 It's weird, well, there goes the backpack again.
11:06 It is weird though about the crunch because when you're looking at it, you don't even
11:08 realize that it's there.
11:10 They hit it so well with the sculpting, but he does actually have a crunch.
11:13 It crunches forward and back.
11:15 And of course he has the waist swivel there as well.
11:17 Legs do split out.
11:18 Legs are actually on my radiation range are already quite tight.
11:21 And I'd rather them tight than loose.
11:23 You bring the legs forward, you can bring the legs back.
11:25 There's a swivel at the top of the thigh.
11:26 A single hinge only in the knee, but at least the lower leg does rotate back and forth.
11:30 He has an ankle pivot that moves up and down this way.
11:33 And an ankle rocker that moves back and forth this way as well.
11:37 As was the case with Botoxi, even though I didn't mention it in the review of Junkyard,
11:40 he does also have peg holes on the undersides of all the feet of these figures.
11:44 The only thing I don't really like about the figure is the way that the backpack attaches.
11:47 I still feel like if the peg was longer and the hole was deeper, it would be a lot more
11:52 of a secure fit because every time I'm moving the figure around, the backpack always wants
11:57 to pop off.
11:58 I wonder if they could have been just a way to put a hole on the back of the figure's
12:01 body.
12:02 I don't know.
12:03 It would have been done sightly, but if you are putting the backpack there anyways, you'd
12:05 never even know the hole was there in the first place.
12:07 I do like the look of the Radiation Ranger.
12:11 And of course we are going to be getting ourselves, I'm just going to move this guy in the center.
12:13 I'm sure we are going to be getting some more Toxic Crusader figures because you'd like
12:17 to think we are going to get some more bad guys.
12:19 Right now as it stands with the first wave only, I mean, poor Radiation Ranger is quite
12:24 outnumbered two to one.
12:26 Having already looked at again Toxic's the first figure, then we followed things up with
12:29 Junkyard.
12:30 And then we followed things up with Radiation Ranger.
12:32 Some really fun toys from the folks over at Super 7.
12:34 While, yes, possessing limited articulation points in the elbows, the Radiation Ranger
12:39 at least has the means to wield the rifle in both his hands.
12:42 I actually had an easier time to bend the elbows than I did to have that one hand holding
12:46 the handle.
12:47 Oh, what a pestering thing that was.
12:49 The other thing that's pestering about this figure is the way that some of the things
12:53 attach.
12:54 For the backpack, as an example, the backpack doesn't have, I feel, long enough pegs on
12:57 the top that attach into the shoulder holes, so a lot of times as you're moving things
13:01 around on the Ranger, you'll notice that the backpack does pop off.
13:06 Something also is the fact that he does have the tubes.
13:08 Now the tubes on the back of the figure's mouth or his mask, for example, as you're
13:12 rotating the head, if you're not careful and you don't realize what you're doing, you could
13:17 turn the head too far, too far the extreme.
13:21 And you can already see right now the one hose on the one side is too tight.
13:24 And if I moved it any further, again, don't have to really necessarily make those sounds,
13:29 but it would again pop out of the backpack.
13:31 The one that's the one that you most likely will forget is the hose that he has on the
13:35 front of his gas mask, because again, that attaches into the torso.
13:38 It's a good thing really that Super 7 have all of these things attached by pegs, because
13:42 if they have ever glued them, especially the hose that's on the front of his torso, I already
13:46 know I would have ripped that off.
13:48 So I'm glad to see at least it plugs in place.
13:50 I don't have the figure displayed with the shield.
13:52 I guess there really isn't a place to store the shield.
13:54 I kind of thought like if you could just only mount the shield on the back, I guess you
13:58 could rest the top of the drum against that hook and the figure could then be displayed
14:02 with everything that he comes included with, of course, short of the interchangeable hands.
14:05 But what do you guys think of the Radiation Ranger?
14:07 Have you been collecting any of the Toxic Crusader figures?
14:10 If you have, which ones do you have?
14:12 And also let me know if you had the original ones released from Playmates back in the nineties.
14:16 Also if you guys are interested and would like to get the Radiation Ranger, the Junkyard
14:20 or the Toxi, they are available as of right now doing this review over on Entertainment
14:24 Earth.
14:25 I'll put the link down below in the video description.
14:26 So if you guys wanted to click on that link, not only will it take you directly to the
14:30 Radiation Ranger, but that link will also save you 10% on anything that's currently
14:34 in stock over on their site.
14:36 Certainly do want to stick around for more.
14:38 Unfortunately though, we are wrapped now things on the Toxic Crusaders.
14:41 There's no more to come, but there's definitely always new content coming your way.
14:44 So as always, thanks for watching.
14:46 See you guys next time.
