00:00 Here's a guy that knows a little something about feeding a Frankenstein.
00:03 Here's your spooky spot on the Mego Alice Cooper 8-inch action figure.
00:07 [music]
00:32 Mego Corporation has created all of your favorite characters as 8-inch action figures.
00:37 This Alice Cooper figure features real fabric clothing and 14 points of articulation.
00:41 Make sure you add it to your collection.
00:43 While Alice is pondering what meal he's going to make his monster,
00:46 let's grab the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
00:49 On average, these Mego figures tend to be 8-inch tall figures and Alice Cooper is no exception.
00:54 The figure is in fact 8 inches exactly or he's 20 centimeters tall.
00:59 All this talk about Frankenstein.
01:01 Feed My Frankenstein, in fact, actually was a music video that was shown for Wayne's World.
01:04 So party on Wayne.
01:05 Even though this isn't really the costume that Alice does wear in that music video,
01:08 this is actually more the tailed jacket as well as spike hat.
01:13 The thing about it though, unfortunately, is Mego had to make some sacrifices
01:16 when it came to the actual wardrobe that Alice Cooper wears.
01:19 Instead of actually giving him a true top hat that has the spike sticking out,
01:23 they sort of instead sort of gave us the suggestion of that by including a material
01:27 that goes over top of a very rigid plastic top hat.
01:31 Normally though, I believe it also would be even taller of a hat as well,
01:34 but I'm not going to really start to complain about the height of the hat.
01:37 More so the fact that there's no real spikes on it.
01:40 Again, what it is only really instead is just a material
01:42 and would even then say the material is a firmly attached onto the hat.
01:46 I feel if I was the company that was making this, not that I am,
01:49 I would probably have run a strip of glue around the entire area of the hat
01:52 and then really adhered the fabric.
01:54 As you can see, it's only really glued in some certain places.
01:58 Yes, I am a bit bummed by the fact that his sleeves
02:00 and his hat don't actually have the spikes like they really should,
02:03 but I guess it's the closest thing we could probably get as a Mego release.
02:06 The hat, one thing I will also say about it is it does fit on his head,
02:10 but it only fits the best if you really push it down.
02:13 At least pushing it down, it survives the blizzard test
02:15 and the hat's not going to go anywhere.
02:17 One sacrifice that has to go then along with that
02:19 is if you're pushing it down too frequently all the time,
02:22 I'm sure sooner or later it's going to start to chip the paint
02:24 that's on the front of his face.
02:26 Certainly would not let that happen.
02:28 All in all, it's an okay hat.
02:29 I just wish they had done it just a little bit better.
02:31 Head sculpt though, I have no real complaints with at all.
02:33 It does certainly bear a very strong likeness to Alice Cooper,
02:36 whether you are a fan of Alice Cooper or not.
02:38 The only time I really, really got the chance to see Alice Cooper,
02:40 he was in fact opening for Motley Crue.
02:43 In fact, I actually thought that Alice Cooper was a better performer
02:46 that night than actually Motley Crue themselves.
02:49 I did actually like Tommy's standalone drum solo,
02:52 but the rest of the act, I think Alice Cooper delivered a much better looking concert,
02:56 better sounding concert as well.
02:58 Head sculpt wise though, I think it definitely does look like Alice Cooper.
03:01 The paint that they put around his face as well as the little lingering lines
03:04 that he has down the front of his face as well and his mouth.
03:07 Look again, all like things like Alice Cooper would have.
03:10 I have really again, no fault at all with the face.
03:12 My biggest thing about it is I just wish they hadn't chose this particular costume.
03:17 When I think of Alice Cooper,
03:18 I tend to usually think of more the leather jacket and matching leather pants.
03:23 What they've done instead though, is they've given us once again this leather jacket
03:26 that's supposed to for all intents and purposes,
03:28 have the little spikes on his sleeves.
03:30 But again, like the hat, isn't really so much spikes.
03:32 It's just again this sparkling glitter material that they've used in place instead.
03:37 It doesn't really for me look as much like spikes,
03:39 but I guess with this being a material, it would be probably quite hard
03:43 to attach tiny little plastic points on the sleeves themselves.
03:47 But it's an okay jacket. It's just not really one of my favorite looks for Alice.
03:51 Now, of course underneath this, he does have himself the white shirt
03:53 that has some blood splattered all across the one side of it.
03:56 Normally in his acts, he would always have like blood on him for one reason or another,
04:00 or he'd have his head completely cut off.
04:02 And down below that, he also has himself the leather pants.
04:04 Now for the obvious reasons of knowing that these would be a lot more expensive,
04:08 if they were using real leather,
04:10 the faux leather gets the job done of at least looking and feeling like leather.
04:14 And of course, he also has himself the riding boots as well.
04:17 Normally though, feet on, well the shoe areas on Mego figures
04:20 tend to be ones that are easily ones to fall off.
04:23 Because these boots actually set as high as they do,
04:26 the boots in this case are a lot harder to take off, which is actually a good thing.
04:29 Unfortunately though, on the bombs of the boots is always the case.
04:32 Because they're using a softer plastic,
04:34 it means that sometimes Alice has a harder time to stand.
04:37 Just because again, his boots aren't completely like hard plastic.
04:41 I kind of wish they could do something a little bit different when it comes to that.
04:43 But you know, again, like for what it is,
04:45 the spin the surround on the back, again,
04:46 he's got the tail on the back of his jacket as well.
04:48 I will say like the tailoring to the jacket looks quite good.
04:52 The inside seams do, like there's no loose threads or anything like that.
04:56 Mego does do a pretty good job when it actually comes to the costumes of their 8-inch figures.
05:00 Now, of course, when it comes to the articulation for Alice Cooper,
05:02 his head sculpts only going to be on just a swivel hinge alone.
05:06 There seems to be almost a ball joint,
05:08 but I think the way that they're actually pegged in place,
05:10 they're only using just a peg and not an actual ball joint.
05:14 I don't know why that's the symbol for a ball joint.
05:16 Arms though, easily come out 90 degrees.
05:18 You can take those arms as well and move them forward and move them back.
05:21 He doesn't have a swivel here in his bicep,
05:23 but what he does have at least is a swivel in his forearm,
05:26 and you can also bend the elbow there as well.
05:28 The hands themselves, if I roll up the sleeve,
05:30 you can see are differently molded in plastic.
05:32 So instead of actually painting this,
05:33 they probably would have just molded this in the black plastic.
05:36 There is a hinge as well on the actual hand,
05:38 so you can also move those back and forth too.
05:40 Legs do split out.
05:42 You can bring them forward and you can bring them back.
05:44 And the material is at least soft enough that I don't have any real issues
05:47 where the pants are kind of holding the legs back.
05:50 I will though worry when it comes to splitting his legs,
05:52 not that you're likely going to be displaying Alice Cooper in a splits pose,
05:55 but just the way they have actually seamed the inside of the pants.
05:58 I would worry that that would start to rip the seam eventually.
06:00 He doesn't have any swivel at the top of his thigh,
06:03 but the figure still manages to have again a single hinge only on his knee.
06:06 And I think there's also articulation underneath the boot,
06:08 but it's next to impossible to get any access to that.
06:11 Like the head sculpt,
06:13 the body again is what you would expect by now
06:15 when it comes to collecting Mego figures.
06:17 I just don't really love the costume.
06:19 Now again, he has in his acts,
06:21 obviously always has tail jackets that he wears in his outfits,
06:24 in his outfits.
06:25 And of course he always wears top hats.
06:27 But for me at least,
06:28 I think if they were going to go with say one Alice Cooper
06:30 and never release another one again,
06:32 I would have just gone with more of the traditional black leather jacket and black pants
06:36 and maybe a somewhat recognizable printed shirt.
06:39 Obviously you wouldn't be able to use a real printed shirt of an actual copyrighted image,
06:43 but something close enough resembling that.
06:45 So at least it looked like Alice Cooper.
06:47 For what they did at least for getting the spiked jacket look
06:50 and the equally spiked top hat,
06:52 I wouldn't necessarily say it was successful,
06:54 but I guess based on the fact it's material,
06:56 it's the closest thing that they had to work with.
06:59 In the end, I'm actually happier that we at least got ourselves a Mego Alice Cooper
07:03 than I am disappointed with the costume choice.
07:05 Yes, I would have preferred if they had gone something different
07:07 when it comes to just their one released Alice Cooper.
07:10 This would have been fine if they had done already an Alice Cooper
07:12 just with a regular black leather jacket and just a regular black pants
07:15 and then they release this one and say a follow-up.
07:17 But if this is the only one that they're ever planning to release,
07:19 I kind of wish that they could have done a little bit better when it comes to the costume.
07:22 That sleeves is always going to be the hardest thing to do
07:25 because they'd be impossible to glue on tiny little spikes on that sleeves.
07:29 Not to mention anytime that you're moving then those sleeves,
07:32 there's always the chance that those spikes could then fall off.
07:34 But there's nothing really to say that they couldn't have done that for the hat.
07:37 I mean literally, they could have just molded the hat with the spikes
07:40 and then just painted all those points in silver.
07:42 Why didn't they do that?
07:43 I guess they wanted to make things consistent with the sleeves.
07:45 So everything kind of looked the same.
07:47 But unfortunately though, everything sort of under delivers
07:50 with how cool the costume normally would have looked in real life.
07:53 Now I did find this one over on Entertainment Earth.
