Nyanza Regional Commissioner Zipora Mworoa gives updates and safety assurance to candidates in the region as they prepare for next week's KCPE and KCSE exams.
Transcript
00:00 that we are fully prepared for the examination,
00:02 which kicks off on the 30th of October
00:06 with the KCPE and KCPSEA.
00:08 We have organized for adequate security
00:14 for all our examination centers.
00:18 Just to let you know,
00:19 we will have 4,933 examination centers,
00:24 that is for KCPE and for KCPSEA.
00:29 All those centers will have two security officers each.
00:34 And for the KCSE, we have 1761 centers as well.
00:40 We have also deployed two security officers
00:47 by the mission center.
00:49 We want to call upon all our investigators,
00:57 supervisors, center managers, parents,
01:01 and even the members of the public,
01:03 and also the media to cooperate
01:07 with the managers of this examination,
01:13 who include the Ministry of Interior,
01:16 the Ministry of Education, and the ICT Ministry,
01:21 so that we can have a very, very transparent
01:26 and smooth examination period.
01:29 I also want to warn against any attempts
01:36 to have malpractices in our examination centers.
01:44 We are all alert.
01:46 As I have said earlier,
01:48 we have police officers manning all our examination centers.
01:53 Therefore, if we will be having anyone
01:56 or any group of people who intend to cheat
02:00 in the coming examination,
02:02 I want them to be warned in advance
02:05 that that will not be tolerated,
02:07 and that action will be taken against anyone
02:10 who attempts to cheat in this examination.
02:14 Aware of the predicted illiterate,
02:18 we have mapped out all the areas,
02:23 and particularly the schools that are prone to flooding,
02:27 and we have put measures in place
02:30 to ensure that no candidate missed their examination
02:35 because of the rains.
02:36 You must be aware that the Ministry of Education,
02:40 working together with the Ministry of Interior,
02:43 have promised that there will be choppers,
02:47 and all other measures put in place
02:49 to ensure if by any chance there are rains
02:54 and examinations cannot be taken to certain areas,
02:59 then we have choppers to permit the examinations
03:02 to those areas.
03:04 - Which areas did you have in mind?
03:08 - Nyando, particularly that is the area
03:11 that has been mapped out as having that particular problem.
03:17 And some parts of Mugori and Omabu.
