00:00 The staff were unable to handle this dog.
00:03 Oh, hey, it's alright.
00:05 Many people would just see this dog barking and trying to bite me
00:09 whenever I put my hand up to that kennel.
00:11 But what I saw instead were these cries for help.
00:15 These behavioral responses aren't who they really are inside.
00:23 It's really important to find this true soul of every dog.
00:27 I'm known as the chicken nugget trainer.
00:32 I begin by sitting with the dog and I just feed food.
00:35 That really is the association that I want these dogs to have with me.
00:39 Slowly I could see her start to approach me a little bit more.
00:46 Or we can see her kind of inch forward and move back.
00:56 That is our clue that this is fear that we're working with.
01:00 It's not this standard aggression.
01:02 By day three, she was coming out a little bit more.
01:13 There were toys in her kennel that she started bringing to me.
01:21 I could see this dog wanting to bond with me.
01:26 I could see this dog wanting to bond with me.
01:29 Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Good girl!
01:35 Oh! Oh hi! Hey! What are you doing?
01:39 Good girl! Yeah, that's my man! What are you doing? You want to go outside?
01:43 Establishing that bond with me.
01:47 I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do this.
01:51 I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do this.
01:55 Establishing that bond with me just took off with everyone else.
02:01 I love her!
02:05 The second person she bonded with was my fiancé.
02:09 You're not punishing them. Good job. People means treat.
02:13 He had to flirt with her too.
02:15 What do you want?
02:17 With each new person we started introducing, it was much faster each and every time.
02:23 I love that. She is so affectionate.
02:27 After a couple of weeks, we were able to take her out on walks.
02:31 We took her hiking.
02:35 We took her camping.
02:37 We started to see this beautiful dog blossom.
02:41 And we drove 800 miles to meet with her adopters.
02:45 Immediately we knew this was the place for her.
02:51 She's got all the toys.
02:55 The love and affection that she needs to just continue shining.
02:59 What keeps me going is stories like her.
03:05 Because she is again this example that we're able to be successful and triumphant.
