00:00 This morning, we are joined by the members of the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation
00:05 to discuss some of their projects and their organization's 36th anniversary.
00:13 Let us welcome live here in our studio, Sir Oscar de la Cruz III and Ma'am Jam Ramos.
00:19 Good morning and welcome to Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:21 Good morning!
00:23 Okay, what is the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation?
00:29 It's a long name.
00:32 What is the purpose of this name?
00:33 Okay, so we are actually called Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation.
00:39 Since it's a long name, we can use the short cut FPPF.
00:44 So we're actually a non-profit, non-government organization.
00:49 Since 1991, we've been organizing workshops.
00:54 So, and then, since you remember the Pinatubo eruption.
01:00 So, we started during that time conducting the workshops.
01:05 And then, it's been a long time.
01:07 Our goal is to promote photography here in the Philippines.
01:12 So we actually are already in our 36th year, 36th anniversary this coming weekend on Saturday.
01:21 So that's what's really important to us.
01:23 And then, we are an umbrella of organizations for photography and camera clubs all over
01:29 the Philippines.
01:30 Wow!
01:31 And we even conduct what we call Photography Convention and Trade Fair, which is called
01:38 Photo World Asia.
01:39 Usually, we see this in Glorieta, the photography sale or camera sale, and also workshops and
01:48 activities there.
01:51 And then, it's considered to be a convention for Southeast Asia.
01:57 So not just in the Philippines, but all over the world.
02:00 So this organization is big.
02:02 It's big.
02:03 Because of our digital age, there are social media that are helping a lot because they
02:09 promote the beautiful places in our country and improve our tourism.
02:13 But you have upcoming skills training for photography.
02:17 What are the actual skill training that you will do here?
02:21 Okay.
02:22 Maybe I'm the best answer to that.
02:24 Because I'm also one of the FPPF instructors or mentors.
02:29 So basically, we have short courses conducted online and face-to-face.
02:35 So we have, sorry about that.
02:37 So we have online workshops called the Basic Photography.
02:43 And we also have Cruise Ship Photography.
02:44 Oh, wow!
02:45 So for those who want to get accredited or affiliated with cruise ship photographers.
02:52 And then, we also have Comprehensive Digital Photography Workshops.
02:57 So that is, thank you, thank you.
03:01 I got confused.
03:03 Right.
03:04 So there's Comprehensive Digital Photography Workshop.
03:08 So that is about basic to advanced.
03:12 And then, we have Light Shoot Edit.
03:15 And then, we have Studio Photography.
03:18 So that is our face-to-face workshops.
03:20 And then, we also have corporate workshops.
03:22 If you want to conduct, for example, here or in your companies, in your schools.
03:27 We are also, we can also schedule and then book for that day.
03:33 I personally am very interested.
03:35 Maybe even my children, I will enroll them because that's a good skill that kids can
03:41 learn to take actual nice photos.
03:43 Mr. Oscar, who can be the target of your trainees?
03:50 Oh, ma'am, anyone from all ages.
03:52 As you have said, from your kids.
03:55 My child, yes.
03:56 Actually, we have enrollees who are still young.
04:00 Normally, around high school students.
04:03 But as high school students, up to the age of 50s, 60s.
04:08 Actually, it doesn't matter.
04:10 Oh, so Audrey can still be in the 50s.
04:13 Obviously, even if they don't have professional cameras, can they bring gadgets like cellphones?
04:19 Yes, they can.
04:20 Okay, when and where will they have their training?
04:25 And what are the required gadgets that they need to bring?
04:28 For the training, actually, normally we have every weekends, Saturdays and Sundays.
04:35 And also, we have weekdays then.
04:37 For the gadgets, they can bring any type of camera.
04:42 Like this one.
04:43 Yes, like this one, SLR.
04:46 We also have mobile photography.
04:49 So, they can bring cellphones since our age now is more on the mobile phones.
04:56 But, Sir Oscar, what if they don't have a camera to buy?
05:00 And is there anyone who can rent it from you?
05:03 Or is there anyone who can borrow?
05:05 Actually, sometimes, there are sponsors or those who provide cameras to us.
05:12 Like for example, this upcoming anniversary on Saturday, we have cameras there or different camera brands.
05:21 But, is this just for borrowing?
05:23 There are some for borrowing.
05:25 For example, Touch and Try.
05:27 So, they can try during our event, during the event itself.
05:32 And there are also workshops on that day.
05:35 Or of course, if you see that you want to buy this, you can buy it.
05:40 I thought you were going to give something.
05:42 She loves to give.
05:43 Anyway, in school, there are different courses like journalism, mass communication and broadcasting.
05:50 We already have a subject in college, which is photography 101.
05:53 Correct.
05:54 So, is this also what you will teach there?
05:56 The basics, the angling, the lighting effects, are these what you will learn here?
06:02 More than that, because I also graduated from UP Fine Arts and we also have formal training in photography there.
06:09 But then, here at FPPF, the mentors and those we invite to judge, for example, for photo contest during classes,
06:17 are really professionals.
06:19 So, what they will share is not only the technicals like composition or using aperture, shutter speed, ISO, those are technical terms.
06:29 But then here, they will show or teach the experience of each instructor.
06:34 For example, I am also a professional photographer actually.
06:37 So, I will teach there, for example, car photography or portrait photography.
06:42 Even Sir Okay will shoot, for example, events.
06:46 So, it's really more than that.
06:48 More than the technicals.
06:50 Okay, and also the experiences.
06:52 Experiences on how to get behind the scenes.
06:55 Yes, and of course, the business side.
06:58 For example, freelancers or those who do events, we do projects for studio photography.
07:04 So, it's for earning money.
07:05 Yes, that's also possible.
07:06 But that's good.
07:07 But I'm very curious, so when it comes to events photography, it's different from what kind of photography?
07:14 Events, what else?
07:15 Photojournalism.
07:16 Photojournalism, so it's a different skill.
07:19 Definitely, because it's their own specialization.
07:22 Okay, as a last, can you invite again our viewers to share your anniversary?
07:29 Yes, we invite all our viewers.
07:34 On Saturday, October 28, we have an anniversary in Fort Santiago.
07:44 This will be on Saturday, October 28 from 7am to 6pm.
07:51 So, we have a lot of activities on that day.
07:54 We have photo shoots, we have games, and of course, we have raffle.
07:58 And aside from that, our sponsors will have discounted rates on their items.
08:06 How much is that?
08:07 Okay, our fee is 600, a very minimal fee.
08:10 But you still have t-shirt, lunch, snack, photo shoot, workshop, and of course, our raffle.
08:20 I'm very interested to join that.
08:22 Can we give you our t-shirts?
08:24 Of course, thank you.
08:27 We'll show it here.
08:28 Small size, medium size.
08:30 You have free t-shirts like us.
08:33 We should have worn it already.
08:35 Thank you so much for joining us this morning.
08:38 We hope that the event will be successful.
08:40 We hope that a lot of people will be interested in photography.
08:43 We were joined this morning by Sir Oscar De La Cruz III and Ma'am Jam Ramos.
08:48 Thank you so much.
08:49 Can I request to take a picture with Ms. Nyet?
08:53 Let's go Ms. Nyet.
08:55 We have a photographer here.
08:58 Ms. Nyet from iFocus Camera Club.
09:01 We are all over the Philippines.
09:04 Please take a picture.
09:06 I'll give you a photo.
09:08 To show it.
09:09 Our official photographer.
09:11 Guys, join us in our photo session here.
09:13 Our photo world is here.
09:15 There.
09:17 Thank you.
09:18 So let's reload and reconnect on Saturday.
09:21 Alright.
09:22 Thank you so much.
