00:03 >> You nailed it, Ryan.
00:04 And it's what Marcus Freeman says the mantra of the team is all about, right?
00:08 It's like, hey, guys, this isn't about the other team.
00:11 This isn't about, it's the process, it's about playing to a certain standard.
00:15 It's about Notre Dame football.
00:16 So it's not just about going out and beating Pitt and beating Clemson and
00:19 beating Wake and beating Stanford.
00:21 That's obviously the ultimate result of the process and
00:24 the desired result of the process.
00:26 And if the process is handled correctly, Notre Dame will go four-no.
00:30 But Notre Dame could go four-no down the stretch, Ryan, and kind of like 2021.
00:35 Where Notre Dame kept winning, but you're like,
00:37 this is a very flawed football team.
00:39 They're just beating inferior opponents, and that's kinda how it was.
00:42 I mean, 2021's a great example.
00:45 They skated by Florida State in a game they almost blew.
00:48 They had to come from behind to beat Toledo.
00:50 They had to come from behind.
00:51 Jack Cone has to come off the bench and rally him against Virginia Tech.
00:55 And anytime they played a good opponent, it was like, this is a tough ball game.
00:59 You're losing early in the fourth quarter against an okay Wisconsin team.
01:03 The final score ends up being a lot more decisive than the actual game was
01:07 played out.
01:09 And then you get to the end of the season and you're playing Stanford, who's awful.
01:12 You're playing Georgia Tech, who's awful.
01:14 You're playing Navy, who's awful.
01:15 You're playing North Carolina, who's just eh, kinda meh.
01:18 You play a not very good USC team,
01:21 whose coach is in the midst of about to getting fired.
01:24 They're going through a four and eight season.
01:26 And it was fool's gold to a degree about how good that team actually was.
01:31 And then of course, you had the Cincinnati game where you got your butts kicked
01:35 as a team.
01:35 And so yeah, you look at the 11 and 1 and you're like, yeah, but
01:38 that wasn't a great football team.
01:41 So it's about, okay, can you play to your potential as a football team,
01:44 not just out-talent your next four opponents, which including Clemson,
01:47 you should.
01:48 And the matchups favor you in a lot of ways.
01:52 Clemson doesn't have the ingredients that Ohio State had, or more importantly,
01:57 that Louisville had to pull off the upset with the dynamic playmakers.
02:01 They don't have that.
02:02 So it should be a four and O stretch for Notre Dame.
02:06 But four and O stretch doesn't mean that your football team has really
02:09 turned a corner.
02:10 And that's really what it comes down to.
02:11 Have you turned the corner to where, yeah, you're a talented team,
02:14 you do some things well, but can you really take that next step?
02:18 And that's what these questions are about.
