00:00 (upbeat guitar music)
00:03 What's going on y'all?
00:06 This is Chris Stone, Kingfish Ingram,
00:08 and I'm here in London at One Joe Guitars
00:10 and I'm with Guitar.com.
00:11 We're gonna do some guitar shopping today.
00:13 (upbeat guitar music)
00:16 What we have here is a Gibson Lucille,
00:27 what I like to call one of the ultimate blues guitars.
00:31 I picked this guitar out first
00:32 because B.B. King is actually an influence on mine,
00:35 one of my biggest influences.
00:37 I can recall seeing him playing this guitar on TV,
00:40 on different concerts and whatnot.
00:42 It looks great.
00:43 You know, obviously the no F holes,
00:46 you know, the black and gold is a great contrast.
00:48 I actually have a regular 355 myself,
00:51 but I don't think it compares to the actual Lucille.
00:53 You know, the varitone switch, you can get so many tones.
00:56 It's a, even though it has humbuckers,
00:59 you can get an array of tones from it, you know.
01:01 Everything about B.B. from the way he treated people
01:03 to how he played, everything was simple.
01:06 He played simple, but it was, you know, it was effective.
01:10 You know, so, you know, he played for the song,
01:13 beautiful, great tone and great guy as well.
01:16 So yeah, most definitely.
01:17 (upbeat guitar music)
01:20 Maybe pick up a string and just make you wanna play
01:24 Hendrix and Stevie Ray all day.
01:28 (upbeat guitar music)
01:31 So we have here is the '64 Fender Strat.
01:44 I don't know too much about the vintage Strats,
01:46 but I do know I love this color.
01:48 (laughs)
01:49 I chose this guitar because, you know,
01:51 the Strat has always been a special guitar to me.
01:53 Even though I really haven't fully been able
01:56 to like play them on stage,
01:57 but it's been a special guitar being that I listen
01:59 to gospel music so much and R&B music,
02:02 and the Strat is heavily involved
02:03 in both those genres of music.
02:05 So yeah, man, I love this Strat for sure.
02:07 You can get jazz tones, blues, gospel, rock, country,
02:12 everything is definitely a versatile guitar.
02:14 I love matching headstocks.
02:15 Yeah, matter of fact, that's one reason
02:17 why I chose the guitar because it, you know,
02:19 it just gives it a pop, you know, you know,
02:22 and it's different.
02:23 So, and I love the color blue.
02:24 So yeah, this one was like a midnight blue almost.
02:27 It's too light for my taste,
02:28 'cause I like some, I like some Gurt, but,
02:31 Paul's, but yeah, you know, it's a dope guitar.
02:35 Yeah, so yeah.
02:36 (guitar music)
02:38 All right, what we have here is a '72 Les Paul Custom.
02:46 Man, what can I say?
02:48 This is actually my dream Les Paul
02:51 from the black body gold hardware.
02:54 The Les Paul has always been one of my favorite,
02:57 if not my favorite guitar model.
03:00 I've always been comfortable on Les Pauls
03:02 and I just love the sound of them.
03:04 It feels prestigious, you know,
03:05 it's like a trophy almost, you know, like,
03:07 plus, you know, the black inlays, you know,
03:10 just, it feels prestigious, you know,
03:12 you know, kind of like the Lucille almost.
03:13 So yeah, man, this is a definitely a great guitar for sure.
03:17 And yeah, and it still looks amazing, you know, so yeah,
03:20 man, Les Paul Custom.
03:22 (guitar music)
03:25 '79 Fender Strat.
03:34 This is actually my favorite colorway for a Strat,
03:37 the natural and black, but I recently just found out
03:40 that it used to be black or maybe sunburst
03:44 and the owner stripped it down and made it natural,
03:48 which I actually like this colorway so much,
03:50 I think it looks better.
03:51 So yeah, they even stripped down the neck,
03:54 which why, you know, you have so much fret wear
03:56 and everything like that, so, or neck wear rather.
04:00 So yeah, man, this is actually,
04:01 the '70s Strats are actually my favorite of the Strats
04:04 because of the big headstocks.
04:06 And like I said, this is my dream Strat,
04:08 only with a rosewood neck and a hardtail.
04:11 But yeah, man, great guitar right here.
04:13 You can definitely tell whoever had this, you know,
04:15 played the hell out of it and, you know,
04:17 that's a great thing to see on a guitar, you know,
04:19 I'm not into the Revit thing,
04:20 but when it's done like this, it's great.
04:22 (guitar playing)
04:25 So this one is a special one
04:38 because it was kind of like the inspiration
04:40 along with the troublemaker Tele
04:41 for my signature Fender Tele.
04:44 This is a Fender American Pro Tele II.
04:48 Yeah, man, two humbuckers.
04:51 It has the ashtray bridge or whatever.
04:54 Has the LP-like controls with the LP-like toggles,
04:58 which, so I've always been a humbucker guy,
05:01 so even when I started working with Fender,
05:03 I kind of told them that as well.
05:05 And I pretty much based my model around these
05:08 because, you know, it has humbuckers.
05:10 It gives it like a hybrid type of thing, you know,
05:13 especially on the one that I have,
05:15 it has the stop-till piece.
05:17 So yeah, man, it gives it that still sustained,
05:20 but you can still tell it's Fender, you know,
05:22 and the '70s headstock,
05:24 I mentioned earlier about how I like those.
05:25 I love the lightness sometimes of a Fender,
05:28 but I love the heaviness and sound of a Gibson.
05:32 So yeah, it was a perfect hybrid for me, most definitely.
05:36 (guitar playing)
