A mum with ADHD has revealed the problems it gives new parents - including time keeping, chores, planning parties and moods.
Geraldine Kostrewa, 28, has described having ADHD and a toddler - and how she helps her cope.
Geraldine, known as Cherry, says her condition means simple things like household tasks, birthdays and appointments become problematic.
She says her and four-year-old daughter sometimes even have a 'brainstorm' to explain why 'mummy gets frustrated'.
Cherry was first diagnosed with ADHD as a child after teachers became concerned about her lack of attention in class.
Her parents, after stumbling across misinformation about the condition, declined to seek treatment – and so Cherry was in the dark about her diagnosis until she was in university.
At 23, Cherry felt like her ADHD was under control, and decided to disregard it – until she had her first child, daughter Hannah, four years ago.
After becoming a parent and struggling to cope with increased responsibilities and daily household tasks, she stumbled across a video describing how the condition can affect mums.
Relieved that she wasn’t alone, Cherry began to consider how ADHD was affecting her parenting – she struggled with managing her time, dealing with fluctuating moods, and handling overstimulation.
Now, Hannah is four years old – and Cherry, who now shares her experience on her social media under the handle @cherry.adhd, has found coping strategies that have helped her and her family to work alongside her ADHD.
