Cyclone 'Hamoon' has intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm, and currently lies close to Odisha, West Bengal and Bangladesh, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its latest update on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday. The cyclonic storm currently lies about 290 km of Paradip in Odisha, 270 km of Digha in West Bengal, and 230 km south-southwest of Khepupara in Bangladesh.

00:38 Thereafter, it is likely to weaken gradually while moving north-eastwards and cross the
00:42 Bangladesh coast between Kheppupara and Chittagong around Tuesday evening.
00:46 As a cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 65-75 km/hr gusting to 85 km/hr, the weather office

00:54 As many as seven states have been put on rainfall alert and fishermen have also been asked not
00:58 to venture into the Bay of Bengal till October 25.
01:01 The states on alert include Odisha, West Bengal, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Assam and Meghalaya.

01:13 Furthermore, the Met Department has issued fishermen warnings in the Bay of Bengal.

01:26 Meanwhile, another cyclone called Tej that originated over the Arabian Sea turned into
01:30 an extremely severe cyclonic storm on Sunday.
01:33 As per the IMD's latest update, Tej has crossed Yemen coast and weakened into a severe cyclonic
01:38 storm over coastal Yemen.
01:39 "It is very likely to move further northwestwards and weaken into a cyclonic storm during the
01:44 next six hours," the IMD said on X.
