00:00 practice guys were prepared I came in the game a lot of confidence thought we
00:04 would play well after last week you know it's just a bad performance from the
00:10 get-go don't really know what to say like I said I'm shocked surprised
00:15 didn't see it coming
00:18 embarrassing I'm embarrassed I think the players are hope they are they should be
00:25 just like I said didn't see it coming I had no idea if this was going to be
00:32 gonna play out like it did tonight so obviously we got a lot of work to do we
00:36 got an open day we'll try to figure out the best way to get it fixed and play
00:42 better a little miffed how we can play as well as we did last week and as poorly
00:47 as we did this week don't really understand it but obviously we've got to
00:53 try to figure it out
00:55 not at all not at all we were ready to play guys were excited like I said
00:59 confident I came in the game a lot of confidence
01:04 you know I don't know we had a hard time fitting the fit in the run game you
01:12 know I mean obviously that we've got to get fixed and you know it was bad
01:19 performance we never we never slowed down they could have scored as many points as they needed to to beat us.
01:25 But Kansas State you've been like a quarterback to that?
01:28 No no not at all not at all I think we prepared for that you know we just had a hard time early on getting adjusted I think they you know
01:36 changed a couple of things and did a good job scheming us and we had a hard time
01:40 getting stopped and got on our heels and we never could never could recover.
01:45 Same like offense a lot of strokes.
01:48 I think I think I mean I think up front on both lines of scrimmage we got better.
01:52 I wish I could say it different but I think we got dominated up front on our offensive line.
01:58 Our offensive line got dominated.
02:00 Are you satisfied with the effort throughout the game?
02:04 You know I don't know we'll look at the tape and see I mean I think we continue to play hard.
02:08 I really do I don't think the effort was an issue but if it was we'll obviously address it.
02:12 So beat the table 400 and six yards against a Kansas State first half.
02:16 Yeah it's really bad yep that's not good.
02:19 It's bad I mean it's as bad as I've ever seen.
02:21 What are you going to do to pick up the pieces you know to re-fight them?
02:24 I don't know we'll see you know we're going to try to get it fixed and you know if we need to make some
02:28 personnel changes obviously we'll try to do whatever we can do to improve our team and play better.
02:33 Is there anything K-State or the coach that can teach Josh as he's telling you guys?
02:37 No I don't think so I mean they they usually mix drop eight and blitz which you know that's kind of what they do.
02:43 That's we just never really got settled in it seemed like that you know the windows were small.
02:49 We had opportunities to make competitive plays but didn't make them.
02:52 You know they did a good job keeping us off balance.
02:57 We couldn't run the football you know we got one dimensional and you know versus a three down team you got to be able to run the football.
03:05 What's the message to the team from that close to seat?
03:09 Well I'm disappointed you know I was disappointed like you said I think the key to us is to you know try to play well a week from Thursday and try to win a game.
03:17 You know what I mean I think that's like I said you saw you saw us play last week and we played well last week against a good football team and today we didn't.
03:25 So we got to try to figure out why there's no consistency.
03:28 How hard is it for an offensive guy to call an offense when you're going against a team that uses the clock and they're not so much success?
03:36 I mean it's hard to pitch a back against the wall but I mean obviously we've got to perform better than we did.
03:41 You know as I said Kansas State came out and ran for us and you know I think at that point we felt like we were going to have to score touchdowns.
03:48 It changes the way you approach the game a little bit but there's no excuse.
03:52 I mean we've got to be able to score points and move the football consistently and you know stop somebody.
03:57 We didn't do it today.
03:59 How do you think your quarterback played in the knockout fire?
04:01 You know I think he played like a young quarterback.
04:04 You know we'll go back and look at it.
04:06 I think that obviously didn't play well in that first win and it was a rough game I think across the board offensively.
04:13 Where's your overall frustration with the way we have a season come and gone so far?
04:18 Well you know I'm frustrated.
04:21 I mean I think that you know you look around college football I mean it's you know it's hard.
04:27 I mean the Big 12 is good.
04:31 There's a lot of kind of week in week out.
04:33 It's competitive.
04:34 There's some teams that you know every single game it seems like this is a battle and you know we haven't played particularly well.
04:43 I mean there's some games that we would love to have back but you know we're not getting there.
04:47 And we've got to keep moving forward and grow as a program and get better and play better.
04:52 But as I said coming into this game I think we felt like we were well prepared.
04:57 We felt like we practiced well.
04:59 You know I think we were in a good place.
05:02 And then we came out here and had this performance.
05:04 So you know your guess is as good as mine how we can play as good as we did last week and as poorly as we did this week.
05:13 I mean that's not indicative of the difficulty.
05:16 Coach you mentioned personality.
05:18 Is it safe to say that my base is open?
05:20 I don't know.
05:21 It always is.
05:22 I mean we evaluate guys every day.
05:24 No one's job is ever safe.
05:25 You know what I'm saying?
05:26 You have to perform well and you have to practice well to play.
05:31 And so we're rest assured we're playing the best guys that we can and that we think are going to give us the best chance to win.
05:37 And we'll go through and look at today's tape and if we think we can get better by playing somebody else we'll do it.
05:42 Or if somebody didn't play hard today we'll make sure that we handle it.
05:47 But this was obviously a very poor performance.
05:53 Anything else for Coach?
05:54 I guess.
05:55 Thank you all.
