00:00 Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're taking a look at the games where you can spend hours
00:11 in the character creation system.
00:13 Lord knows I have spent way too much time with Mod Nation Racers creating drivers and
00:18 carts, but what game had you building custom characters for a whole afternoon?
00:23 Did it make the list?
00:24 Let us know down in the comments.
00:26 And don't say Mii Maker.
00:28 That's cheating.
00:29 Choose a real game, please.
00:31 Baldur's Gate 3
00:43 Baldur's Gate 3 is truly a special game in how it invites you to roleplay with it.
00:48 Of course, no RPG would be complete without a flexible character creation system.
00:52 With the amount of hairstyles, colors, and facial features to choose from, you can design
00:57 your own fantasy counterpart however you choose.
01:00 On top of that, Baldur's Gate 3 gives you the option to choose from a preset of character
01:05 classes or tinker with some of the stats yourself.
01:08 Obviously, you're still tied to background bonuses and proficiency, but you really can
01:13 play how you want throughout your adventure.
01:16 Starfield
01:23 On the surface, Starfield doesn't seem to be much different compared to Bethesda's
01:26 other character customization systems.
01:29 On the contrary, it offers so much more.
01:31 Yes, you're still kind of at the mercy of presets when choosing stuff like eyes, chins,
01:37 and noses.
01:38 However, Starfield does give you room to adjust your various facial features and even a simplified
01:43 body morphing function.
01:45 We've already seen a number of players running around the universe as Buzz Lightyear, Ellen
01:49 Ripley, and other sci-fi characters.
01:52 Even with that tinge of uncanny valley, Starfield's character creator is a ton of fun to toy with.
01:59 WWE 2K23
02:07 The WWE games have a storied history when it comes to custom characters.
02:11 With the various improvements and features from THQ's games to Yuke's and now Visual
02:16 Concepts, it is hard to imagine a WWE game without the Create-A-Wrestler mode.
02:22 And it only gets better with every release.
02:25 WWE 2K23 is chosen specifically for its influx of clothing to choose from as well as the
02:31 ability to implement custom entrances, banners, graphics, and more.
02:35 You can even download wrestlers other players have created, and they all range from celebrities
02:40 and pop culture icons to retired WWE superstars or wrestlers that simply didn't make the
02:46 cut.
02:52 Saints Row
02:58 Say what you will about Saints Row.
03:00 We know the discourse around its quality.
03:02 We found it to be somewhat enjoyable ourselves, though we'll admit it's probably because
03:06 of the character we made.
03:08 We spent literally hours trying to figure out how to make our character, and the reason
03:12 it took us as long as it did was because of how simplified yet deep the character creation
03:18 was.
03:19 In the end, we ended up making our boss Ellen Degeneres.
03:23 Why?
03:24 Because comedy.
03:29 Dragon Age Inquisition
03:42 We will admit that Inquisition's character customizer probably hasn't aged super well
03:46 in terms of visuals and selections.
03:48 However, it is still pretty solid, enough to throw it onto this list.
03:53 The selection of races, hair, and voices are enough to make your character as close to
03:58 your vision as possible.
03:59 It may not be perfect, but if you're adaptable, you can still make a character worth investing
04:04 in.
04:05 Monster Hunter World
04:12 Even with the vast number of weapons at your disposal, we aren't necessarily talking
04:17 about Monster Hunter World's interchangeable weapons and roles and parties.
04:21 The character creation here is just as excellent as most of our other entries in this list.
04:26 The face sculpting gives just enough freedom to put either yourself or your favorite character
04:30 into the game.
04:31 The only gripe you might encounter will be with the lighting.
04:35 Many players will advise you to constantly check every angle of your character's face
04:39 after a slight alteration before jumping in, as uneven proportions can make your character
04:44 look kind of off under the game's sometimes questionable lighting.
04:53 Street Fighter VI
05:01 We never thought we'd live to see a character creator in Street Fighter, let alone an open
05:05 world action RPG campaign in a Street Fighter game.
05:09 And yet, here we are with Street Fighter VI.
05:12 This entry in Capcom's long-running fighting franchise has some surprisingly flexible customization
05:18 in its selection of hairstyles, makeup, and colors.
05:22 We actually wound up taking this opportunity to create the first anime waifu of Mojo plays.
05:28 Ladies and gentlemen, meet Mojo-Mi.
05:31 She is a street thug who escaped a cybernetics laboratory to discover the meaning of being
05:36 human.
05:37 And she plays video games.
05:38 Look, you can make just about anything and anyone you want in this game and give them
05:42 a story of your own.
05:44 Or you can be like the other half of the internet and come up with some freakish nightmare of
05:48 misproportioned limbs and eyes.
05:51 It's your call.
05:52 Play how you want.
05:59 Soul Calibur VI
06:06 Even with all of the bells and whistles Street Fighter VI offers, we have yet to see a fighting
06:10 game top Soul Calibur VI.
06:13 This is by far the most malleable character creation system we have seen in a fighting
06:17 game.
06:18 The only template you have to stick to is the weapon and move set of the character that
06:22 wields said weapon.
06:24 Other than that, you have almost free reign in how gorgeous, vicious, bold, intimidating,
06:30 dorky, creepy, ugly, menacing you want your custom character to be.
06:34 Just to give you an idea on how deep this system goes, you should go check out our video
06:38 on the 10 best Soul Calibur VI creations, written by yours truly by the way.
06:43 There were some wild designs floating around back then though.
06:46 And there still are today.
06:49 Cyberpunk 2077
06:57 Cyberpunk goes pretty damn hard on the character creation, and no, we swear that isn't an
07:02 innuendo.
07:03 The game really does give you a good amount of freedom to design the way you want to portray
07:06 V. You can make them look tough, edgy, emo, cool, stalky, bulky, busty, bulgy, maybe,
07:14 menacing, tatted up, anything you want.
07:16 As you explore Night City, you'll find some options for clothing attire to give V some
07:21 extra flair.
07:22 And if, for whatever reason, you're wanting a change in appearance, you can do so thanks
07:27 to the mystical powers of bathroom mirrors.
07:43 Grand Theft Auto V
07:50 Look it's probably the easy answer, but if you're looking for a game with an insanely
07:54 flexible character customizer, GTA V is it man.
07:59 The online mode is anyway.
08:01 You are given so many options to choose from that you can make just about anyone you can
08:05 think of.
08:06 I, Ty, made myself just to mess with the features and see how close I can get my avatar to a
08:13 character who looked like me.
08:15 The result was so eerily similar that it almost creeped out my own brother.
08:20 Basically if I was to age 10-15 years, and maybe get a haircut and an affinity for ugly
08:26 plaid suits, I would look exactly like my GTA character from top to bottom.
08:31 And yes, that scares me too.
08:34 I'm in the metaverse guys.

08:43 Thanks for watching.
