00:00 Right now I'm focusing on getting healthy and getting back to myself.
00:03 Shannon Beter is speaking out for the first time since her alleged DUI and hit and run
00:09 arrest.
00:10 The Real Housewives of Orange County star took to her Instagram on October 17th to post
00:15 a selfie video seemingly addressing the legal matter at hand, but still played pretty coy.
00:21 I know it's been a while since I posted and there's been a lot of talk about everything
00:26 that's happened recently, but unfortunately right now I'm not in the position to comment,
00:32 but there will be a time when I can and I intend to be open, honest and authentic.
00:37 Shannon concluded her short and somber message on a positive note though.
00:41 Right now I'm focusing on getting healthy and getting back to myself and walking my
00:46 truth.
00:50 The reality TV star was arrested on September 17th for allegedly driving her car into a
00:55 Newport beach house and then reportedly drove off before parking her vehicle in the middle
01:01 of the street and getting out of the car with her dog.
01:04 According to TMZ, police were called and found Shannon trying to quote "act like she was
01:09 taking a walk" but law enforcement sources told the publication that she quote "appeared
01:14 wasted."
01:15 Shannon was arrested and booked for two misdemeanors, a DUI and a hit and run, according to NBC
01:20 News and was eventually cited and released.
01:24 AXS Hollywood reached out for comment at the time of the incident.
01:28 Vicky Gunvalson recently shared her perspective on the incident while on AXS's new podcast,
01:34 Housewives Nightcap.
01:35 And now Shannon obviously has had this incident with the DUI.
01:40 So how is she doing?
01:41 Have you been in touch with her?
01:42 Yeah, I've been in touch with her every day.
01:44 We just got off the phone.
01:46 She's doing good.
01:47 She's taking ownership of it.
01:48 She's getting some health treatment, but she is one incredible woman.
01:52 She's taking ownership of this.
01:54 The ironic thing is Shannon doesn't and hasn't drive drunk, drink and drive.
02:01 She is an Uber girl.
02:02 She spends a ton of money a month.
02:04 But that night it was an unfortunate situation.
02:07 Shannon had been out with some friends and she might have had one too many and then went
02:11 to go try to find her phone.
02:12 She thought she left it at the restaurant.
02:14 So she got in her car because she couldn't call an Uber to find her phone because she
02:17 didn't have her phone.
02:19 So it was just a very unfortunate, quick, wrong decision.
02:23 And she's owning it.
02:24 She's going to take full responsibility.
02:26 She's already made restitution with the little garden wall that she hit.
02:31 And you know, she's I'm so proud of her.
02:34 I mean, I've hugged her and loved on her.
02:36 And I said, you know what, accidents happen.
02:38 This is an accident.
02:39 You take ownership of this, you get in front of it.
02:41 And she's she's doing all of that, not just because of me.
02:44 She knew she had to do that.
02:46 She's a public figure.
02:47 And I'm just so super proud of her.
02:49 I mean, she is totally saying I messed up, you know, give me what I need to do to make
02:55 restitution and I'll do it.
