Transcript
00:00 Hi, I'm Laura Reid, the Deputy Features Editor at the Yorkshire Post. I've just come on to
00:05 talk you through some of the features that we've run online and in print this week, in
00:09 case you've missed them. There's plenty to go out if you're fancying some long reads
00:13 for the weekend and of course we've also got our Yorkshire Post magazine with lots more
00:18 features published on Saturday as part of our Yorkshire Post weekend edition.
00:23 So at the start of the week we spoke to GB News presenter Eamon Holmes about his mental
00:30 health and growing up during the Troubles in Northern Ireland and that's ahead of an
00:34 appearance that he was doing in Yorkshire to support the Platform One charity. We heard
00:40 from University of Leeds professor Nick Taylor on how walking football helps his Parkinson's
00:47 disease and we also featured Big Ian Donaghy, the York teacher, dementia care stalwart and
00:53 the singer who just wants to help others. We looked at how Leeds charity Turning Lives
00:59 Around is supporting the hidden homeless in the city after a rise in referrals and we
01:05 heard from Yorkshire biologist, writer and campaigner Amy-Jane Beer on the power of rivers
01:10 and the need to protect them. Yorkshire Families told us how support dogs have helped reduce
01:16 judgement from strangers when they're out and about, talking as part of Invisible Disabilities
01:22 Week and we heard from Luke Jennings whose stories inspired the hit TV series Killing
01:27 Eve ahead of his appearance in Harrogate. And finally in Arts and Culture we looked
01:33 at a new exhibition in Sheffield exploring connections between John Ruskin, William Morris
01:38 and a 20th century German art and design movement. If you want to keep up to date with all the
01:44 latest features from the team then please do consider signing up to our Yorkshire Lifestyle
01:50 newsletter. It comes out once a week and features highlights from the features team with our
01:57 magazine content, health and environment stories, lots of human interest, property, culture,
02:04 arts and entertainment, music, fashion and much more.
