Inverness welcomes the Walk of Light to the city centre for the first time in support of Baby Loss Awareness Week.
Transcript
00:00 I'm Lindsay Donaldson and I'm the peer supporter and hospital liaison for the Highlands.
00:05 And I'm Jackie Heasley, I'm head of fundraising for Held in Our Hearts.
00:10 So the Walk of Light is something that the team in Edinburgh have been doing for a few years now.
00:15 So Held in Our Hearts have come together with bereaved families in our community
00:20 and it's just a time to not sit in isolation and be alone when you're lighting your candle
00:27 on the 7 o'clock on the 15th of October.
00:30 And it's something we wanted to emulate up here in Inverness.
00:33 We have only been running our services in Inverness for 18 months
00:40 but the response and the referrals and the feedback that we're getting in the services
00:45 from our peer supporter and our counsellor has been phenomenal.
00:50 And we know it's so valued, the service that we're providing
00:54 and the amount of people coming through to us, we know that it's needed.
00:58 So to have it here, to have this walk, shows how much our services are needed
01:03 and how much our families need to be part of the community that's celebrating the way of light today.
01:09 The turnout today I think was perfect.
01:13 It's our first year of walking in Inverness on this date
01:18 and I can honestly say that a lot of the families that we support came on the walk
01:22 which was lovely to see, but it's also been well attended by people that we don't support
01:27 so it just shows the need for the walk tonight.
