00:00 And it's this way, we don't have a market on at the moment.
00:04 Well we can show you the space and kind of what we get up to as well.
00:07 So if you come down here there's usually stalls that run all the way down this side here.
00:14 And they run all the way down to the bottom.
00:17 As you can tell we've got some artwork as well, so this was done by, what's his name again?
00:21 Richard.
00:22 Richard. That one was also done by, that was a campaign to protect your palm oil.
00:29 What company was that again Lewis?
00:30 Meridian.
00:31 Meridian, so it was like a company commissioned us to do that as well.
00:34 Then a lot of these are like just tags, but a lot of people use that to advertise space as well.
00:39 And up there's got the businesses that are actually in this spot as well.
00:43 That's another wall!
00:49 When the market's on we have gazebos set up all the way down here to kind of keep out of the rain.
00:59 And then this space is opened up as well, there's no cars usually in here.
01:04 And my mum actually does tarot card reading at the market in here.
01:10 So she kind of tells your future.
01:13 We usually have a couple of spaces here too.
01:17 She told us you were going to come and film me today so it does work, the tarot's I'm telling you.
01:27 We've got a pizza pop-up at the bottom as well, but they actually started in the market and they're here permanently as well.
01:32 Yeah, and then this is a modern art installation which the guy's been building up.
01:39 He's a kind of artist called Andy and he's been kind of working on, he's been doing a kind of modern art.
01:46 I think he went to maybe New York back in like the 70s or something and got mad inspired and just put this whole thing together.
01:53 He's building something big, I think he's aiming for 2024, maybe 2025, kind of reveal exhibition inside there.
02:03 Which we're very excited about.
02:06 This is another wall, we're going to get some artwork up here.
02:09 So the plans are to get loads of artwork up on the walls, so we're going to be working with bongo signs.
02:14 I knew that car was coming as well.
02:19 [Laughs]
02:21 We're going to be working with bongo signs just next door and art pistol as well just to kind of create some bespoke art
02:36 and like kind of commission the local artists as well to kind of get them some money and they can do stuff on our walls as well.
02:41 That was done by a guy called Baxter, that was the first one I think, wasn't it?
02:48 So he's based in Australia now and yeah, so it doesn't look a bit too, it needs a bit of work because obviously it's a six year old that one as well.
02:59 Five years old that gable as well, so that was kind of like, that's like our staple anyways as well.
03:06 So that's kind of, if you know Park Lane Market, you know that.
03:09 Yeah, but we're trying to save up some money to buy him a plane ticket back so that he can do it up a wee bit more.
03:17 This is from the 1940s and the, I don't know what it's doing with it but it's doing something crazy with it, we don't know yet, so we'll figure out as well.
03:27 Quite exciting.
03:29 So the stalls go all the way back normally, so we have a stall here, stall there, stall there.
03:35 Then obviously this is all different businesses that are actually located here as well, so we've got a guitar shop all the way upstairs.
03:43 There's the Bevy's store which kind of just does take away cocktails and they make their own booze as well.
03:48 We've also got recording studios up here and art studios and rehearsal rooms as well but they kind of come when the market's on sometimes as well.
03:55 Then we go all the way down here into the pink wall and the pizza pop-up runs Friday, Saturday, Sunday as well.
04:09 And you get delicious pizza made by this lady here.
04:14 Hi, say hi to Rebecca, she's the pizza lady.
04:18 No, no, no, you're actually getting filmed for her. You look very brown.
04:26 I woke up this morning and I must have taken a laryngoid reaction to a bite and my eye was swollen shut.
04:31 You're funny, sorry man.
04:33 My eyelid was hanging in there.
04:35 You're getting all this.
04:37 Girl with the action, girl with the action.
04:39 Stevie, say hi to Stevie. So that's Stevie the guitar guy over there.
04:43 He can repair any guitar.
04:46 We've got Harry in here.
04:51 Ninja.
04:54 He's somewhere in there.
04:58 So Harry does all the cocktails, so that's his shop here. They do an array of take-away cocktails home.
05:06 They make booze as well. I don't know, he can tell you what he does.
05:10 But this is open, when's this open? I don't know.
05:13 Tuesday till Sunday.
05:14 Tuesday till Sunday, I should know but I don't.
05:16 Then that's Friday, Saturday, Sunday and that's literally got a pop gallery as well which is all the dogs that have come to the market so far.
05:25 We've actually got more dogs that come here.
05:27 All the dogs that are like...
05:29 I hate her love.
05:31 Yeah, yeah, we don't discriminate against dogs.
05:33 We've got some ones here. That's a one for sure.
05:36 Yeah, but you can eat outside with a kind of effect as if you're on a boat next to a sail.
05:48 So that's quite luxurious.
05:50 And so you can have your drinks and your food all in here.
05:55 And yeah, there's a heater that's being built at the moment.
05:57 And we might be getting a stretch tent to go up on the top.
06:01 So see all these lights are so when winter starts and it gets dark, we're going to have a big tent at the top as well.
06:07 So I think that should be cool.
06:08 We're actually doing Christmas trees over. No, I don't talk about Christmas yet.
06:11 Yeah, but we'll be selling Christmas trees.
06:14 She got that. She shat herself with that as well.
06:18 So tell me about the history of the wine.
06:20 History wise, so that's pretty funny actually. You can tell you.
06:24 I met Harry because I sold him these glasses at a pop up shop that I was running from a friend who sold glasses.
06:34 I sold Harry glasses and we got chatting and spoke about how we're going to do a market down here.
06:40 And he was like, can I get involved? And he threw his hat away with excitement.
06:44 And that's how it happened.
06:46 And then he was like, I can bring gazebos and I can bring tables and I can bring alcohol.
06:53 You guys can come and check out. Don't be scared.
06:56 We're just we're just doing a bit of filming, but you're more than a bit history lesson about space.
07:02 And so we basically borrowed gazebos and borrowed tables and anything that we could find.
07:10 And we ran the market close to six years ago now.
07:14 And it was it was super duper busy and we just intended it to be a one off thing.
07:19 But we kept on getting emails saying, when would you like to do it again or when can you do it again?
07:24 We'd love to have a space at your market.
07:27 And then we've kind of unintentionally created this market that has been going for almost six years now.
07:33 But we love it. It's like a nice, nice kind of way to bring a lot of kind of people.
07:38 Our aim with the market was to give people a space to sell their stuff that they might have tried to make.
07:45 Like you might try and make something and be like, oh, maybe I can make this into a business.
07:49 But a lot of markets may have quite a high kind of price point or something.
07:52 So we're like super cheap place to sell your stuff.
07:57 And we've basically just kept that from the get go. And it's quite nice.
08:01 Yeah. And it's like at first it was more about like for me, my my kind of whole thing was when I initially saw this place,
08:07 I was like I thought about community, community, community.
08:09 And I think since we've started doing this, we've actually become such a focal point in this area as well.
08:14 And I think in Shorelands and the South Side is actually growing so much in terms of demographic, the kind of people moving here.
08:20 And it just becomes like more of a I'd say more of a kind of younger and more kind of creative kind of demographic.
08:25 And we're kind of lucky to be to be part of that growth as well.
08:29 And yeah, we've got like older, older, older, just people in general.
08:35 But I say about young creatives, young professionals as well, a lot of people are moving from all around the world.
08:39 And I think we got voted the seventh best place to live in Times Magazine out of 51.
08:45 So I think it's a pretty cool area as well.
08:47 And I think our aim is to to eventually develop the space to become more of a kind of community hub
08:51 as well and get the community more involved in kind of what we do from working with different kind of stakeholders to kind of just create something a little bit more special,
08:59 a bit more magical and a bit more fun without the hassle of like trying to make it too commercially.
09:05 So all about profits is about more of a kind of social enterprise, I'd probably say as well.
09:09 So that's like that's my my end.
09:12 That's Harry with a hangover.
09:16 As well, then we've actually had some people buy some alcohol.
09:19 Do you want to see what they look like?
09:20 The booze? I see that we got a camera.
09:22 Sorry, guys. Do you want to show the camera your cocktails?
09:27 No. Do you want to show the camera what kind of cocktails you bought?
09:32 So she can. Don't be scared.
09:37 It's fine. It's only going on YouTube.
09:41 But yes, this is what we do. Yes, everything's a little bit.
09:45 Yeah, a bit random. But we've we've got we've got a plan, I think, to kind of create just a little hub of the community where people can come and hang.
09:54 And as I said, it's not for us, it's not anything commercial at the moment.
09:59 You know, it's just more of a community vibe for us. It's about kind of creating a space where everyone feels welcome.
