00:00 Our guys around me gave me a chance to make plays all game long.
00:04 We threw 60 balls and I had no pressure.
00:07 That's unheard of.
00:07 So, our offensive line played the butt off and I just can't express how thankful I am
00:12 for those guys and receivers just played unbelievable.
00:15 They made catches all day long.
00:16 So, I'm really proud of those guys and I feel we had an opportunity to go this week
00:21 and fix some things we did wrong and go be even more explosive on offense.
00:24 Yeah, I thought we left some points out there, but it's great to be back in the win column.
00:29 >> Could you have ever imagined you were gonna throw the ball that many times?
00:32 >> Yeah, I mean, I don't care.
00:34 I love throwing it.
00:35 So, whatever it takes to win, that's just kind of how the flow of the game went and
00:39 that's just kind of how we were calling it based on flow of the game.
00:42 And so, just roll with it and execute the play.
00:46 >> Coach and JP have both been in here, both talked about it.
00:48 We're not surprised at how you were ready.
00:50 We're just talking about being prepared for the moment, being prepared for this first start.
00:54 >> Yeah, I mean, I feel like I've worked my whole life for this opportunity.
00:58 And so, the good Lord's blessed me to be here.
01:01 And honestly, I shouldn't be here.
01:03 I mean, I was coming to Indiana, didn't have any offers like this.
01:06 And so, Coach Dykes took a chance on me and
01:08 I just can't express how grateful I am for that opportunity.
01:10 So to be here and to play with these guys on this stage is just,
01:14 it's unbelievable and I'm just so thankful.
01:17 >> How much different was it this week, though,
01:19 going in that you were gonna be starting, or was it much different?
01:21 >> Yeah, I'm sorry.
01:22 It wasn't a whole lot different.
01:26 Before, I tried to prepare like I was gonna play.
01:28 So this week, I did the same thing.
01:30 And I think I talked to her earlier this week, but I was more intentional this week
01:34 with spending time with the guys and getting other guys in the film room with me, so
01:37 we get on the same page.
01:38 >> Could you walk us through your mindset as you stepped onto the field for
01:41 the first time, that first offensive drive?
01:43 How were you feeling throughout all of that?
01:46 >> Yeah, that first drive was kind of a blur, to be honest, looking back at it.
01:49 But that first drive was, things are kind of moving fast.
01:55 And thankfully, JP made a heck of a play.
01:57 So guys in the end zone made a big play.
01:59 But yeah, I was pumped and just excited, ready to go.
02:04 >> And JP made a couple big catches.
02:05 Sagan made a couple big catches as well.
02:07 You threw a touchdown, four different guys today.
02:10 What's your relationship like with those guys in the locker room and
02:12 how did they set up for you today?
02:14 >> Yeah, I think I have a really good relationship with a lot of those guys.
02:16 And that's something we're gonna continue to work on and
02:19 continue spending time off the field.
02:21 The big thing is I want those guys to not care about me.
02:23 I want them to know that I want them to be successful on Saturdays.
02:26 I'm gonna put the time in Monday through Friday to tell them, hey,
02:30 this is what you're gonna do, this is what we're about.
02:33 And so I think that relationship's good and it's gonna continue to grow and
02:37 be really intentional about spending time with those guys and
02:39 just letting them not care about how to play.
02:41 >> The fact that the coach trusted you to throw the ball almost 60 times,
02:44 how much confidence does that give you?
02:46 >> Yeah, it gives a lot of confidence.
02:48 A lot of times there's always this stigma, it's like first game,
02:51 they're trying to ease you into it and all that.
02:52 I'm a shooter, I was ready to get up, so I can carry the last throw.
02:55 More than that, yeah, I can.
02:57 >> You put in a lot of work over spring and
02:58 the summer to lose all that weight and to get faster.
03:01 I mean, it complements your game now that you're more of a guy that can run the ball.
03:05 >> Yeah, yeah, I think it definitely helps with scrambling and
03:08 getting away from defensive linemen, which we did today.
03:10 Well, we scrambled pretty well.
03:12 So it definitely helps to drop some pounds over the off season just to work on
03:18 being quicker and faster and all that stuff.
03:20 I mean, always still working on that stuff, so.
03:23 >> You talked a little bit about some of the things you guys can improve on today.
03:26 There are a couple picks there as well.
03:28 What was Coach Brottas' message to you after those interceptions on the sideline?
03:32 >> Yeah, the first one, just didn't get the look we wanted.
03:36 And I just tried to force it, just tried to force the dig into JP.
03:40 And that's one, it's first down, probably just take it and
03:45 seed it, throw it out back in zone or to scramble.
03:48 So that was just my fault all the way.
03:50 And then second one, just gotta be major, feel the same page.
03:54 Probably give him a better ball, so he can have an opportunity to catch it.
03:57 And so it is what it is.
04:00 Made some mistakes, made some plays.
04:02 And I'm gonna learn from it and move on and just continue to grow as an offense.
04:06 So Coach Brottas is, he's really, really calm, cool.
04:09 And I think that personality definitely fits the way I am on the sideline.
04:13 So he didn't come over and say, no, I don't believe in you anymore.
04:17 we're gonna hand the ball off, so just shows you his confidence in me and
04:20 what we're doing.
