00:00 >> Okay, gentlemen, schedule the box eight rounds.
00:06 We're going over the rules in the dressing room.
00:08 I expect you to obey my commands at all times.
00:10 Most of all, protect yourself at all times.
00:12 Touch gloves, good luck.
00:14 >> Guido Villanueva looks like he's all business tonight.
00:17 He said, "I learned that I cannot take anything for granted inside the ring against Johnny
00:22 Rice.
00:23 I was beating him on the scorecards easily until that cut happened in the sixth round.
00:28 The fight was stopped in the seventh due to incessant bleeding.
00:31 So we'll see if he comes out blazing here in round number one.
00:37 Bernardo Osuna alongside international boxing hall of famer Timothy Bradley.
00:42 Curtis Harper is upset-minded, but he's inconsistent in the ring.
00:49 >> So right away, Harper getting right after it, trying to close that gap with blitz.
00:54 Yep, blitzes.
00:55 But he's got what an uppercut, perfectly timed right there from Villanueva.
01:02 >> That's the danger.
01:03 You expose yourself when you open up when you throw punches, and that's the case for
01:09 Curtis Harper, who's coming off of a knockout loss to Damian Knieva.
01:13 Before that, it was against the giant Bakodir Zhalivov.
01:16 And Villanueva said, "If you guys are sleeping on me, thinking that I'm weak now because
01:21 I lost, I got something else to show you tonight."
01:27 >> Good defense right there from Villanueva.
01:32 Looking for improvement.
01:33 I'm starting to see a little bit of it.
01:35 And also, he's maintaining his distance outside when he's shooting his punches.
01:39 He's not falling in.
01:42 But the only problem right there right now is he's going straight back.
01:44 He has to learn to turn out to the sides.
01:47 One, maybe two steps back, if any.
01:50 And often on any angle.
01:52 >> It's interesting because he comes from a family of tennis players.
01:55 He was a tennis player himself, almost at a semi-pro level.
02:00 And you have to have lateral movement as a tennis player.
02:03 >> Yeah, you do.
02:05 You got to have lateral movement.
02:06 But I like what I see in so far because he slowed down his footwork.
02:10 He's not jumping around, hopping around, and slowed it down to be able to sit on his shots
02:15 and be set and ready to punch when he needs to.
02:18 You know, when you're jumping and hopping around, you're not set.
02:23 You're not.
02:24 And when you're doing it in range, you're susceptible to get hit with shots.
02:29 And see, he's pulling straight back right there.
02:31 He got hit.
02:33 >> Illustrated by Curtis Harper.
02:37 >> See, Harper's taking some deep penetration steps right there.
02:41 He's trying to get close.
02:43 And he's jabbing his way in.
02:45 Doing the right thing.
02:47 >> Oh, that's another.
02:49 Almost clashed heads.
02:50 And Guido's going to have to be careful with that.
02:54 That cut opened up January 14th.
02:57 So about ten months.
02:59 Almost to the day, ten months.
03:03 >> That's enough time.
03:04 That's enough time.
03:05 That's more than enough time for a cut to heal up.
03:10 Just worrying about getting hit on that eye once again.
03:12 And that scar tissue around it.
03:17 Reopening.
03:19 >> So Vianello and Harper have something in common.
03:22 Neither has been able to beat Guido Vianello.
03:24 It was a draw for Guido.
03:26 Or actually, Efe Yajagba.
03:27 Vianello had a draw.
03:29 And Curtis Harper, he had some good performances in his career.
03:32 But he will always probably be known as the guy that got up and walked out of the ring
03:36 at the start of his fight against Efe Yajagba in August of 2018.
03:40 >> Why did you walk out of the ring?
03:48 >> Give me one second.
03:49 Hold on one second.
03:50 >> Not something that I truly want to, I enjoy talking about.
03:56 >> I walked out of the ring from a unsigned contract on the opponent's part.
04:01 >> My medical not getting paid for before the fight even started.
04:05 Third grade was.
04:07 Not getting paid out.
04:08 They got a loss on my record.
04:10 I should get paid for the loss, right?
04:11 >> I appreciate the chance to continue to get into the ring and fight every chance I
04:15 do.
04:16 Being that people thought I was afraid.
04:17 I wasn't afraid of Efe Yajagba.
04:18 It was just the right thing to do when I did it.
04:19 I regret doing it for not getting paid for it because it was a financial loss to my family.
04:20 It's boxing.
04:21 What I do is what I love.
04:22 And I appreciate the fact that I still get to be able to get in the ring.
04:37 >> Curtis Harper told us, look, I've been blessed enough that I wasn't blackballed.
04:42 I was able to get back in the ring and fight five more times.
04:46 So he hopes to move on from that.
04:48 But, Tim, he's always going to be known for that.
04:51 >> At least he's going to be remembered.
04:53 I mean, he's not going to be remembered for being this stellar heavyweight fighter.
04:59 So at least he's going to be remembered in life for something.
05:03 >> True.
05:04 >> He was on vacation three days ago in Hawaii.
05:11 His son, who is his trainer, his 23-year-old, Mark Musser, said we were working out on the
05:17 beach, but Harper told us, hey, I had that vacation planned from last year.
05:22 So I'm not going to change my vacation.
05:25 >> But he still got busy.
05:26 >> He may wait.
05:27 >> Oh, you know what I mean.
05:28 He ain't got to make wait.
05:29 But I'm just saying, he still stands disciplined.
05:31 He's making a good account of himself thus far.
05:35 He's the one that's pushing the fight in a tempo right now, trying to get inside and
05:38 make Guido fight.
05:40 Guido seems like the one that's uncomfortable.
05:43 Right now, I can't get a rhythm.
05:45 >> I wonder how much having been cut affects him.
05:50 You see how he picks up the chin, making sure the head doesn't hit the eye.
05:55 It's on his mind.
05:56 >> I don't think Guido's worried about that.
05:58 He's not worried about a cut right now.
06:00 What he's worried about is that head coming in.
06:03 That's what he's worried about.
06:05 >> And what could that head do to him?
06:07 >> Cut him.
06:08 >> So he's worried about that.
06:10 >> Well, in a sense, yeah.
06:13 He's trying to avoid it.
06:19 When I got cut and healed up, I wasn't worried about the cut in the fight.
06:23 It is what it is.
06:24 If it reopens, it reopens.
06:25 If it didn't, it didn't.
06:26 >> It happens.
06:27 >> It happens.
06:28 >> Guido can't get anything established.
06:36 Harper's a lot more savvier than he thought, I'm sure.
06:40 Harper is darting in.
06:42 Sometimes he'll come behind his jab.
06:44 Sometimes he'll just change gears and explode.
06:46 He's got a quick first step when he chooses to step inside.
06:51 >> He's pretty durable.
06:52 He went eight rounds with Damian Knieva, undefeated at 10-0 at the time, and was stopped by a
06:58 giant, Bakudir Jalovov, who was 11-0 in the fourth round.
07:04 He's lost to F.A.
07:05 Jogba by disqualification.
07:06 Gilles Lejeune stopped him.
07:07 Gerald Washington stopped him.
07:09 >> Ooh, good right hand.
07:10 >> He's been in messed up.
07:12 >> He heard him with that right hand.
07:14 As you can see, Harper getting on his bike now.
07:16 That was a beautiful right hand.
07:20 >> And Guido said, "If I hurt him, I'm going to try to finish him."
07:25 But Harper's a very experienced fighter and knows how to tie up when he's hurt.
07:32 >> Tough veteran.
07:33 Tough veteran.
07:34 Knows how to disguise when he's hurt.
07:35 Knows how to tie up.
07:36 Knows how to get close.
07:37 Knows how to deceive you.
07:38 Bagging off.
07:39 >> Might have been on vacation, but he's standing up trying to show that he's in shape.
07:52 >> Let's take a look at the right hand that Guido Villanueva was able to land.
07:57 >> Moving forward.
07:58 He can't hit.
07:59 >> Wow, that was a nice set-up shot right there.
08:03 Right over the top.
08:04 That's called a right cross.
08:05 Right over the jab of Harper.
08:09 Harper shooting the jab from the wrong range.
08:10 Trying to step in to get in the inside.
08:12 That double jab that he threw early on, he was able to find his way.
08:16 Guido met him with that right hand over the top.
08:19 So he read him.
08:20 He already had that in his pocket.
08:23 And he finally landed it.
08:32 >> Trainer Simone Dallin-Sandri.
08:36 They had been undefeated both in the amateurs and in the pros until that unfortunate punch
08:41 caused the cut on the eyelid of Guido Villanueva.
08:46 So now they're off to start a new streak against Curtis Harper.
08:51 Round three of a scheduled eight-round fight inside the Fort Bend Epicenter in Rosenburg,
08:56 Texas.
08:57 Nice uppercut from Harper.
09:00 >> Harper knows that Guido doesn't like the physicality on the inside.
09:05 He's doing everything he can to make him uncomfortable.
09:08 And you can tell you were right.
09:11 I'm going to tell you, you were right.
09:13 I was right last time.
09:15 You were right this time.
09:16 Guido is definitely worried about getting cut because that head of Harper is in his
09:20 face.
09:21 And he's doing everything, looking, putting his head up in the air, trying to get his
09:24 head out of the way, which is smart.
09:25 You don't want to leave your head there to get hit.
09:29 >> That right hand kind of shook up Harper.
09:31 But the other thing, Tim, is you don't want to leave your chin exposed.
09:34 >> No, you don't want to leave your chin exposed.
09:36 You got to be careful.
09:37 You got to be responsible.
09:38 But I think that Guido has control of Harper's guards and the inside.
09:44 He's tying him up.
09:45 >> There's another overhand right from Guido Vianello.
09:48 >> See, but Guido got to throw it from the right range.
09:51 I mean, he's throwing it from too close.
09:52 There's no power, really no power on those shots.
09:56 And if he does throw the right hand, he needs to throw it shorter.
10:01 >> Good to see that jab working for Guido Vianello, even if it didn't land.
10:07 At least it gives Harper something to think about.
10:10 There's the head, almost a head clash right there.
10:13 >> And Bradley special.
10:15 >> Yeah, leaning forward.
10:17 >> Nice shot, that hook from Guido.
10:24 Switching things up.
10:26 >> Yeah, if you do the same thing over and over, your opponent is going to expect it.
10:31 Now if you change it up, which Guido just did, you surprise him, catch him off guard.
10:37 But it really was just one shot.
10:39 It wasn't no follow-up shots.
10:40 But that was a good combination right there from Guido.
10:45 Guido's looking to catch him with the uppercut.
10:46 That's the shot that he wants.
10:47 He wants that uppercut while he's coming on the way in.
10:50 If he lands it flush on the chin, he's going to do a ton of damage with it.
10:54 Good jab, circling jab right there from Guido.
10:59 Nice.
11:00 >> I mean, Guido getting into a rhythm.
11:04 Also, we've got to say he's been out since January 14th.
11:07 That's 10 months.
11:10 >> Yes, but I can see the dedication.
11:14 Different type of-- he's fighting with a different type of desire as well.
11:17 You know, he seems really focused in the fight.
11:19 You know, I asked him in the fighter meetings, I said, "Did you ever take this for granted?
11:24 Did you ever think you were better than yourself?"
11:26 He said, "Absolutely not."
11:27 You know, he said, "I just know now that I have to take it seriously."
11:32 I just said, "Man, it's a different type of fight."
11:33 I said, "I didn't-- you know, when I would talk to you to begin with, I didn't believe
11:37 in you."
11:38 But now I'm like, "Hey, okay.
11:41 You really want this."
11:42 >> All right, Guido Villanueva in the ring right now, coming up immediately after it,
11:55 another heavyweight prospect with big dreams, Richard Torres Jr., the Olympic silver medalist
12:00 in Tokyo, looking for his seventh victory.
12:03 He's 6-0 with six knockouts.
12:05 Then we'll move over to ESPN, and it'll be Keyshawn Davis taking on Nahir Albright, a
12:12 young man who's coming with upset on his mind.
12:15 But Keyshawn Davis says, "I'm healthier than ever, and you're gonna see the new me."
12:21 And then our main event, a world title unification bout between WBO champion Zanabek "Alem" Hanala
12:29 and Vincenzo Gualtieri, who's coming off of beating Olympian Eskiva Falcao for the IBF
12:38 world title.
12:39 He's only got seven knockouts in his career, but he says, "Tonight, it'll be my will and
12:46 my skill against the power of Zanabek Alem Hanala."
12:49 That'll be on ESPN immediately after Auburn LSU.
12:56 Now, look at Harper coming out in the southpaw stance.
13:05 Got hit with a right hand and I made him turn back towards the docks.
13:09 He was like, "I'm gonna try southpaw."
13:11 No, go back door at the docks.
13:13 Maybe not.
13:14 Getting caught on the way in now.
13:16 Harper just rushing straight in.
13:18 Coming through the front door, no knock on it, no nothing.
13:20 Don't throw a rock at the door.
13:21 I mean, nothing.
13:22 No feints.
13:23 At least come behind and switch a jab.
13:28 He gets caught in no man's land.
13:30 He's squared up instead of orthodox or southpaw, so that's a dangerous position for Harper
13:35 to be in.
13:36 Guido now, he found the timing now.
13:39 He has the timing.
13:40 Get this jab working now.
13:42 He's landing a right hand over the jab, but where's the follow up?
13:45 Where's the hook?
13:46 Give me something else.
13:47 Give me a hook downstairs.
13:48 Change it up a bit.
13:50 Put combinations together.
13:55 Harper not allowing him the distance.
14:00 That's the Harper blitz right there.
14:05 Blitz.
14:08 Come on, guys.
14:18 We boxing, man.
14:19 We boxing.
14:20 We boxing.
14:21 Harper's hurt.
14:22 Biennialo, as long as he doesn't smother himself, he's going to give himself an opportunity
14:31 to shine, but he's right on top of him.
14:34 Harper showing that experience right there.
14:36 Getting inside, closing the distance.
14:40 That's a great way to survive.
14:46 It's one punch at a time, Tim.
14:48 That's no more than one-two from Biennialo.
14:50 He needs to let him go.
14:52 Why not try to dig to the body?
14:55 He's setting him up.
14:59 He's trying to gauge the distance, but Harper's showing himself to be elusive.
15:03 Can you hit the chest?
15:04 Can you hit the body?
15:05 Can you hit something?
15:06 Can you hit the arm?
15:07 Biennialo, there's a body too.
15:12 There's a body too.
15:14 Head hunting all the time.
15:16 You talk about the scoring zone.
15:19 It's not just the dreadlocks you got to make, Wigley.
15:23 Everything else.
15:24 You can even hit the arm.
15:25 I mean, Canelo, he shows us that all the time.
15:28 You can even hit the arm.
15:29 Hit the lead arm.
15:30 You know why Canelo does that, right?
15:33 Takes the jab away from the taller opponent.
15:36 Hits him right on the arm.
15:37 Right on that lead shoulder.
15:39 The tallest he's ever faced, Callum Smith, he actually tore his bicep with that, those
15:44 punches to the arm.
15:49 It's getting rough here for Guido Biennialo and Curtis Harper.
15:53 So, four rounds in.
15:55 We're halfway through, and the best shot of the fight so far was a Guido Biennialo right
16:01 hand.
16:02 Yeah, I don't know why both men are tired.
16:03 They're walking back to their corner like they did something, but I'm going to tell
16:06 you this.
16:07 That right hand right there, nice little swing jab.
16:09 That jab was just meant to occupy the eyes.
16:12 Look at that.
16:13 Nice, didn't catch anything, but nice extension with the right hand.
16:16 Harper did a good job in taking that.
16:20 Beautiful.
16:21 You can see the sweat fly off the head of Harper.
16:25 My goodness.
16:26 You've got to move in, all right?
16:28 You've got to move in.
16:29 That's what you're working on.
16:30 You've got to use that jab.
16:31 Use your jab to get in, then you start throwing some uppercuts and shit.
16:34 All right?
16:35 You've got to move.
16:36 You've got to use your hands.
16:37 Don't just fucking stay there open.
16:38 Keep it tight.
16:39 Keep it simple.
16:40 Get in there, okay?
16:41 Get fucking in there.
16:42 Get in.
16:43 That's Martin Musser.
16:44 His son Curtis Harper said, "You may not look like me, but I've been around his life since
16:51 he was a teenager.
16:52 That is my son."
16:53 Tim, we were impressed at how mature Musser was.
16:58 Absolutely.
16:59 Very mature.
17:00 Answered questions well.
17:03 Very articulate, man, for a young man, 23 years old.
17:06 Sharp, I told him, I said, "Man, you might be a manager.
17:09 Why don't you go into the managing position?"
17:11 He said, "Absolutely not."
17:13 Yeah.
17:18 No, you're right.
17:23 Would you let your daughter swear at you like that?
17:27 Man, come on.
17:28 You know better than to even ask that.
17:30 Did they put tape on one of his dreadlocks?
17:40 I don't know.
17:41 It was starting to loosen up.
17:42 Look, they did on the left.
17:44 What they need to do is-
17:46 Don't be a menace to society.
17:48 What they need to do is throw more punches, man.
17:52 Because I'm about to go to sleep.
17:54 You want to take a break?
17:57 I can go to the restaurant right now, go get something to eat, get a hamburger or something.
18:02 This fight is still going on.
18:03 A B&B sandwich?
18:04 Nah, I don't want no- Nah, I got high cholesterol.
18:07 I don't want to do that no more.
18:10 Good jabs, good jabs, but nothing else to follow up behind it.
18:14 When you're able to land a jab-
18:16 My father used to always tell me, "Son, you did great work landing the jab.
18:20 Set up, throw the power shot behind it.
18:24 You got him occupied."
18:26 Guido's landing the flicking jab.
18:28 He's landing, he's found his range.
18:30 Throw the right hand behind it.
18:32 Harper from the southpaw stance.
18:36 Just far enough from Guido Vianello's right.
18:39 The problem with Vianello is he came out like gangbusters
18:46 and there's been regression in his career since the FAH Occidental.
18:51 Technique is a little off, I would say.
18:54 Slow.
18:56 Hands are slow. Feet are faster than his hands.
18:59 When he throws his combinations, he's a bit wide with them.
19:04 But not sharp and crisp combinations.
19:07 Every now and then he might have a good sequence, but it's not consistent enough.
19:11 A lot of posing going on.
19:15 Harper's just buying his time, saying, "I could do this all day.
19:18 I'm going to go home with a clean face and a nice paycheck."
19:21 He's like, "Man, we can go back to Hawaii after this."
19:24 Yes, exactly.
19:27 You know how in a football game you can do a running flag?
19:31 Yeah.
19:32 It would be nice to just do a running flag right here with this fight.
19:35 Fifth round in the book.
19:54 Fifth round in the books.
19:56 Vianello Harper.
19:58 [cheering]
20:00 [music]
20:03 [music]
20:06 [speaking Italian]
20:33 [speaking Italian]
20:35 Tim Bradley, that was the alarm.
20:59 I wish my son would talk to me crazy like that.
21:03 I don't care if this is boxing.
21:05 My son would not talk to me crazy like that, man.
21:09 Not if you want to keep your teeth.
21:13 Round six.
21:18 Guido Vianello, the gladiator.
21:21 I wanted the gladiator to come out here in round number six.
21:24 Against Curtis Harper, who is his son and trainer.
21:29 Martin Muster was like, "Hey, I want you angry at this guy."
21:32 Tim's angry at both of these guys.
21:36 Well, Guido's not really--I mean, he's trying to do something about it.
21:42 There we go. Come on, baby.
21:43 Harper got caught up against the ropes.
21:45 Or of the ropes.
21:48 Harper would buy time.
21:53 He would do whatever it takes to get in here.
21:57 Go home, unscathed.
22:00 You have to beat the fight out of Harper.
22:03 You got to take it to him.
22:05 You got to show that you're at a different level.
22:08 Because when you're fighting to the level of your competition, like Guido was doing,
22:12 who can take you seriously?
22:14 Yeah. Well said, Tim.
22:20 [crowd shouting]
22:22 This dude said he came from Hawaii.
22:29 He came from a trip.
22:31 We even asked him if he sparred.
22:33 He was like, "No, I didn't spar. I didn't know. I didn't spar. I just--"
22:37 And he's in there hanging.
22:40 Well, Guido right now, who probably did a full training camp, all hard, nutritionist,
22:45 ran every day, slept, didn't go out, didn't do anything.
22:49 This guy right now is in the ring with him.
22:51 Competing with him.
22:53 Aloha.
22:55 Yeah, he went to that luau.
22:57 Still on vacation mode.
23:01 And hanging with Guido Villanueva.
23:04 Yeah, because if you don't give him something to worry about, he's going to do this all night.
23:08 He doesn't even respect Guido.
23:11 Oh, that right hand gets his respect.
23:13 He doesn't respect him.
23:15 Nice body shot from Guido.
23:33 Getting too close.
23:35 He took one too on the way out.
23:37 There it is. Bing.
23:39 Getting too close.
23:42 Keep going.
23:44 Once again, it's a right hand, left hand from Harper.
23:48 Upper cut from Harper.
23:51 Fans are getting hyped here in Houston.
23:53 Nice shots from Harper on the inside.
23:57 Ref, you got to get out of the way, David Fields.
23:59 They didn't want--the ref did not want them to fall out of the ring.
24:03 That's what he was worried about.
24:06 He did not want any of them to fall out of the ring.
24:09 Richard Torres, he'll be coming up right after Guido Villanueva.
24:13 And when it comes to Torres, you won't want to blink.
24:16 He's got four knockouts in the first round, one knockout in the second,
24:19 and one knockout in the third round in his pro debut.
24:22 Last time out.
24:24 That's what happened.
24:26 A short shot.
24:28 Boom, right to the chin.
24:30 Willie Harper Jr. didn't even see it.
24:32 Willie Jake Jr. didn't even see it.
24:34 That was a nice reverse shift right there.
24:36 Look at the upper cuts forcing the referee to step in.
24:40 And at the end, it was Torres improving to 6-0 with six knockouts.
24:45 Tim, we really want to see him in against better competition
24:49 so he can show what he's capable of.
24:52 Yeah, I mean, it's not his call at this moment.
24:56 I'm sure he would like to step up and face the best competition.
24:59 This is a silver medalist, Olympic silver medalist.
25:02 He has the skills.
25:04 It doesn't matter the size.
25:06 You don't go to the Olympics and fight against the best and be that size
25:09 if you're not a great fighter.
25:11 But his competition has been very limited.
25:13 He's fighting another guy that's been out of the ring for a very long time,
25:17 and he should be able to get the stoppage probably in the first round.
25:20 I want to see him in the fourth, the fifth, the sixth.
25:23 I want to see how he adjusts when he's getting hit back as well.
25:26 He's doing a lot of the hitting, but he's not getting anything in return.
25:30 You know who is getting some in return?
25:32 Guido Villanueva.
25:34 Harper found a seam here in the sixth and seventh round.
25:39 10.30 Eastern, we move over to ESPN.
25:49 It all leads to the middleweight title unification, Vincenzo Gualtieri.
25:54 Knocked his mouthpiece out.
25:56 Is that his mouthpiece?
25:58 No, I think that was that.
26:00 The piece of tape on the dreadlocks?
26:02 Yeah. I thought it was his mouthpiece.
26:04 No, that was that little tape.
26:06 Okay. Well, Vincenzo Gualtieri is getting his hands wrapped.
26:09 He's going to fight the boogeyman of the division,
26:12 Zanabek Alemhanala.
26:15 So that will be one man leaving with two belts,
26:19 going back home from Texas with some extra hardware.
26:22 Nice right hand from Harper once again.
26:24 He's getting the best of Guido over these last two rounds.
26:27 Yeah, he gained confidence towards the back end of that fight,
26:30 the last round, excuse me.
26:32 He had him along the ropes.
26:34 He knows that Guido is tired.
26:37 So that gave him incentive to go ahead and,
26:40 "Hey, I need to step on the gas pedal.
26:42 I've got him right where I need him."
26:44 He's worn down a bit.
26:46 Now he's running from it.
26:48 That's what he's doing right now.
26:50 And he's pressing forward.
26:52 And he's going to keep on getting some.
26:54 As soon as Guido stands still, he's going to get more and more.
26:56 Hey, Tim, you ever had a sugar high?
26:58 Not a sugar rush?
27:00 Probably when I was a kid.
27:02 Okay, because like, Jomani Marquez gave me a sugar rush.
27:05 He was fantastic.
27:07 And now this is the lead.
27:09 Marquez was fantastic. He was different.
27:11 He was different.
27:13 I was worried about it for a little bit.
27:15 I was worried about the way he sat on his back foot quite often
27:18 with his chin a little bit exposed.
27:20 And every now and then he would throw his jab,
27:22 and I could see a right hand countering it.
27:24 And he rolled the right hand.
27:26 So I was like, "Oh, okay."
27:28 I was like, "This kid got some eyes too."
27:30 He's reactive. He sees things coming.
27:32 And then the way he's able to close the distance on you
27:34 and put that pressure on you, but still be close,
27:37 but able to pick his shots, put you in positions,
27:40 knock your posture off by pushing you,
27:42 putting you in the spot where he wants you.
27:44 He's very clever in the ring, man.
27:46 He's sharp. I want to see more.
27:48 I wish we could get four more rounds of him.
27:51 Instead of this.
27:53 You taught him?
27:55 One shot. The same one.
27:57 And then no follow-up.
27:59 Villanueva's mouth has been open for the last two rounds.
28:01 He's been tired. He's been tired for the last two rounds.
28:04 Mouth has been wide open and breathing heavy.
28:06 ESPN plus ringside for the eighth round.
28:10 [bell dings]
28:12 All right, Tim.
28:20 I thought it was the mouthpiece, but it was not.
28:23 It was the hair accessory.
28:25 Hair accessory, yep.
28:27 Knocked it out.
28:29 It was a bootleg one too, because it was this tape.
28:31 Knocked the tape off the reel.
28:33 Look at him. Send that overhand too.
28:36 Once you see it set up, but don't overstep it.
28:38 Okay.
28:40 You got to...
28:42 And look, watch his legs.
28:43 When he lunges towards you, he bends down more.
28:46 All right?
28:47 He bends down and uses his left leg to bounce
28:49 before he pounces on you.
28:50 Watch it, all right?
28:52 You got to start throwing those punches.
28:53 When he's in close, keep all this working.
28:56 Keep it all working, all right?
28:58 You understand what I'm saying?
28:59 You understand?
29:00 All this. You got to bang with him.
29:02 All right?
29:03 Bang with him. Last round.
29:04 Let's fucking send it.
29:05 What are the chances his mom sent him a text message
29:08 that was like, "Boy, you better stop cussing at your dad"?
29:10 Yes. Yes.
29:12 That's a great mom.
29:13 There's no doubt about it.
29:14 Mom can only earn that time like that.
29:16 There's no doubt in my mind.
29:17 She texted him and said, "Hey, you better stop all that swearing on TV."
29:21 "Oh, you're going to have to deal with me."
29:23 Uh-huh. Good job, Mom.
29:25 Hang with us for the next 2 minutes and 40 seconds,
29:36 and I promise it gets better.
29:39 [indistinct chatter]
29:42 Pying with that jab, Guido Villanueva, weary of Harper's right hand.
30:07 I'm just going to tell you right now, man,
30:09 and you can take it how you want it.
30:14 Guido, good luck.
30:18 Good luck.
30:19 I mean, Guido's not going very far at all.
30:25 This is probably the level he's going to be at right here.
30:30 It's unfortunate, but it's the reality.
30:36 I mean, I talked about regression, just lack of progress.
30:40 He's been off for some time, but I'm just saying,
30:43 he started off well, started off sharp,
30:46 was looking promising, and then just died out.
30:50 The good news is, once the bell rings in a minute 20 seconds,
30:59 we're going to get another fight in the ring,
31:01 and it's going to be Richard Torres, Jr., the Olympian,
31:04 who has never seen the final bell,
31:06 and has never even seen the fourth round as a pro
31:09 because of his power, because of his skill,
31:12 and we expect action.
31:14 He storms, like he's a swarmer, but he's smart with it,
31:18 very intellectual with it.
31:20 He sets it up, but he's got heavy hands,
31:22 and when he hits guys, they just fall.
31:26 Makes them do the little dance.
31:28 Exactly.
31:30 He may be taking ballet lessons, playing Gaston,
31:34 but it's the other guys that he makes dance to his tune.
31:39 Nice right hand from Guido, but--
31:51 Go to the other corner, man.
31:53 You're going to sweat all over me, man.
31:55 Go to the other corner, please.
31:57 You sweat just dripping my head.
31:59 Look at this.
32:01 Thought you were going to get off clean, too.
32:05 At least not blood, but Guido got off in that round right there.
32:09 He got off some good punches while he had Harper in the corner.
32:13 That bell came just in time.
32:21 Fight ends.
32:23 Hallelujah.
32:25 Let's see "action" from this fight, then.
32:29 Look, man.
32:31 Beautiful uppercut, like I told you.
32:36 It started off well.
32:37 Guido looked like he had great technique,
32:40 looked like he had different form,
32:42 good jab, slowed down his movement,
32:44 but as he started fatiguing,
32:47 things started going towards the worst.
32:50 Yes, he was landing right hands, clean, he liked that,
32:54 and you saw the hairpiece come out of the hair.
32:57 Big left hooks, big right hands,
32:59 but it wasn't a scintillating performance.
33:02 He's been out of the ring, but to his credit,
33:04 he's been out of the ring for some time.
33:07 That's fine, but at the same time,
33:09 you have a man in the ring like Harper,
33:12 who's here, and we know why he's here.
33:14 You got to put up.
33:16 You got to put up and show up.
33:18 It don't take much skill to be able to deal with Harper.
33:21 The guys that came before Guido, they were able to put it together
33:24 and get him up out of there.
33:26 Now, Guido didn't have to get him up out of there,
33:28 but what he needed to do was more of a beating
33:30 to make him up, force him to cough it up,
33:33 and he did none of that.
33:35 So I know he's not happy with his performance.
33:37 He put the hat on and stuff. That's great. That's fantastic.
33:39 I'm sure he's going to hear the broadcast,
33:41 and he's probably not going to like it,
33:43 but I hope I light a fire up his butt a little bit more,
33:45 so that way he comes back, and he shows up,
33:47 and he shows out next time.
33:49 Because we see that skill there, the techniques there,
33:52 it's just putting it together in one performance
33:56 is what is missing from 10-1-1 Guido Vianello
34:00 that we had seen earlier in his career.
34:02 Mark Chinook with the decision.
34:05 [bell dings]
34:06 Ladies and gentlemen, after eight rounds here
34:08 inside the Fort Bend Epicenter,
34:10 we go to the judges' scorecards for the official decision.
34:13 David Sutherland scores the bout 80-72.
34:16 Ellis Johnson and Michelle Morales score it 79-73.
34:21 All in favor of your winner by unanimous decision,
34:25 Guido "The Gladiator" Vianello!
34:30 [cheers and applause]
34:34 All right, so Guido Vianello improves his record to 11-1-1.
