Leonardo David Gutiérrez's Fatal Crash @ Rally de El Naranjo 2023

Held on Sunday, 09 April 2023, the Rally de El Naranjo, second round of the 2023 Province of Tucumán Rally Championship organised by the Club Tucumán Motor Sport, was stopped after a fatal accident which took the life of a spectator.
During the first special stage, El Tambo - El Matal 1, the blue Volkswagen Gol #44 driven by Luis Maria Medina and Gonzalo González lost a wheel which flew off and hit 29-year-old spectator Leonardo Gutiérrez who watched the rally. Gutiérrez was quickly transported to hospital in Padilla but passed away shortly after arrival due to serious head injuries.
Following the fatal accident, the rally was stopped and only half of points were awarded toward the championship. Medina and Gonzalez were called by police to complete the legal procedure.
Leonardo David Gutiérrez was resident in the municipality of El Timbó, located about 20 kilometers north to San Miguel de Tucumán.
