Chiefs Offense Struggles without Reliable Second Pass Target

00:00 We talked about on coast to coast yesterday,
00:02 I said, look, here's the thing, that 10 and 1/2 point number,
00:05 it's too high.
00:06 The reason is the Chiefs offense is not operating
00:09 like they did last year.
00:10 The biggest problem for them that they've had so far
00:13 through the six games is they don't
00:15 have a viable second pass target opposite Kelsey.
00:19 They just don't.
00:19 And Kelsey, give him credit with the low ankle sprain.
00:21 He did a great job, caught all nine targets.
00:23 He saw him limp off.
00:25 He'll get four extra days to get the ankle right.
00:27 Actually, more like six, because they
00:30 won't do anything really with him until Wednesday leading up
00:32 to the next game.
00:32 But Rasheed Rice has flashed a little bit, rookie receiver.
00:36 But he's not been consistent enough yet.
00:38 We talked about Sky Moore before the season,
00:39 a guy they thought would break out.
00:40 He is not.
00:41 They haven't found that guy.
00:42 And that's part of the reason why
00:44 this offense, they keep sprangling around
00:46 to 8 to 12 pass targets, different guys each week,
00:49 because they haven't found that guy.
00:50 And that's a problem.
00:51 They only had 19 points last night.
00:53 I give the Broncos credit for hanging in there.
00:55 In fact, late in the fourth quarter,
00:56 they were covering that number.
00:57 And the Chiefs were able to get that field goal by Butker late.
01:01 But the bottom line is, hey, they've won five in a row.
01:04 You know what happened week one?
01:05 Without Kelsey and Chris Jones, they played well since then.
01:08 But they're not back yet.
01:09 They're clearly not back where they need to be offensively.
01:11 They've got to find that consistent number two
01:13 pass target.
01:14 That, to me, is Matt Nagy, the OC, and Andy Reid's job
01:18 right now is to find that guy.
01:19 And they will continue to search for that.
