00:00 Souls-like fans, get ready to lose another chunk of your life.
00:04 The new and improved Lords of the Fallen just dropped, and while it might not quite live
00:09 up to some of the very high standards games like Elden Ring have set, developers Hexworks
00:14 have come up with some pretty nifty ideas that were very nicely implemented.
00:20 According to IGN, a lot is borrowed from FromSoft Classics, in this case Dark Souls specifically,
00:25 but there's tons of unique stuff to get excited about too.
00:29 That includes things like some super cool dual reality shenanigans or a nifty magical
00:35 lamp that lets you flay the souls right out of your enemies.
00:39 GameSpot reports that the main element that sets the game apart is the Umbral Realm, an
00:44 alternate dimension that sits on top of the world you see as you play through the game.
00:50 As a dark crusader adventuring across the world in hopes of stopping the return of an
00:54 evil god, you have the unique capability of interacting with and even entering the Umbral.
01:01 And there is a lot to this mechanic, not only does it lend itself to some great exploration
01:06 and backtracking that feels exciting and rewarding, but gives the player a second chance at survival
01:12 when you're knocked into the realm instead of dying outright when fighting something
01:16 stronger than you.
01:18 There's a lot to say about Lords of the Fallen, but that mechanic alone makes the whole thing
01:24 worth it.
