Four Peaks Oktoberfest presented by BETMGM is back for its milestone 50th year at Tempe Town Lake! The three-day outdoor Bavarian themed festival kicks off Friday, October 13 through Sunday, October 15, 2023. It is open to all ages and features live music, food and drinks, games, carnival rides, dancing and more. This year, there will be thrilling rides, new food items including gourmet pretzels and strudels, and the return of the hilarious and energetic local celebrity bratwurst eating contest.

The annual fundraiser benefits Tempe Sister Cities, an internationally recognized non-profit founded in 1970. The proceeds from Oktoberfest are used to send Tempe high school students to nine of Tempe’s sister cities. For more information, visit www.fourpeaksoktoberfest.com.

00:00 - Well, we are ready to prost this weekend
00:02 for the big Oktoberfest.
00:03 With me is Samantha and Bobby and the amazing--
00:07 - Ak-Bok-Tel-Sek-Tek.
00:09 - Yes, so this amazing band that comes every year,
00:12 which we're excited to talk about.
00:13 But Samantha, let's talk about the Oktoberfestival
00:16 happening this weekend, Friday through Sunday.
00:18 Awesome out there at Tempe Town Lake.
00:20 Again, this is bringing our sister cities together.
00:23 - Correct, yes.
00:25 Tempe Sister Cities is the nonprofit
00:27 that actually organizes the event.
00:28 And this is our 50th year, so our golden year.
00:31 We're very excited about it.
00:33 But the nonprofit out of Tempe,
00:36 actually their mission focuses on exchange programs
00:39 for students, teachers, and professionals.
00:41 So we pair with 11 sister cities across the world.
00:45 - Yeah, and during this time, we are of course excited
00:48 because we are gonna have beer, we're gonna have food,
00:51 all kinds of stuff out there.
00:53 Thanks to Four Peaks Brewing Company.
00:54 - Yes, yes, absolutely.
00:56 We love our partnership with Four Peaks.
00:57 We've been with them for quite some time now.
00:59 So you'll see here, the beers are some of the featured beers,
01:02 Golden Log or things like that.
01:03 You'll see over here, our brat plate here.
01:07 And now, Bobby likes to tell us to make sure
01:09 you get that sauerkraut on there.
01:10 We've got our special sauce in there.
01:13 So secret ingredients.
01:14 So lots of great food and beer and a lot of great events.
01:18 - Yes, happening.
01:19 One of it is going to be the bratwurst eating contest.
01:23 - Yes.
01:23 - So that I understand our very own stew,
01:26 our celebrity food guy will be in it.
01:28 - Yes.
01:28 - So that's at 245, but a lot of events going on.
01:31 Saturday morning, we have the big run.
01:33 - Yes, Rang for Brats.
01:34 - Yes, Rang for Brats, the Frank Kirsch Foundation
01:36 that you still can go and sign up to do,
01:37 which is really fun.
01:38 - Yes.
01:39 - Which is nice.
01:40 The other part too, we want to mention
01:41 that volunteers are needed.
01:42 - Yes, so the entire event is coordinated all by volunteers.
01:46 So we have secured a lot of volunteers for the weekend,
01:49 but we still are looking for several volunteers.
01:53 More importantly, I think on Friday and Saturday evenings,
01:56 there's incentives such as raffles, bonuses and things
01:59 for any and all who can sign up during those night shifts.
02:02 - Yeah, and definitely it's a great way to come out
02:05 and see the different things happening out there
02:07 as you volunteer and also have some fun,
02:09 which is really nice.
02:10 - Yes.
02:11 - And you get to go into a raffle, you said?
02:12 - Yes, on the evening shifts, anyone who signs up
02:14 for those evening shifts, they're just a little harder
02:17 to staff because they are later in the evening.
02:19 We are entering all of those volunteers into a raffle
02:21 for some very exciting prizes
02:23 that we've put together this year.
02:24 - I love it, there you go, you gotta do it.
02:26 All right, Bobbie, let's talk about the band behind us.
02:29 - The band.
02:30 The Aqua Hotel Sextet comes straight
02:32 from Regensburg, Germany,
02:34 and they've been coming for 26 years.
02:37 And they play all around the park, you can't miss them.
02:40 They're great.
02:42 We just love having them.
02:43 It makes Oktoberfest, Oktoberfest.
02:45 - Yes, and if you have seen them in the past,
02:48 you might notice there is a new--
02:52 - Simone.
02:52 - Simone, someone new, a young lady.
02:55 I don't think we've ever seen a young lady in the group,
02:57 and they brought her in, which is awesome,
02:58 and she's gonna have fun here with us
03:00 and have a good time, so I like it.
03:02 Let's move this out of the way,
03:04 and we're gonna slide this to the side,
03:06 and we're going to get a little music from the band.
03:09 Don't forget, it's the big Oktoberfest this weekend
03:12 over at the Tempe Town Lake.
03:13 Information is right there on the screen.
03:15 So, strike it up.
