What’s on guide: Spooky season across Wales

St Fagan’s National museum of history isn’t usually the first place you’d think of when you’re planning some halloween fun, but this year the whole site is set to turn all things spooky, focusing on traditional Welsh folklore, with ghost tales, witches cauldrons, and craft for the kids, all culminating in the burning of the giant wicker man. Taking place from the 29th to the 31st October.

If you’re looking for something a little less frightening, why not go for a pumpkin patch. There are hundreds all over the country, from Clearwell Farm near Newport, Kerry Vale Pick Your own in Mid Wales or Pembrokeshire pumpkin farm to name but a few, with too many more across the country to even count. With various opening times, but make sure to not leave it too late or all the good ones will be gone.

Cardiff Pumpkin Festival is hosting a number of different events this year, with a daytime festival, twilight festival and even a few scare Fests for the older ones. As well as a traditional pumpkin patch, there will be pumpkin games, live entertainment, street food and a maize maze. Taking place every weekend until halloween as well as the big day itself on the 31st.
