Detroit Lions cornerback Emmanuel Moseley will miss remainder of 2023 season after tearing ACL.
Transcript
00:00 Yet again, Emanuel Mosley, the Lions' free agent acquisition from this offseason, has suffered a torn ACL, unfortunately, John.
00:08 What do you make of that injury news for Mosley?
00:11 Yeah, it's real unfortunate, Vito.
00:13 A player that all last year rehabbed following a torn ACL on his left knee, had to scratch and claw and do the entire rehab process just to get back.
00:23 Even had to set back this offseason, requiring another surgery, and now just two snaps into his career with the Detroit Lions, his season ends as he tore his right ACL and now ending his 2023 season.
00:36 It's real unfortunate when you look at the Detroit Lions secondary, they're kind of now starting to take some hits and losing some players due to injury, not having Brian Branch as he's been dealing with an ankle injury.
00:47 Now Mosley is no longer going to be available.
00:50 For this player, Vito, you just hope for the best. You understand that he's been through this process before, so he knows what's upcoming.
00:57 You just don't want that for a player that works so hard.
01:01 But Vito, it's just quite common that when a player does indeed tear an ACL, it just really increases the odds that the other knee is going to potentially suffer the same injury.
01:12 For the Detroit Lions, they're now going to look to the roster potentially, maybe even having more opportunity for a young player in Stephen Gilmore.
01:20 Could they look to the trade market to fill that role?
01:23 Could they just stick with who's on the roster, with Will Harris being a very versatile player that can play multiple spots, sticking with Jerry Jacobs and Cam Sutton as starters?
01:33 So we'll see. Ifatu Malafonu as well is a versatile player that can play multiple spots.
01:39 The Lions have plenty of options, but it does appear that if the Lions are going to go outside the organization, I think a position that you're going to look at is at the cornerback spot.
01:49 I agree. John, thanks for all the time.
