TV presenter and broadcaster Eamonn Holmes talks about his support for Yorkshire-based mental health charity Platform 1.
Transcript
00:00 Hello there. Whether you know it or not, you have an amazing mental health charity operating
00:07 out of Huddersfield. It's called Platform One and the headquarters are two railway carriages
00:13 in Huddersfield train station. But there is a problem. Due to financial cutbacks, this
00:18 amazing charity is in danger of having to close. Platform One is run by a great guy
00:25 called Jez Walsh and Jez and his counsellors offer free mental health care to so many deserving
00:31 people. I first got involved after seeing an item about them on TV. I found them on
00:38 social media and followed them and I so admired the work they were doing that I decided to
00:41 get involved. And one of the ways I can help them is by raising some money. And this is
00:47 where you come in. We're going to stage an audience with me, Eamonn Holmes in Huddersfield
00:51 Town Hall. It's going to be on Friday, the 27th of October. And it's a fundraiser, which
00:58 means the more tickets we can sell, the longer Platform One can stay open and the more people
01:03 it can help. So what's in store? Well, I'm going to be in the psychiatrist chair, I suppose,
01:10 and Jez is going to interview me. It'll be a trip down memory lane, not only for you,
01:14 but for me as well. The programmes I've worked on, the people I've met, the people I really
01:19 liked, the people I didn't, the politicians, the presidents, the royals, the pop stars,
01:26 the film stars, growing up in the Troubles in Northern Ireland. It will be a real trip
01:31 down memory lane and it would be lovely to share it with you. So please help us out.
01:36 All the details are on the Huddersfield Town Hall website. I think you'll enjoy it and
01:41 I hope to see you there. Thank you.
