Arkansas Razorbacks defensive end Trajan Jeffcoat and defensive back Hudson Clark on what they've seen from the Crimson Tide offense headed into road trip after disappointing loss at Ole Miss last Saturday night.
Transcript
00:00 Yeah, Trajan, I was curious what you see from those guys up front at Alabama,
00:04 the offensive line, tight ends, Jalen Milrow.
00:07 What do you see from those guys on film?
00:09 >> They definitely talented all through the board.
00:13 We're just looking forward to just matching up, but
00:16 I feel like they're pretty good, pretty physical, great team.
00:19 >> Yeah, your thoughts specifically on some of the guys you'll be matching up with,
00:23 I guess, on the offensive line and tight end?
00:26 >> Just physical, great offensive line, just looking forward to just playing,
00:31 matching up.
00:32 >> Hudson, your thoughts on Jalen Milrow and
00:36 some of the receivers over there at Alabama?
00:40 >> Yeah, Milrow, he's obviously improved from last year.
00:43 He's doing really good.
00:45 They're really talented at receiver and at quarterback too.
00:49 You can throw deep, you can run it, you can do it all.
00:51 So we just gotta be on a high alert in the secondary.
00:57 >> Yeah, and your thoughts on Burton, Bond, some of those wide receivers?
01:01 >> I mean, they're really talented.
01:02 They got great hands.
01:04 They're fast, quick, get out of breaks, they can do it all.
01:07 >> Yeah, what's the locker room been like, guys?
01:11 I mean, obviously, this isn't the start that you guys wanted two and four right now.
01:16 But what's the mentality?
01:17 What's some of the things that I guess Coach Pittman says to you guys about
01:20 staying focused and keeping in it?
01:22 >> We just definitely just staying positive, encouraging each other.
01:28 Keep emphasizing the fact about faith.
01:30 We gotta have faith in ourselves and faith in the team as well.
01:32 So we're definitely staying positive.
01:35 Coach is reiterating that to us.
01:36 And we're just taking it one day at a time.
01:38 >> Yeah, your thoughts, Hudson?
01:42 >> Yeah, I gotta say the same thing.
01:44 I think we gotta be light in our locker room as a defense and
01:49 take control and be leaders.
01:52 Even like this isn't the start we wanted, but we still have a whole half of
01:55 the season left.
01:56 We can't give in just cuz we didn't start the way we wanted to.
01:59 >> Thanks, guys.
02:01 >> Tom.
02:03 >> Hey, Trajan, I wanted to ask you about Nico.
02:11 He got a little bit more playing time than normal last week.
02:13 And I know he had a TFL and he blew Bentley up on another play.
02:17 Just what do you think of him getting a little bit more time?
02:19 >> I knew Nico's time was coming.
02:23 Nico is very talented, young defense man, so he coming.
02:27 So I wasn't surprised at all.
02:28 I see the work he put in and he's showcasing it, so.
02:32 >> If I can ask you guys both, I mean, y'all had several defensive guys
02:36 come out of the game, Cam and Pooh and a couple other guys, Al,
02:41 and seem to just kind of keep carrying on.
02:44 Hudson, what was it like maybe still basically getting the job done with
02:49 a lot of your guys out?
02:50 >> Yeah, I mean, we have a next man up mentality.
02:53 And so when one man goes down, the next man, he's gotta step up and
02:57 be just as good or even better.
02:59 And so I think getting reps and practice really helps those guys.
03:03 And they're just flying to the ball.
03:05 They stepped in, filled the roles greatly.
03:06 >> Yeah, Tree, you have any thoughts about just what y'all did with some men down
03:11 last week?
03:13 >> Just like Hud said, just the next man mentality, just try to keep going.
03:19 I know it's sad for my guys that's hurt, but
03:22 we're gonna pick up and we're gonna keep going as a team, so.
03:26 >> Gotcha, Hud, last time you guys played in Tuscaloosa,
03:31 it was a one touchdown game.
03:33 And Rocket and Cam were just talking about how y'all took the mentality of you,
03:38 you knew you could win that game.
03:39 I'm wondering if it's feasible to think,
03:42 have the same type mentality going into this week.
03:44 >> Yeah, I mean, obviously every week we're positive, we have hope we're gonna win.
03:50 And so we're just working and we're watching film and
03:53 trying to do more than we did last week.
03:55 And I think going in every game, you gotta believe you can win.
03:59 That's the beginning of it.
04:00 >> Thanks, guys.
04:02 >> Bob?
04:09 >> Bob, can you hear me?
04:12 >> Sorry, you can hear me now, right?
04:14 I think I had it backwards or something.
04:15 Hey, Tree, when you were at Mizzou, did you guys ever play at Alabama?
04:20 >> No, sir, they just came to us in 2020.
04:25 >> Okay, I think you got to play at Baton Rouge for the first time.
04:28 What's it like?
04:29 I mean, how excited are you to get to play at Alabama?
04:31 And is it kind of fun being in the other division, and
04:35 now you're getting to play some different teams in different places?
04:38 >> It's definitely exciting, getting to go down here with my boys,
04:41 all my brotherhood.
04:43 So we put the work in, so I'm just excited to showcase what we have put in.
04:47 So I'm excited for everybody.
04:49 >> And for both you guys, we had Cam on earlier, and
04:53 he's obviously having a pretty nice season, hitting some 50 plus yarders.
04:56 As a team, when you feel like you got a reliable kicker,
05:02 to me that's kind of like knowing you got a good closer in baseball.
05:05 I don't know if you guys like baseball or not, but
05:07 I was just wondering, what's it like having a kicker like Cam,
05:11 knowing that he, what the kind of weapon he is for you all?
05:15 >> To be honest, there's really not too much to say.
05:19 I mean, he's a goat, I mean, that's all I can say.
05:22 [LAUGH] >> Yeah, I gotta say the same thing.
05:25 I mean, every time he steps on the field, he brings a different confidence and
05:29 swagger.
05:29 And then going against him in two minutes every day, it's annoying,
05:32 cuz I mean, they only gotta go about ten yards to get in his range.
05:37 >> Okay, and then Hudson, playing Millrow last year,
05:41 he came off the bench when Young got hurt.
05:43 And what do you remember about him last year coming in, and
05:47 then how is he different when you're watching film now, getting ready for
05:51 this game?
05:52 >> Yeah, I would say, I think he definitely throws a lot better,
05:55 especially on the deep ball.
05:57 Last year he came in, and then he kinda put the game away with his deep,
06:02 or his run that was about 80 yards.
06:04 And so I mean, he's great in both aspects of the game, run and pass.
06:09 >> Thanks, guys.
06:12 >> Jackson, close it out.
06:13 >> Hey, guys, since halftime of the A&M game,
06:19 the defense has really been playing well.
06:21 And I think there were signs of that before the Aggies game, but
06:25 it's just kinda changed.
06:26 I'm wondering, was there a moment maybe during that stretch that you guys
06:31 kinda started to sense things like turning and confidence building for the defense?
06:34 I'm curious if either of you guys have a specific moment in mind where
06:38 the defense really started to believe,
06:40 especially coming off the struggles of last year.
06:42 >> I definitely say we always had the confidence, and
06:47 it was all about persevering as a brotherhood, as a defense.
06:50 So we just kept that same mentality, and
06:53 we just continue to get better and showcase game by game.
06:56 >> Yeah, I think we definitely got the talent.
07:01 We just gotta execute.
07:02 And so I think, I mean, it started in practice.
07:05 We're all fine to the ball, having fun.
07:07 And so I think that's been different for us.
07:09 We're out there enjoying every day.
07:11 >> And Hudson, I think we've seen flashes from Jalen Braxton all season, but
07:16 he really has made some really good plays the past couple games.
07:20 I mean, what's it like watching a freshman kinda develop in front of your eyes like
07:24 that in the ceiling that he could be?
07:26 >> Yeah, I mean, he's a freshman, but he doesn't play like it.
07:28 He plays like he's been here a couple years.
07:31 And so, I mean, he stepped up big time for us, and it's,
07:34 I mean, he made some plays on Saturday.
07:37 [BLANK_AUDIO]
07:40 >> So I'll follow word.
07:41 >> Yeah, I had one that popped in my head.
07:44 I looked at the stats in Alabama, kinda uncharacteristically,
07:47 their opponents have had 26 sacks.
07:50 I think the Aggies had six last week.
07:52 Tree, I know they're a good offensive line right there, Alabama, but
07:56 do you feel like when you look at that when you watch film,
07:59 do you feel like maybe you can get some pressure on Melrose?
08:02 >> I mean, I definitely feel like I'm confident in everyone to get after him.
08:06 So I'm just looking forward to that, just getting after my team.
